Abstract The evolution of Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) events in 2006 and 2010 is investigated using observational data products that are made to understand several processes in the positive (negative) phase of IOD events. Two Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) moorings mounted at 90°E and 80.5°E along the equator were used to evaluate the zonal current variation during two contrasting Indian Ocean Dipole (IO) events. Westward anomalies of the zonal current were observed at 0°, 80.5°E during the peak phase of the positive IOD event from October to December 2006. Meanwhile, the observed zonal currents at 0°, 90°E only showed the short-term westward anomalies during October 2006. On the other hand, during the negative IOD event in 2010, the observed zonal current at both mooring locations indicated strong intraseasonal variations of the eastward anomalies from August to December 2010. Strong easterly (westerly) anomalies of the surface zonal winds were observed during the peak phase of the positive (negative) IOD event in 2006 (2010). These easterly (westerly) anomalies forced upwelling (downwelling) equatorial Kelvin waves indicated by the negative (positive) sea surface height anomalies. Strengthening (weakening) of upwelling (downwelling) along the equatorial Indian Ocean would be a significant factor for further understanding of IOD evolution.

Abstract This paper investigates the simulation and performance of Tunnel field effect transistor (TFET) with a nanocavity in it, which can be used for bio sensing application. The entire simulation is done using the tool Silvaco Atlas TCAD. This paper mainly aims in comparing the different parameters for few biomolecules which has different dielectric constant values, namely Streptavidin, Biotin, APTES, Cellulose and DNA. The device structure here consists of a nanocavity near the source end, which is used to place these biomolecules and hence observe the variation of the Drain current v/s Gate voltage characteristic graph, these biomolecules that are having unique dielectric constants are placed within this cavity and these graphs are observed. The energy band diagram of this device is obtained; on top of this various other parameters namely Surface Potential, Electric field are observed for the above-mentioned Biomolecules. The Length of the cavity of the biosensor is also varied to observe the difference, in addition to this Ion (ON current) variation is plotted for the change in the dielectric constant of the biomolecule.

Welding is a very important part in the development and growth of the industry because it has a role in engineering, repair and construction. Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) is the process of joining two or more materials using a wrapped electrode as heat energy to melt the material. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and welding defects that arise with current variations so that the optimal welding results obtained from 3 amperes were tested using E6013 electrode diameter 3,2 at the 3F welding position fillet joint. This study uses an experimental method with the material used is St 37 steel with a current variation of 90A, 100A, and 110A. From the research conducted, it was not found optimal welding results where from each ampere tested there was still a weld defect. The defects that occur in the three amperes are caused by the arc, electrode angle, and arc length that exceed the normal limit and are also influenced by the welding speed. From the three variations of the amperage used, the dominant welding results did not occur, namely the 90 amperage, while the 100 amperage welding leg showed good results.

In this work, the influence of the underlap region on the electrical behavior of a SOI-nFinFET transistor has been studied with the purpose of radiation sensing. The analysis was performed by evaluating the impact of variations in the underlap region on the on-state current and by studying its sensitivity. The impact of the underlap region on the drain current and, consequently, on the devices’ sensitivity was explained by the analysis of series resistance, the fringing field and electron density. Considering the main impact of radiation in these devices, the study of sensitivity was also performed taking into consideration the variation of oxide trapped charges density. When applying the transistor to a harsh environment, the Underlapped FinFET showed to be a quite respectable radiation sensor, since the results performed with very good sensitivities when using long and narrow spacer oxide with low permittivity oxide. With thicker spacer oxide in the underlap region, the charge concentration makes the spreading field high enough to overcome the series resistance effect, which results in a less sensible device. Once presented the on-state current variation of the Underlapped FinFET, the study turns radiation-sensing purpose applicable using the excellent characteristics of this device, which is shown in detail throughout this work.

Abstract This article investigates the inflection of the German indefinite pronouns jemand and niemand in the accusative and dative. The pronouns are used both with inflectional suffix (jemanden/jemandem, niemanden/niemandem) and without (jemand, niemand) and are thus an example of current variation in contemporary German. The grammars take an unusually liberal stance and describe both forms as correct, partially even with preference to the uninflected form. A corpus study which examines conceptually written data of the DeReKo (German reference corpus) and conceptually oral data of the DECOW16B (German web corpus), shows that over 90 % of occurrences are inflected. But almost 10 % of uninflected forms show that these formations are no arbitrary errors either. To find out what influences the presence or absence of the inflectional ending, a binary logistic regression model was calculated. The following factors proved to be significant influencing factors for inflection: the degree of formality (DeReKo vs. DECOW16B), the lexeme (jemand vs. niemand), the case (acc vs. dat), government by preposition vs. government by verb and the following nominalized adjective (jemand anderen). With regard to the different inflectional suffixes, the frequent use of -en in the dative stood out in particular. Although this form is classified as erroneous in all grammars, almost 30 % of the dative occurrences in informal DECOW16B data are formed in this way.
