Abstract: Benzothiazoles have recognized pharmacophores in the field of research, predominantly in synthetic and medicinal chemistry, on account of their significant pharmaceutical properties. This important class of derivatives endows an extensive range of biological activities like anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, anticancer, anticonvulsant, antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, antituberculosis, enzyme inhibitors, etc. Hence, various methodologies have been accomplished to synthesize benzothiazole compounds considering the purity, yield, and selectivity of the products. This review provides different reaction methods that are involved in the synthesis of a variety of benzothiazole derivatives.

To help protect the environment as well as increase agricultural production, the use of synthetic herbicides must be reduced and replaced with plant-based bioherbicides. Elaeocarpus floribundus is a perennial, evergreen, and medium-sized plant grown in different areas of the world. The pharmaceutical properties and various uses of Elaeocarpus floribundus have been reported, but its allelopathic potential has not yet been explored. Thus, we carried out the present study to identify allelopathic compounds from Elaeocarpus floribundus. Aqueous MeOH extracts of Elaeocarpus floribundus significantly suppressed the growth of the tested species (cress and barnyard grass) in a dose- and species-dependent way. The three most active allelopathic substances were isolated via chromatographic steps and characterized as (3R)-3-hydroxy-β-ionone, cis-3-hydroxy-α-ionone, and loliolide. All three substances significantly limited the seedling growth of cress, and the compound (3R)-3-hydroxy-β-ionone had stronger allelopathic effects than cis-3-hydroxy-α-ionone and loliolide. The concentrations of the compounds required for 50% growth inhibition (I50 value) of the cress seedlings were in the range of 0.0001–0.0005 M. The findings of this study indicate that all three phytotoxic substances contribute to the phytotoxicity of Elaeocarpus floribundus.

Cosmetic industry are updating and improving rapidly by implementing new trends and technologies. The term Cosmeceuticals was first coined in 1984 by Albert Kligman. The word Cosmeceuticals is fusion of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. It means they possess combination of cosmetic and pharmaceutical properties. In simple words cosmecuticals are applied topically as cosmetics but as we know that they contain pharmaceutical properties too so they affect the skin's biological function. In last 2 to 3 decades cosmeceutical market is booming in the cosmetic as well as pharmaceutical industries. Every person wants to look beautiful and use of cosmeceuticals is the current trend to beautify your outer look. Now cosmeceuticals is considered as one of the fastest growing segment of the natural personal care industry. The use of cosmeceuticals has radically scaled in last decades. Some new advancement and technologies are entering in this cosmetic industries i.e. nanotechnology. Since last few decades, the nanotechnology has been acquired importance in numerous areas of science. Nano science has grown greatly, reason behind that is nanomaterials have extensive applications in material science, engineering, and medicine. Nanocosmetics are over taking the new cosmeceutical market. Nanocarriers are used to deliver cosmecutical ingredients topically. Hence this review tries to understand the basic information of cosmeceuticals, nanocosmeticsand some other related advancement in cosmetic industry. The difference between drug, cosmetics, cosmeceuticals, nanocosmetics, is also considered in this article. This paper also aims to highlight the beauty care industry and tries to comprehensive information of cosmeceuticals and nanotechnology used in cosmetic industry.

The energy-coupling factor (ECF) transporters are a family of transmembrane proteins involved in the uptake of vitamins in a wide range of bacteria. Inhibition of the activity of these proteins could reduce the viability of pathogens that depend on vitamin uptake. Their central role in the metabolism of bacteria and absence in humans make the ECF transporters a potential antibacterial target, which can be further investigated making use of a selective chemical probe. Here, we report on the virtual screening, design, synthesis, structure–activity relationships (SARs) and coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations of the first class of inhibitors of the ECF transporters. We investigated the mechanism of action of this chemical class and profiled the best hit compounds regarding their pharmaceutical properties. The optimized hit has a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value of 2 µg/mL against Streptococcus pneumoniae, which opens up the possibility to use this chemical class to investigate the role of the ECF transporters in health and disease.

Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna Jacq.) is a wild edible fruit tree of the genus Crataegus, one of the most interesting genera of the Rosaceae family. This review is the first to consider, all together, the pharmaceutical, phytochemical, functional and therapeutic properties of C. monogyna based on numerous valuable secondary metabolites, including flavonoids, vitamin C, glycoside, anthocyanin, saponin, tannin and antioxidants. Previous reviews dealt with the properties of all species of the entire genera. We highlight the multi-therapeutic role that C. monogyna extracts could have in the treatment of different chronic and degenerative diseases, mainly focusing on flavonoids. In the first part of this comprehensive review, we describe the main botanical characteristics and summarize the studies which have been performed on the morphological and genetic characterization of the C. monogyna germplasm. In the second part, the key metabolites and their nutritional and pharmaceutical properties are described. This work could be an essential resource for promoting future therapeutic formulations based on this natural and potent bioactive plant extract.

