Abstract Background: Maternal and neonatal mortality rates in many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are still far above the targets of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3. Value-based healthcare (VBHC) could potentially surpass traditional input-oriented approaches to create a high-quality health system and to improve maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) outcomes. This paper describes the implementation of VBHC in urban and rural Kenya with the aim to significantly improve MNCH outcomes. Methods: We developed a theory of change (ToC) and used an incremental cohort-based implementation approach to create short and long learning cycles along which different components of the VBHC framework were introduced and evaluated. We sought to leverage local resources and used a mobile phone-based platform to support pregnant women and MNCH providers throughout the patient journey, using the system for communication, payment and data collection. We created dashboards and used interviews and focus group discussions to gather feedback and to collect the data to describe the implementation process in this paper. Results: We implemented all elements of VBHC, starting small and expanding cohort by cohort. Short and long learning cycles between cohorts enabled implementation of the framework in a relatively short time frame. Data on outputs and outcomes show that the VBHC framework had impact on three levels: Mothers’ improved adherence to maternal healthcare, incentivizing providers to improve quality of care, and transparency of outcomes and costs. This paper describes the implementation process and while the evaluation of health outcomes is ongoing, first results show improved adherence to evidence-based care pathways at a low cost per enrolled person. Conclusion: This study has shown that implementation of the VBHC framework in an LMIC setting is possible with some adaptations to the local context. The incremental, cohort-based approach enabled an iterative learning process, which could support the restructuring of health systems in low resource settings going from a supply-driven model to a value-driven model.Trial registration: Not applicable

This study aims to determine whether there is an increase in Learning Outcomes of Indonesian History Telling Materials through the application of Word Square and Scramble learning methods to 6th Grade students of SDN Medokan Ayu II/615 Surabaya, and to find out how much increase in Learning Outcomes of Indonesian History Telling Materials through the application of learning methods. Word Square and Scramble for Class 6 students at SDN Medokan Ayu II/615 Surabaya. Action research was carried out in two learning cycles by applying the Word Square and Scramble learning methods in Indonesian Language Subjects as the object of research. In the study, it was found that the authentic value and learning outcomes of students' storytelling history of Indonesia increased. This can be seen from the increase in students' learning outcomes of Telling Indonesian History from before this learning method was applied which only had an average of 53.8 to 71.3 in the first cycle and 77.7 in the second cycle. In addition, it was also found an increase in the percentage of classical completeness from cycle to cycle. Classical completeness in the first cycle was 59% with a moderately increasing category in the second cycle of 82% with a very good category. Based on the explanation of the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that there is an increase in Learning Outcomes of Indonesian History Telling Materials through the application of the Word Square and Scramble learning methods to the 6th grade students of SDN Medokan Ayu II/615 Surabaya.

This study aimed to determine the increase in student learning outcomes in the domain of knowledge, skills, and attitudes by using problem-solving learning models. The method used is classroom action research through two learning cycles consisting of the stages of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. There was an increase in learning outcomes and the number of students who met the minimum completeness in the domain of knowledge seen from the average value of students in cycle 1 to cycle 2. The learning outcomes of students in the domain of skills from the observation were included in the sufficient criteria in cycle 1 and increased to be good criteria in cycle 2. Classical completeness based on the number of students in cycle 1 to cycle 2 has increased. The learning outcomes of students in the domain of attitudes through the results of observation data were included in the sufficient criteria in cycle 1 and increased to be good criteria in cycle 2. As well as an increase in completeness seen from the number of students in cycle I to cycle II. Based on these findings, this model can be used to improve the chemistry learning outcomes of students in class XI.

5E learning cycle is proposed to be a good choice for students’ learning and has brought a positive impact on students learning education theoretically and practically. This method of learning is a student’s centre oriented learning model which solely prioritize on students own experiences, creates active participation and built creative critical thinking skills. The elements of 5E learning cycle are engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, and evaluation. Research here intended to identify students’ perceptions of 5E learning cycles in their learning activity and to explore the impact of 5E learning cycles towards student’s active learning. The study was conducted at Universiti Utara Malaysia. This study uses qualitative approach with classroom action research. The discussion is based on the information gauged from 42 undergraduate students who enrolled in BPMM3043 Strategy and Marketing Analysis class in UUM. Data had been collected qualitatively from various sources such as students’ reflections, lecturer’s reflections, peer feedback, lecturer’s feedback, and focus group interview. The results showed that the 5E learning cycle mayenhanced students active learning in Strategy and Marketing Analysis class.

Introduction. Swimming is a sport much favored by many, and one needs to have the courage to be able to swim. In swimming lessons in schools, there are still many students who are afraid to swim for fear of drowning and other reasons. The key to be able to swim is being able to float. Purpose. This research is to improve the learning ability to swim through a learning model using rope as aid. Based on the results of research and discussion, we can conclude that there is an improvement in the swimming learning process with the aid of a rope. Improvement in the learning through the method of swimming using rope as aid performed by the students of the State University of Sriwijaya, Palembang can be seen from their improved learning process and participation. Method. The research using qualitative method. The total of the population is 82 students in this class, 23 students could not swim and are afraid to carry out activities such as gliding, dipping heads and diving in shallow areas. Conclusion. There is a significant improvement in the outcomes of three learning cycles that have been prepared, such as the students apply the learning method of floating with rope as aid; cycle two, in which they swim using rope as aid, and cycle three, in which they make swimming motions freely without any aid. Change takes place in the application of swimming method using rope as aid in which students who initially could not swim can eventually swim
