In this paper, we will discuss about the usage of big data in healthcare, the various sources of data, benefits of that data and the obstacles in using that data and tools, technologies and algorithms used to get, analyze and process that data.

People are quite acquainted with the emerging social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest© , and LinkedIn. Many web developers and technical industry professionals are using these websites and applications consistently but may not be aware of the types of APIs and supported tools available and used for leading social networking platforms. Social networking sites have millions of active users who discover and share an enormous amount of user-generated content on a daily basis. Most of these platforms provide APIs and tools for web developers to incorporate social sharing into their applications and make it possible for the applications to leverage the features and functions of the platforms. Using these APIs and tools provided by social networking platforms, developers can build varied and innovative applications that feature social sign-ins, streaming real-time social data, social sharing and engagement, and much more. This paper represents a review and comparative study of REST APIs or APIs, in general, of the emerging social network platforms by discussing their API structure along with an overall understanding of the varied features these sites are born with or were improved to. Ultimately, we understand the reasons to why REST has become the building block of most APIs and is the eventual future.

Over recent decades, the number and frequency of severe pathogen infections have been increasing. Pathogen mitigation strategies in human medicine or in livestock operations are vital to combat emerging arsenals of bacterial virulence and defense mechanisms. Since the emergence of antimicrobial resistance, the competitive nature of bacteria has been considered for the potential treatment or mitigation of pathogens. Previously, we identified a strong E. coli competitor with probiotic properties producing a diffusible antimicrobial molecule(s) that inhibited the growth of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). Our current objective was to isolate and examine the properties of this antimicrobial molecule(s). Molecules were isolated by filter sterilization after 12 h incubation, and bacterial inhibition was compared to relevant controls. Isolated antimicrobial molecule(s) and controls were subjected to temperature, pH, or protease digestion treatments. Changes in inhibition properties were evaluated by comparing the incremental cell growth in the presence of treated and untreated antimicrobial molecule(s). No treatment affected the antimicrobial molecule(s) properties of STEC inhibition, suggesting that at least one molecule produced is an efficacious microcin. The molecule persistence to physiochemical and enzymatic treatments could open a wide window to technical industry-scale applications.

The article is dedicated to the topic, which is important at present time: formation of human capital as an important factor of the social and economic development of society. Modernization of education plays an essential part in terms of the development of human capital during all historical stages and its importance grows significantly alongside with the economic growth of the country. The role of education and necessity to improve its quality became of significant value for Russia during the economic modernization on the cusp of the 19th–20th centuries. In this article, the author makes an attempt to analyze the experience of formation of different levels of electro-technical education during the economic modernization, as well as to reveal the role of civil society in this process. The Russian economic modernization implied the formation of a competitive industrial complex, which included mining, manufacturing industries and transport. The electro-technical industry, which was lacking trained personnel, was the most quickly developing one. The discussion in the relevant journals as well as during the work of All-Russia electro-technical congresses set up, to the most extent, the main ways to form all the levels of electro-technical education, which helped to train personnel for the respective industry. The author analyzed both the available experience in realization of lower and secondary specialized electro-technical education and the new approaches to its organization, developed mostly in the Electro-technical department of the Emperor’s Russian Technical Society (ERTS). Apart from that, there was a curious attempt to open a higher electro-technical school in Moscow based on the European (mostly French) experience, which was oriented mostly towards additional training of the already working engineering and technical specialists.

The article analyzes the subjects of thesis researches and individual publications on the megasystem of transportation terminology. The scientific researches and articles published in professional journals on terminology highlight the processes of stratification or streamlining in the vast technical industry under study, which comprises all modes of transportation. The materials reviewed are, first of all, scientific works of the Ukrainian terminologists. Moreover, the researches on transportation terminology in Belarusian and Russian terminology are summarized. In quantitative terms, more scientific works dealing with transportation terminology have been defended in Russia (50 scientific papers, including: automotive engineering terminology – 14 scientific researches; air transport terminology – 14 theses; water transport terminology – 14 theses, railway transport terminology – 5 theses, transportation terminology – 3 scientific papers). In the Ukrainian terminology s, the number of defended qualifying papers is almost half as many – 20 theses, but publications on transport terminology are widespread. And there are fewer researches in Belarusian terminology – 13 dissertations, the subject of which is the terms used in the transportation industry. After processing the abstract databases of East Slavic terminology, we aim to investigate the representation of the megasystem of transportation terminology in other, in particular, West Slavic and South Slavic, languages.

Purpose While age is receiving increased attention in the literature on workplace diversity, it remains under researched. Intergenerational contact and its relationship to ageism require further research to understand their mechanisms and impacts. The paper aims to discuss this issue. Design/methodology/approach Using semi-structured interviews in the Norwegian technical industry, this paper explores how generations are formed and how this influences intergenerational contact. Findings Through the lens of ageism, the findings reveal that generational stereotypes are strongly held by respondents, and may affect how members of the generations interact in the workplace. Further, the data demonstrate that both age and generation are socially constructed, and age discrimination is perceived by both older and younger workers. Originality/value The study has relevance for managers who are overseeing organizations with considerable age differences.

Amorphous materials in the form of tapes, despite being discovered more than half a century ago, are still the object of interest for materials engineers and electro-technical industry. They possess a great application potential, and are constantly studied for new variations. Due to the different structure from the commonly manufactured textured FeSi sheets, FeCoB based amorphous alloys demonstrate very good, so called soft magnetic properties. This paper presents the results of studying the structure and magnetic properties of tapes of Fe78CoxSi11-xB11(X = 0 or 2) alloys of amorphous structure. In addition, the effect of Co alloy addition on the type of structural defects in the area of ferromagnetic saturation approach was examined. It was found that a small addition of Co affects the increase of saturation magnetization value, as well as the distribution of magnetization vectors within the stresses sources in form of structure defects.
