AbstractPursuing and developing effective methodologies to construct highly active catalytic sites to maximize the atomic and energy efficiency by material engineering are attractive. Relative to the tremendous researches of carbon-based single atom systems, the construction of bio-applicable single atom materials is still in its infancy. Herein, we propose a facile and general interfacial-confined coordination strategy to construct high-quality single-atom nanotherapeutic agent with Fe single atoms being anchored on defective carbon dots confined in a biocompatible mesoporous silica nanoreactor. Furthermore, the efficient energy conversion capability of silica-based Fe single atoms system has been demonstrated on the basis of the exogenous physical photo irradiation and endogenous biochemical reactive oxygen species stimulus in the confined mesoporous network. More importantly, the highest photothermal conversion efficiency with the mechanism of increased electron density and narrow bandgap of this single atom structure in defective carbon was proposed by the theoretical DFT calculations. The present methodology provides a scientific paradigm to design and develop versatile single atom nanotherapeutics with adjustable metal components and tune the corresponding reactions for safe and efficient tumor therapeutic strategy.

Photoelectric devices can be so widely used in various detection industries that people began to focus on its research. The research of photoelectric sensors with high performance has become an industry goal. In this paper, we prepared photodetectors using organic–inorganic hybrid semiconductor materials with narrow bandgap hexane-1,6-diammonium pentaiodobismuth (HDA-BiI5) and investigated the detector photoresponse and time-response characteristics under a single light source. The device exhibits high photoresponsivity and fast response time. The photoresponsivity can reach 1.45 × 10−3 A/W and 8.5 × 10−4 A/W under laser irradiation at 375 nm and 532 nm wavelengths, and the rise and decay times are 63 ms and 62 ms, 62 ms and 64 ms, respectively. The device has excellent performance and this work can extend the application of organic–inorganic hybrid semiconductor materials in photovoltaic and photodetectors.

Bi2Se3 is a topological quantum material that is used in photodetectors, owing to its narrow bandgap, conductive surface, and insulating bulk. In this work, Ag@Bi2Se3 nanoplatelets were synthesized on Al2O3(100) substrates in a two-step process of thermal evaporation and magnetron sputtering. X-ray diffractometer (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), Raman spectroscopy, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) revealed that all samples had the typical rhombohedral Bi2Se3. Field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM)-energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS), XPS, and HRTEM confirmed the presence of the precipitated Ag. The optical absorptance of Bi2Se3 nanoplatelets in UV-visible range decreased with the Ag contents. Results of photocurrent measurements under zero-bias conditions revealed that the deposited Ag affected photosensitivity. A total of 7.1 at.% Ag was associated with approximately 4.25 and 4.57 times higher photocurrents under UV and visible light, respectively, than 0 at.% Ag. The photocurrent in Bi2Se3 at 7.1 at.% Ag under visible light was 1.72-folds of that under UV light. This enhanced photocurrent is attributable to the narrow bandgap (~0.35 eV) of Bi2Se3 nanoplatelets, the Schottky field at the interface between Ag and Bi2Se3, the surface plasmon resonance that is caused by Ag, and the highly conductive surface that is formed from Ag and Bi2Se3. This work suggests that the appropriate Ag deposition enhances the photocurrent in, and increases the photosensitivity of, Bi2Se3 nanoplatelets under UV and visible light.