Introduction: Compliance is a process where the patient follows the prescribed and dispensed regimen as intended by the prescriber. Poor compliance has been reported as it is the most common cause of non-response to medication. There is no single best indicator to assess      patient compliance in Health Research. This study aims to develop and validate a new questionnaire considering the pharmaceutical properties of Ayurvedic medicines to measure patient compliance. Methods: The first phase consisted of a qualitative phase to identify the variables to measure patient compliance through in-depth interviews among five doctors and focus group discussion with eight practitioners, and pre-test with respondents, experts, and peers. The second phase was a quantitative phase to assess the respective responses of patients towards the questionnaire through a cross-sectional survey among 106 subjects as a pilot study. Results: The qualitative analysis reported variables that were seen spread across eight domains were used to measure compliance. Conclusion: Ayurvedic treatment is personalized and there is always a scope for a remake of formulation designing for each individual. Sticking on to appropriate prescriptions after properly assessing the needs of the patient and the reason for their non-compliance can bring a revolution in terms of cost-effectiveness and time. The wastage of medicines, whether raw drugs or processed ones can be prevented by recognizing the factors for non-compliance. There is always a scope for improvement with further alike or more developed research in patient compliance in Ayurveda.

Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) is a spice plant grown in the tropics that contains both an essential oil and an oleoresin. The essential oil is important as a flavouring and has pharmaceutical properties, while the oleoresin is bright yellow in colour and has medicinal properties. The essential oil has traditionally been extracted by hydrodistillation/steam distillation with the total extract being extracted by solvent extraction and more recently by supercritical fluid extraction (SFE). The objective of the work described in this paper was to investigate the possibility of extracting the essential oil using sub-critical fluid extraction and to compare it with hydrodistillation. The experiments using hydrodistillation showed that unpeeled fresh turmeric was the preferred raw material, giving an oil yield of ≈6% dry weight basis, which is similar to that reported in the literature. The experimental programme on the extraction of the oil from dried unpeeled turmeric was carried out over a temperature range from 25 to 30 °C and pressures from 65 to 71 bar. Yields were generally higher than hydrodistillation (up to ≈9% dry weight basis) as were the compositions of the extracted oils. The preferred operating conditions were determined to be 25 °C temperature and 65 bar pressure. Curcumin, the major component of the oleoresin, was not found in the oil, thereby demonstrating that the sub-critical extract is a pure essential oil. It is suggested that consideration be given to evaluating an SFE process whereby the essential oil is initially fully extracted under sub-critical fluid extraction conditions, after which the oleoresin is extracted separately by raising the pressure to ≈250 bar.

High blood pressure is the main risk factor for cardiovascular disease and should be controlled primarily by changes in lifestyle, such as regular exercise, a low-salt diet, and weight loss in overweight or obesity. If lifestyle changes are not enough, many types of medications can be used to control high blood pressure; however, side effects constitute one of the most critical limitations of conventional medicines associated with high blood pressure. For this reason, the use of traditional and herbal medicines has been welcomed by the public for many years. Sour tea (Hibiscus sabdariffa) is one of the most suitable herbal medicines for hypertension. According to research results, sour tea has the same effect as conventional medicines without serious side effects. The present study introduces sour tea as a suitable herbal medicine for high blood pressure to provide readers of this article with a comprehensive understanding of the medicinal properties of sour tea for the treatment of hypertension and its effects on several other common diseases, including cancer.

Antibiotics are the class of drugs used for bacterial, viral & fungal infection. Antibiotic resistance is the ability of microorganism to withstand themselves against the effects of a drug. Every year antibiotic resistance causes more than 38000 deaths in Thailand, 23000 deaths in USA. In South Asia one new born child dies every 5 minutes from blood stream infection because antibiotics given are ineffective due to bacterial resistance. Now antibiotic resistance is a threat to global health. In this paper, triazene derivatives are kept in concern.  Triazines are six-membered, nitrogen-containing heterocyclic scaffold with a wide range of pharmaceutical properties such as antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer, antioxidants, antitubercular, antimalarial and anti-inflammatory. Due to lack of new antibiotics as well older antibiotic are rapidly proving ineffective, derivatives of triazine would be of great significance in future prospective.
