The magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) is a smart material widely used in recent vibration systems. A system using these materials often faces difficulties designing the controller such as unknown parameters, hysteresis state, and input constraints. First, a model is designed for the MRE-based absorber to portray the behavior of MRE and predict the appropriate electric current supplied. The conventional adaptive controller often suffers from so-called control singularities. The singularity-free adaptive controller is proposed to eliminate the singularity with parametric uncertainty. The proposed controller consists of four components: an adaptive linearizing controller, a deputy adaptive neural network controller, an auxiliary part designed for the controller to overcome the input constraint problem, and a smooth switching algorithm used to exchange the takeover rights of the two controllers. Moreover, the controller is designed to obtain the stabilization of hysteretic state estimation for the vibration system. The adaptive algorithms are proposed to update the unknown system parameters and to observe the unmeasurable hysteretic state. Meanwhile, closed-loop system stability is comprehensively assessed. Finally, the simulation performed on a quarter-car suspension with an MRE-based absorber shows the proposed controller's efficiency.

Abstract In Cognitive radio-based Internet of Things (CR-IoT) systems, the return of the primary user (PU) causes the secondary user (SU) that is communicating to face the spectrum handoff problem. In the process of spectrum handoff, the user terminal can’t get the idle channels in time because of the unknown channel usage state. To solve this problem, a hybrid spectrum handoff algorithm based on the channel idle probability is proposed. The algorithm considers the regularity of PU activities in space and time, defines the idle probability of channels from the perspective of week attributes and time periods, obtains the optimal time period length using genetic algorithm, generates a channel idle probability table, and provides the target channel sequence for SUs in combination with the proposed channel ordering scheme. Simulation results show that the hybrid spectrum switching algorithm based on the channel idle probability can reduce the energy consumption of SUs during spectrum switching, reduce the communication interruption rate, enable SUs to find idle channels faster and reduce the number of sensing times.

Web Real-Time Communication (WebRTC) combines a set of standards and technologies to enable high-quality audio, video, and auxiliary data exchange in web browsers and mobile applications. It enables peer-to-peer multimedia sessions over IP networks without the need for additional plugins. The Opus codec, which is deployed as the default audio codec for speech and music streaming in WebRTC, supports a wide range of bitrates. This range of bitrates covers narrowband, wideband, and super-wideband up to fullband bandwidths. Users of IP-based telephony always demand high-quality audio. In addition to users’ expectation, their emotional state, content type, and many other psychological factors; network quality of service; and distortions introduced at the end terminals could determine their quality of experience. To measure the quality experienced by the end user for voice transmission service, the E-model standardized in the ITU-T Rec. G.107 (a narrowband version), ITU-T Rec. G.107.1 (a wideband version), and the most recent ITU-T Rec. G.107.2 extension for the super-wideband E-model can be used. In this work, we present a quality of experience model built on the E-model to measure the impact of coding and packet loss to assess the quality perceived by the end user in WebRTC speech applications. Based on the computed Mean Opinion Score, a real-time adaptive codec parameter switching mechanism is used to switch to the most optimum codec bitrate under the present network conditions. We present the evaluation results to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach when compared with the default codec configuration in WebRTC.

To solve the problem of location service interruption that is easily caused by incomplete visual satellite environments such as occlusion, urban blocks and mountains, we propose an altimeter + inertial navigation system (INS) + giant low earth orbit (LEO) dual-satellite (LEO2) switching integrated navigation algorithm based on a similar ellipsoid model and unscented Kalman filter (UKF). In addition to effectively improving the INS error, for the INS + LEO dual-satellite switching algorithm without altimeter assistance, our algorithm can also significantly suppress the problem of excessive navigation and positioning error caused by this algorithm in a long switching time, it does not require frequent switching of LEO satellites, and can ensure navigation and positioning functions without affecting LEO satellite communication services. In addition, the vertical dilution of precision (VDOP) value can be improved through the clock error elimination scheme, so, the vertical accuracy can be improved to a certain extent. For different altimeter deviations, we provide simulation experiments under different altimeter deviations; it can be found that after deducting the fixed height deviation, the algorithm can also achieve good accuracy. Compared with other typical algorithms, our proposed algorithm has higher accuracy, lower cost and stronger real-time performance, and is suitable for navigation and positioning scenarios in harsh environments.

