Abstract The underlying process for the production of textile reinforced thermoplastics is the impregnation of dry textile reinforcements with a thermoplastic matrix. The process parameters such as temperature, time and pressure of the impregnation are mainly determined by the permeability of the reinforcement. This results from a complex interaction of hydrodynamic compaction and relaxation behavior caused by textile and process parameters. The foundation for the description and optimization of impregnation progresses is therefore the determination of the pressure-dependent permeability of fibre textiles. Previous experimental investigations have shown that the dynamic compaction behavior during the impregnation of fibre reinforcements with thermoplastics or thermosets can be successfully characterized. However, for most cases, an analytical representation has not been possible due to the complexity of the process. Although it may be possible to reproduce this behavior by numerical calculations, the results need to be confirmed by experiments. This paper lays the analytical foundation for building a scaled model system, based on the theory of similarity, to observe, measure, and evaluate the dynamic compaction behavior of textile reinforcements under controlled process conditions.

Summary In this study, we devised a new set of analytical foundation solutions to compute the internal co-seismic displacement and strain changes caused by four independent point sources (strike-slip, dip-slip, horizontal tensile, and vertical tensile) inside a homogeneous spherical Earth model. Our model provides constraints on the deformation properties at depth, and reveals that the internal co-seismic deformation is larger than that on the surface. The deformation near the source is convergent with our formulae. For the internal deformation at radial section plane, the patterns of horizontal displacements ${u_\theta },{u_\phi }$ and strain changes ${e_{rr}},{e_{\theta \theta }},{e_{\phi \phi }},{e_{\theta \phi }}$ caused by strike-slip and tensile sources appear symmetric at the equidistance above and below the source. Their amplitudes are not identical but with a small discrepancy actually. Unlike these, the patterns of radial displacements ${u_r}$ for strike-slip and tensile sources exhibit point symmetry with the equidistance from the source. Also, the corresponding amplitudes are slightly different. The displacements ${u_\theta },{u_\phi }$ and strain changes ${e_{rr}},{e_{\theta \theta }},{e_{\phi \phi }},{e_{\theta \phi }}$ caused by dip-slip also appear the same properties as ${u_r}$ of strike-slip source. The magnitudes of the displacements and strain changes depend on the source types. The curvature effect on the near-field surface deformations is small, and it increases with the studied depth. But for the far-field deformation caused by the strike-slip source (ds = 20 km), the curvature effect can be as large as 77 per cent when the epicentral distance approximates to 1778 km.

FOR A NEW ROMANTICISM: THE TOTALITY, THE MOMENTS OF LIFE AND GEOGRAPHY</p><p>This paper seeks to discuss the Lefebvre’s premises about a new Romanticism, understood as a return to (and overcoming) the artistic-political-philosophical movement that arose in Prussia at the end of the 18th century and revisited by Lefebvre in his efforts to theorize about the relationship between the moments of life in modernity. The effort here is to try to demonstrate that the Lefebvre’s theoretical-analytical foundation, anchored in the interpretation of modern society, the city and the urban, is also related to a philosophical basis still little discussed among Brazilian geographers who refer to it. For that, we will deal with the general assertions of Romanticism and its assimilation and decline in geographic theory, so that we can understand what the Lefebvre’s rereading can bring about innovation / overcoming in this respect and what contributions this reference has to offer to Geography.</p>

Abstract Resonant sensors using coupled micro-cantilever array have applications in a wide range of areas including ultrasensitive mass detection of bio-molecules and chemical analytes. A target mass deposited on one of the cantilevers can be detected by measuring shift in eigen-spectrum. Experimental observations indicate that eigenmodes are more sensitive to mass perturbation than resonant frequencies or eigenvalues. However, analytical works, available in literatures, are limited to only two and three cantilever array for eigenvalue sensitivity and only two cantilever array for eigenmode sensitivity. In the present work, an analytical foundation for estimation of eigenmode sensitivities for a general n-array micro-resonator sensor is developed using matrix perturbation theory. The formulation characterizes the modal spectrum and eigenmode sensitivities as a function of elastic interconnection stiffness parameter and unperturbed eigenmodes. Measurement of added mass is demonstrated for different analyte locations using numerically constructed frequency response function (FRF) curves. Error in measurement is also investigated as a function of interconnection stiffness ratio, position of analyte mass, and selection of particular eigenmode to be measured.

Inventory models must consider the probability of sub-optimal manufacturing and careless shipping to prevent the delivery of defective products to retailers. Retailers seeking to preserve a reputation of quality must also perform inspections of all items prior to sale. Inventory models that include sub-lot sampling inspections provide reasonable conditions by which to establish a lower bound and a pair of upper bounds in terms of order quantity. This should make it possible to determine the conditions of an optimal solution, which includes a unique interior solution to the problem of an order quantity satisfying the first partial derivative. The approach proposed in this paper can be used to solve the boundary. These study findings provide the analytical foundation for an inventory model that accounts for defective items and sub-lot sampling inspections. The numerical examples presented in a previous paper are used to demonstrate the derivation of an optimal solution. A counter-example is constructed to illustrate how existing iterative methods do not necessarily converge to the optimal solution.

Kata Kunci: pertanggungjawaban lingkungan transnasional, prinsip moral, kabut asap  This paper discusses the importance of creating "a communicative notion" in solving the problem of forest and land fires (karhutla) and cross-country haze that occurred in Southeast Asia, especially after the occurrence of events in 2015. The adverse impact of haze that occurred in Southeast Asia has brought many losses for state and non-state actors. Therefore, the communicative notion is important as the basis for building an ideal mechanism for transnational environmental responsibility that is able to accommodate all the interests of the affected actors for the haze that occurs. The communicative notion is created by determining how the formation of various moral principles as an analytical foundation to see the importance of the basis for the establishment of an ideal environmental accountability mechanism. These moral principles include; (1) harm prevention, (2) inclusiveness, and (3) impartialty. By identifying these principles, state and non-state actors are expected to be able to represent the moral space agreed upon by communicative transnational environmental responsibility. Normative objectives resulting from transnational environmental responsibility are rights based on rights, binding environmental norms with constitutional rights or human rights law based on the state. Keywords: Transnational environmental obligations, moral principles, haze pollution

Abstract How should we think about the winners and losers from globalization? What role can narrative analysis play in doing so? We argue that to be useful, identifying politically relevant narratives on the distributional effects of globalization, and the role played by trade agreements in fostering such effects, must have an empirical basis. Characterizing different narratives and inferring from each the implications for the (re-)design of international agreements without analysis whether the suggested policy reforms will help losers from globalization does not advance matters. Effectively employed, narrative analysis can extend our knowledge of the politics of trade and policy towards globalization more generally. To do so, it must have an analytical foundation, centre on the relationship of the narrative to the facts, ask which narrative is more persuasive based on empirical evidence and assess whether inferred policy implications will address the core issues of concern to those who employ the narrative.
