Abstract The data from an Iris flower database is studied. The Iris database is the most commonly used database for machine learning algorithms. The Iris database was developed by Ronald Aylmer Fisher in 1936. The Iris database has 150 records in three categories: Iris Sentosa, Iris Versicolor and Iris Virginic. The database has four attributes: sepal length, sepal width, petal length and petal width. For the machine learning algorithm, 150 Iris flower databases are used. Of the 150 Iris in the Iris database, 80% are used as the training set and the remaining 20% Iris as the test set. In machine learning, to perform classification and discrimination is a complicated and difficult thing. In this study, a grey relation grade is used to extract the main features of the Iris flower and a Binary Tree [1] is used to classify the Irises. The results show that for the same specific attributes, grey relation grade extracts the main attributes and can be used in combination with a binary for classification.

14-3-3 proteins play a major role in the regulation of primary metabolism, protein transport, ion channel activity, signal transduction and biotic/abiotic stress responses. However, their involvement in petal growth and development is largely unknown. Here, we identified and characterized the expression patterns of seven genes of the 14-3-3 family in gerbera. While none of the genes showed any tissue or developmental specificity of spatiotemporal expression, all seven predicted proteins have the nine α-helices typical of 14-3-3 proteins. Following treatment with brassinolide, an endogenous brassinosteroid, the Gh14-3-3 genes displayed various response patterns; for example, Gh14-3-3b and Gh14-3-3f reached their highest expression level at early (2 h) and late (24 h) timepoints, respectively. Further study revealed that overexpression of Gh14-3-3b or Gh14-3-3f promoted cell elongation, leading to an increase in ray petal length. By contrast, silencing of Gh14-3-3b or Gh14-3-3f inhibited petal elongation, which was eliminated partly by brassinolide. Correspondingly, the expression of petal elongation-related and brassinosteroid signaling-related genes was modified in transgenic petals. Taken together, our research suggests that Gh14-3-3b and Gh14-3-3f are positive regulators of brassinosteroid-induced ray petal elongation and thus provides novel insights into the molecular mechanism of petal growth and development.

Saffron is an aromatic herb appreciated for its olfactory qualities, but also for its medicinal contributions, having multiple pharmaceutical properties. The cultivation of saffron in Romania is rather little known, the scientific data obtained being of interest for farmers who want to start such a culture. In this paper two populations of saffron were studied, the bulbs being of the same origin and age, grown in two different localities in western Romania: Izvin and Cicir. Regarding the quality characteristics, the two cultures belong to quality categories 1 and 2, and analyses were determined on moisture, colouring power (crocin), aromatic power (safranal) and bitterness power (picrocrocin). From a quantitative point of view, the variability of morphological characters, the manifestation of morphological characters, the coefficients of corallance on characters such as: number of bulbs, total diameter of bulbs, diameter of dominant bulb, length of leaflet, leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves dominant bulb, petal length, petal width, petal number, stamen length, stigma length were determined.

Artabotrys pachypetalussp. nov. is described from Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hunan and Jiangxi in China. A detailed description, distribution data, along with a color plate and a line drawing are provided. In China, specimens representing this species were formerly misidentified as A. multiflorus or A. hongkongensis (= A. blumei). Artabotrys blumei typically has a single flower per inflorescence, whereas both Artabotrys pachypetalus and A. multiflorus have multiple flowers per inflorescence. In addition, A. pachypetalus is readily distinguished from A. multiflorus in having thicker and shorter petals, and connivent and somewhat trigonal or terete inner petal blades. Artabotrys pachypetalus is most similar to A. punctulatus because both have multi-flowered inflorescences and similar petal length, but A. pachypetalus differs in having cream petals in vivo, connivent inner petal blades, and a short, raised rim above the inner petal claw. Artabotrys multiflorus should be excluded from the flora of China because none of the Chinese specimens of Artabotrys collected so far fall within the variation of A. multiflorus.

In this paper, we propose to compactify a single Large Extra Dimension (LED) on a star/rose graph with a large number of identical leaves/petals. The 5D Planck scale can be chosen to be [Formula: see text] TeV which can provide a path to solve the gauge hierarchy problem. The leaf/petal length scale is of [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] GeV is the weak scale, without the large geometrical hierarchy of the traditional LED models to stabilize. The 4D fields of the SM are localized on a 3-brane at the central vertex of the star/rose graph. We predict a tower of feebly coupled weak scale Kaluza–Klein (KK) gravitons below a regime of strongly coupled gravitational phenomena above the TeV scale. Moreover, we reformulate in our setup the LED mechanism to generate light Dirac neutrinos, where the right-handed neutrinos are KK-modes of gauge singlet fermions propagating in the bulk. A large number of KK-gravitons and KK-neutrinos interact only gravitationally and thus constitute a hidden sector.