As the growth rate of the internet-of-things (IoT) sensor market is expected to exceed 30%, a technology that can easily collect and processing a large number of various types of sensor data is gradually required. However, conventional multilink IoT sensor communication based on Bluetooth low energy (BLE) enables only the processing of up to 19 peripheral nodes per central device. This study suggested an alternative to increasing the number of IoT sensor nodes while minimizing the addition of a central processor by expanding the number of peripheral nodes that can be processed per central device through a new group-switching algorithm based on Bluetooth low energy (BLE). Furthermore, this involves verifying the relevancy of application to the industry field. This device environment lowered the possibility of data errors and equipment troubles due to communication interference between central processors, which is a critical advantage when applying it to industry. The scalability and various benefits of a group-switching algorithm are expected to help accelerate various services via the application of BLE 5 wireless communication by innovatively improving the constraint of accessing up to 19 nodes per central device in the conventional multilink IoT sensor communication.

Due to the aero-engines in a high temperature, pressure, and spool speed environment, the concurrent faults in actuator/sensor combined with degradation of the aero-engine could arise the problem of closed-loop instability during the flight. For this purpose, an improved hybrid fault-tolerant control (FTC) technique has been studied in this paper to deal with simultaneous failure of actuators and sensors associated with health parameters of the typical components’ degradation in aero-engines. The improved hybrid FTC structure combined with the nonlinear thermodynamic component-level (NCL) model-based estimation method merges fault estimation of actuators/sensors and typical components’ degradation estimation process into the FTC process. A robust H ∞ state feedback controller under the disturbance of simultaneous actuator and sensor faults is designed in the proposed method, together with the switching algorithm serving for the fault estimation and improved hybrid FTC channels. In order to show the feasibility of the proposed method, several semiphysical experiments are engaged to illustrate that the improved hybrid FTC structure can save the tolerant-control time and improve performance of the control system.

This paper proposes a new hybrid orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) form termed as DC-biased pulse amplitude modulated optical OFDM (DPO-OFDM) by combining the ideas of the existing DC-biased optical OFDM (DCO-OFDM) and pulse amplitude modulated discrete multitone (PAM-DMT). The analysis indicates that the required DC-bias for DPO-OFDM-based light fidelity (LiFi) depends on the dimming level and the components of the DPO-OFDM. The bit error rate (BER) performance and dimming flexibility of the DPO-OFDM and existing OFDM schemes are evaluated using MATLAB tools. The results show that the proposed DPO-OFDM is power efficient and has a wide dimming range. Furthermore, a switching algorithm is introduced for LiFi, where the individual components of the hybrid OFDM are switched according to a target dimming level. Next, machine learning algorithms are used for the first time to find the appropriate proportions of the hybrid OFDM components. It is shown that polynomial regression of degree 4 can reliably predict the constellation size of the DCO-OFDM component of DPO-OFDM for a given constellation size of PAM-DMT. With the component switching and the machine learning algorithms, DPO-OFDM-based LiFi is power efficient at a wide dimming range.

Modern scientific research particularly radio astronomi- cal spectroscopic observations cannot be imagined without appropriate software suite. That is necessary because of two reasons 1) data are in digital form and 2) data processing is a complex multi-step process. In this paper created in VIRAC data processing suite for a single radio telescope, space maser observations are presented. Software Defined Radio (SDR) backend data processing is described. Implementation of the frequency switching algorithm, acquisition of observation data and their format for storing are discussed. Multiple ways to display the observation results are highlighted.
