Applying organic coating is an important and effective approach for the protection of metal from corrosion. Weathering degradation and under-film corrosion are the two major important factors that cause the failure of organic coatings. In this work, the degradation investigation of two epoxy coatings (clear and pigmented coatings) was carried out under the dry–wet circulation of three different water fog solutions (deionized water, 0.5 wt% NaCl, 0.05 wt% NaCl + 0.35 wt% (NH4)2SO4) in 35 days. The apparent performance (pull-off adhesion and surface potentials) and electrochemical features [electrochemical noise and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)] of the coating samples were monitored after dry–wet fog exposure. In our three accelerating systems of the fog atmosphere, the time that the detectable defects appeared on the surface of coating samples was far ahead in the mixed salt solution than that in the deionized water or 0.5 wt% NaCl solution. For a defective or damaged coating surface, the derived results by using the standard deviation method (SDM) or Fourier power spectrum (FPS) were rather higher than those obtained from EIS as a whole, while for the same coating, the degradation trend with time derived from EIS, SDM, FPS, and scanning Kelvin probe was consistent with each other.

Abstract Acid fracturing is an effective technology for increasing oil and gas production. However, acid will cause serious corrosion to the tubing. In this paper, the inhibition performance of TG202 inhibitor for acidizing of high temperature and high pressure gas wells on N80 carbon steel and 13Cr martensitic stainless steel tubing in 15% hydrochloric acid was studied by electrochemical noise technology. The results showed that with the increase of TG202 inhibitor content, the noise resistance increased and the corrosion rate of tubing steel decreased. Under the same condition, the order of corrosion rate of tubing steels: 13Cr > HP-13Cr > N80 > P110. The pitting corrosion of HP-13Cr and 13Cr is significant. The research showed that TG202 inhibitor had a protective effect on tubing during acidizing. The inhibition mechanism of TG202 inhibitor was discussed.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the corrosion behavior of the AA6061 and AlSi10Mg alloys produced by extruded and additive manufacturing (selective laser melting, SLM). Alloys were immersed in two electrolytes in H2O and 3.5 wt. % NaCl solutions at room temperature and their corrosion behavior was studied by electrochemical noise technique (EN). Three different methods filtered EN signals, and the statistical analysis was employed to obtain Rn, the localization index (LI), Kurtosis, skew, and the potential spectral density analysis (PSD). The Energy Dispersion Plots (EDP) of wavelets method was employed to determine the type of corrosion and the Hilbert–Huang Transform (HHT), analyzing the Hilbert Spectra. The result indicated that the amplitude of the transients in the time series in potential and current is greater in the AlSi10Mg alloy manufactured by additive manufacturing. The amplitude of the transients decreases in both alloys (AA6061 and AlSi10Mg) as time increases.
