In manufacturing-cell-formation research, a major concern is to make groups of machines into machine cells and parts into part families. Extensive work has been carried out in this area using various models and techniques. Regarding these ideas, in this paper, experiments with varying parameters of the popular metaheuristic algorithm known as the genetic algorithm have been carried out with a bi-criteria objective function: the minimization of intercell moves and cell load variation. The probability of crossover (A), probability of mutation (B), and balance weight factor (C) are considered parameters for this study. The data sets used in this paper are taken from benchmarked literature in this field. The results are promising regarding determining the optimal combination of the genetic parameters for the machine-cell-formation problems considered in this study.

AbstractIt is always difficult and challenge to obtain suitable trading signals for the desired securities in financial markets. The popular way to deal with it is through the use of trading strategies (TSs) made up of technical or fundamental indicators. Due to the different properties of TSs, an algorithm was proposed to find trading signals by obtaining the group trading strategy portfolio (GTSP), which is composed of strategy groups that can be employed to generate various TS portfolios (TSP) instead of a single TS. The stop-loss and take-profit points (SLTP) are widely utilized by shareholders to avoid massive losses. However, the appropriate SLTP is hard to set by users. Therefore, in this paper, the algorithm, namely GTSP-SLTP algorithm, is proposed to not only obtain a reliable GTSP but also find appropriate SLTP using the grouping genetic algorithm. A chromosome is encoded by the generated SLTP and GTSP along with the weights for strategy groups that are the SLTP, grouping, weight, and strategy parts. To assess the goodness of a chromosome, the evaluation function that consists of the group balance, weight balance, risk factor, and profit factor, is employed. Genetic operators are then performed to produce new solutions for next population. The genetic process is performed iteratively until the stop conditions have achieved. Last but not the least, empirical experiments were conducted on three financial datasets with different trends and a case study is also given to reveal the effectiveness and robustness of the designed GTSP-SLTP algorithm.

In order to reasonably reduce the perceptible recoil of firearms, and design a recoil reduction device that can be commonly used in automatic rifles, semi-automatic rifles, and machine guns, a balancing mechanism for recoil reduction technology was proposed in this paper. With the perceptible recoil generated by the impact from automat to the balance mechanism as the objective function, the parametric analysis of the mass of the balance weight and the spring stiffness of the balance mechanism was conducted. The analysis showed that the influence of the mass of the balance weight on the reduction of the perceptible recoil of the balance mechanism is obviously greater than that of the spring stiffness of the balance mechanism within the allowable ranges of the two factors. The research results provide a reference for gun recoil reduction technology.

This chapter focuses mainly on the movement disorder, speech, balance, weight loss, swallowing, and speech. Chorea or purposeless involuntary movement is most commonly associated with HD. A patient may have a mixture of movement problems such as dystonia (abnormal posture), and bradykinesia (slowness of movement). The pattern of movement disorder may vary between people but frequently the dystonia and bradykinesia become more prominent as the disease progresses. As this happens more professionals may become involved in the care. It is important for the carer(s) to also take care of themselves.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to combine the two methods of Tripod beta and SCAT to analyze the accidents, explain their leading details, and track the roots of events at the depth of organizational layers.Methods: This analytical-descriptive study was carried out in one of the steel companies in Iran. To conduct the study, we analyzed one of the death- leading events using the combination of SCAT and Tripod methods. We investigated the relationship between variables and analyzed the intermediate and root causes of the event by Tripod beta method.  Moreover, we proposed some control measures in the SCAT cause and effect table. The information achieved from the questionnaire and effects of the accidents' causes were studied and rated using the chi-square test and Friedman test, respectively.Results: The most important direct cause of the accident was "removal of bucket wheel (in the Boom Claimer device) from the shaft". The most important intermediary cause of the event was "lack of an appropriate immune system at the time of balance weight release". The most important rudimentary cause of the event was "inappropriate location of the device cabin in the original design". Furthermore, the most important control measure was “using harvesting equipment with new design".Conclusion: According to the statistical tests, we found a systematic connection between root causes and intermediate causes of the incident. Moreover, we observed that the effect of root causes and intermediary causes were not similar regarding the accident.

Online dynamic balance technology is the key to rotor-active magnetic bearing system, which helps the rotating speed of the system surpass the critical speed. Usually, balance weight and angle are calculated by influence coefficient method. However, how to decompose the weight and angle into sub-weights fixed in the balance holes is troublesome, and determined manually by trial and error, which is always time-consuming. In this paper, a new hierarchical and automatic method is proposed to find the optimized solution to select proper sub-weights in a short time, which limits to a pre-defined error. The algorithm focuses on reducing the move of sub-weights and addition of new sub-weights. Experiments show our algorithm perform effective and efficient.