In this study which was carried out during the 2015 summer season in Eskişehir, the flower, pod and seed characters attributed to yield components were investigated in 12 forage pea genotypes. They showed significant differences in terms of agronomic and morphological (flower, pod, and seed) traits. The highest fresh hay yield with 2171 kg/da and plant height with 106.6 cm were obtained from Populasyon-1. Crackerjack had lower values in some flower traits such as, whereas the higher values of pod and seed traits were obtained from cv. Rose. In addition, Population-1 included in the higher value group for standard petal width, keel petal length, calyx tube and teeth lengths, and flower length. Although cluster analysis did not reflect agronomic traits, the clustering resulted in four groups. The first group consisted of Özkaynak 1, 2, and 3 and Taşkent, Töre, and Population-2, which were the standard petal colour violet, light, and dark violet. Population-1 had both violet and white standard petal; however, it was included in the second group together with white-flowered Ulubatlı and Ürünlü according to cluster analysis. While Rose and Gölyazı were in the third group, Crackerjack was in the fourth group alone. There was a highly significant positive correlation between fresh hay yield and both standard petal width and length and flower length. Consequently, a hopeful result for summer growing in Eskişehir condition was obtained from Population-1. It was suggested that some flower characters can be used for pre-selection of yield-related traits in the evaluation of genetic diversity of pea germplasm through morphological trait.

To evaluate the hypothesis of competitive superiority of invasive species, we compared the invasive Impatiens parviflora DC. and I. Glandulifera royle, the naturalized I. Nevskii pobed. and the native I. Noli-tangere L. in the flowers’ morphometric characters at different phases of anthesis. The characters in which alien species have a competitive superiority over closely related I. Noli-tangere are revealed. Morphological variability was studied by morphometric observations of the following characters: bud: length and diameter; spurred sepal: length and width; spur: length and diameter; lateral sepal: length and width; largest petal: length and death; large lobe of lateral petal: length and width; small lobe of lateral petal: length and width; anther: length; stamen’s filament: length; calyptra: length and width; ovary: length and diameter; length of a style, length of a stigma. There is a tendency for alien Impatiens species of the earlier development of androecium and gynoecium: сaliptra is formed at the stage of uncolored bud, the pistil is differentiated in ovary, short style and stigma is formed at the stage of colored bud. No other flowers’ morphometric characters, representing competitive advantage of the invasive I. Glandulifera and I. Parviflora over the native I. Noli-tangere and naturalized I. Nevskii were identified.

Tamarix L. (Tamaricaceae) is a halophytic shrub in different parts of Asia and North Africa. Taxonomy and species limitation of Tamarix is very complex. This genus has three sections as Tamarix, Oligadenia, and Polyadenia, which are mainly separated by petal length, the number of stamens, the shape of androecial disk and attachment of filament on the androecial disk. As there was no palynological data on pollen features of Tamarix species of Iran, in the present study 12 qualitative and quantitative pollen features were evaluated to find diagnostic ones. Pollen grains of 8 Tamarix species were collected from nature. Pollen grains were studied without any treatment. Measurements were based on at least 50 pollen grains per specimen. Light and scanning electron microscopes were used. Multivariate statistical methods were applied to clarify the species relationships based on pollen data. All species studied showed monad and tricolpate (except some individuals of T. androssowii). Some Tamarix species show a high level of variability, in response to ecological niches and phenotypic plasticity, which make Tamarix species separation much more difficult. Based on the results of the present study, pollen grains features are not in agreement with previous morphological and molecular genetics about the sectional distinction.

Danhatchia novaehollandiae D.L.Jones & M.A.Clem. and D. australis (Hatch) Garay & Christenson were separated at species rank due to differences in petal length and flower opening, with the Australian species having smaller, tardily opening flowers. From this, flower lengths for Australia and New Zealand are expected to be bi-modally distributed with peaks at c. 3 mm and c. 5 mm respectively. Flowers on all available herbarium specimens in AK, CANB, and NSW were measured, and flower length was found to be unimodal, with nearly identical ranges in Australian and New Zealand plants. Flower size variation in Australian and New Zealand Danhatchia specimens has two significant contributing components, inter-individual variation, and ontogenetic variation where flowers increase in size as they age. Dimensions previously recorded for the two species reflect upper and lower limits on the range of variation in flower size present in both New Zealand and Australia, respectively. Within herbarium material, 20% of flowers on New Zealand specimens, and 40% of flowers on Australian specimens exhibited signs of opening. There was no correlation between flower size and opening, as might be expected if the two species were both present in Australia and/or New Zealand. Neither the biogeographic context, pollination system, nor morphological evidence support Danhatchia australis and D. novaehollandiae as distinct species.

The ornamentally important genus Adonis L. (Ranunculaceae) consists of about 30 species. In Iran, 8 species are recognized. The new classification system recognizes two subgenera, six sections, and six series for Adonis. The species differentiation within the genus is controversial due to morphological overlaps in different species and extensive morphological variation. Therefore, the aims of present study were: 1- Species delimitation within the Sect. Adonis based on morphological and molecular evidences and, 2- Studying the species relationship based on molecular phylogeny. Multivariate analyses of morphological and molecular (ITS and ISSR) data differentiated the Adonis species. PCA biplot analysis of morphological characters revealed morphological characters such as leaf arrangement; leaf length, flower diameter, petal length and width, calyx length, and pedicel length are of taxonomic implication in Adonis. Bayesian tree of ITS sequences revealed that the sect. Adonis is differentiated from the sect. Adonanthe. Based on ITS data, A. microcarpa showed close affinity to A. scrobiculata, while A. aestivalis, A. icrocarpa and A.dentata were close to each other.
