The success of an institution is mainly dependent on its effective human capital and in execution of strategic sustainable HR functions. Currently, human resources are under colossal pressure to ascertain its value, facing severe demands to create an innovative, resultoriented workforce. Ecological - connect practices save money through awareness and communication while reducing environmental predicaments. Personal or professional engagement of individuals will have a long-lasting effect on the environment. Innovation coupled with business processes can change the mindsets of people and businesses and reduce incremental costs. The hallmark of ecological - connect is that it brings about enduring stress - induced thinking competence. One of the prime doctrines of ecological - connect is maximization of positive benefits of an institution for all stakeholders and specifically it should commence with its domestic human resources

Diabetes mellitus is a strong molecular etiological upstream event that leads to different pathological problems like Cardio-vascular disease, nephropathy, neuropathy, retinopathy, hearing loss, and immunological disturbances, the most common of which is depression. Diabetes and depression relationship is thought to be bidirectional, meaning that depression can lead to diabetes and diabetes can assist the onset of depression. Depression is one of the most overlooked symptoms in diabetes patients, and it is strongly related to a decline in quality of life. Several pathological links are discussed in this review, including dysregulation of the hypothalamic pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and neurotransmitter systems, particularly the monoaminergic system, the role of oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and cell death, impaired neurogenesis and BDNF synthesis, particularly in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex, brain areas that regulate emotional behaviour, and finally, epigenetic factors.

Abstract This study explores the depictions of landscapes and emotions in the ninth-century hagiographies associated with Liudger: the three vitae Liudgeri and Liudger’s own vita Gregorii. The Frisian missionary founded the monastery of Werden, situated near the Frankish-Saxon frontier. It will be argued that previous historiography on early medieval frontiers has predominantly focused on the military nature of frontiers. Here, more cultural or symbolic natures of the Frankish-Saxon frontier will be discussed. The hagiographical narratives will be examined in conjunction with the notion of a frontier as a ‘third space’. The vitae Liudgeri shaped a discourse that legitimated Liudger’s translation to Werden. This resulted in the creation of a new place of Christian worship in the competitive landscape of post-conquest Saxony, as part of the Christianization of the region. Monasteries like Werden were the places where new missionaries were educated who would continue this Christianization. Exemplary emotional behaviour of the saints, narrated in hagiographies, could help instruct this new generation. Altfrid and Liudger tried to dissuade emotions of anger, indicated by ira or furor, with their hagiographical narratives. These two perspectives offer a glimpse into the attempts of a local monastery to stand out in the Frankish-Saxon frontier.

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is primarily responsible for maintaining homeostasis, a balance in internal environment (temperature, mood, and immune system) and energy input and output in living, biological systems. In addition to regulating physiological processes, the ECS directly influences anxiety, feeding behaviour/appetite, emotional behaviour, depression, nervous functions, neurogenesis, neuroprotection, reward, cognition, learning, memory, pain sensation, fertility, pregnancy, and pre-and post-natal development. The ECS is also involved in several pathophysiological diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases. In recent years, genetic and pharmacological manipulation of the ECS has gained significant interest in medicine, research, and drug discovery and development. The distribution of the components of the ECS system throughout the body, and the physiological/pathophysiological role of the ECS-signalling pathways in many diseases, all offer promising opportunities for the development of novel cannabinergic, cannabimimetic, and cannabinoid-based therapeutic drugs that genetically or pharmacologically modulate the ECS via inhibition of metabolic pathways and/or agonism or antagonism of the receptors of the ECS. This modulation results in the differential expression/activity of the components of the ECS that may be beneficial in the treatment of a number of diseases. This manuscript in-depth review will investigate the potential of the ECS in the treatment of various diseases, and to put forth the suggestion that many of these secondary metabolites of Cannabis sativa L. (hereafter referred to as “C. sativa L.” or “medical cannabis”), may also have potential as lead compounds in the development of cannabinoid-based pharmaceuticals for a variety of diseases.

Analysing the emotional behaviour of adolescents is fundamental because of its relationship with maladaptive behaviour and even possible psychological maladjustments. For this reason, this study had two objectives: to analyse the existence of significant differences in socio-emotional behaviour in English, Spanish, and Chilean adolescents, taking gender into account, and to analyse the relationship between emotional behaviour and the effective personality model in the Spanish and Chilean samples. A total of 2534 adolescents participated (609 English, 1677 Spanish, and 248 Chilean). The Abbreviated Scale of Emotional Behaviour (ECEA_R: aggressive tendency, social reactivity, and social support) and the Effective Personality Questionnaire—Adolescents (CPE-A: academic self-realisation, socio-affective self-realisation, and resolute efficacy) were applied. A MANOVA was carried out to study the differences in adolescents’ socio-emotional behaviour, taking gender and nationality into account, and a correlational analysis was undertaken to explore the relationship between the variables of emotional behaviour (aggressive tendency, social reactivity, and social support) and effective personality (academic self-realisation, socio-affective self-realisation, and resolute efficacy). Regarding the first objective, for aggressive tendency, English male adolescents stood out, followed by Spanish and Chilean male adolescents and females of all nationalities. In terms of social reactivity, female adolescents stood out over male adolescents and, with regard to social support, Spanish adolescents (male and female) stood out over other nationalities, followed by Chilean and English adolescents (males and females). The results of the second objective indicated a negative relationship between aggressive tendency and academic self-realisation, but a positive relationship for social reactivity and social support (only in the Spanish sample) with most of the effective personality factors. The results are relevant for the application of prevention and intervention programs that improve or implement social and affective competencies in adolescents who develop the effective personality construct.

The education of peace has become a prominent pre-requisite for societies to survive in this competitive globalised system. As a result of the tremendous technological development, especially in communications and the intermingling of interests among members of societies, and the codification of many issues of common concern among nations, it is very necessary to set foundations for peaceful co-existence among human beings. Johnson and Johnson, stated that students should be equipped with core values such as respect for the efforts and ideas of others, an inclusive relationship with people, skills for compassion and peaceful conflict resolution. Furthermore, the present chapter provided a study of peace education program (PEP) for pre-school children aged (4–6) years in Oman. Where the program contains (28) training sessions are offered within (15) weeks at the rate of one hour per session. The researcher used a scale of two images, the behaviour of the children was measured before and after the experiment, where the researcher adopted the quasi experimental method, the sample consisted of (40) children in the experimental group and (40) children in the control group. In addition, the results of the study were in favour of the experimental group, where an improvement in their behaviour was observed after being enrolled in the program.

Sotsiaal-emotsionaalsed oskused on sotsiaalse pädevuse oluline osa. Eestis puuduvad sobilikud mõõtevahendid koolieelikute sotsiaal-emotsionaalse arengu hindamiseks. 2009. aastal kohandati TÜK Lastekliinikus eesti keelde küsimustike "Ages and Stages: Social-Emotional Questionnaires" (ASQ:SE) 2001. aastal ilmunud metoodika. 2015. aastal ilmus ASQ:SE parandatud versioon (ASQ:SE-2), mis nüüdseks samuti eestindatud. Siinse töö eesmärk on tutvustada eestindatud ASQ:SE-2 36 kuu vanuste laste küsimustiku sobivust eesti laste sotsiaal-emotsionaalse arengu hindamiseks (sh täpsustada küsimustiku psühhomeetrilisi näitajaid). Uuringus osales 62 last vanuses 31–43 kuud. Tulemustest selgus, et eestikeelse ASQ:SE-2 36 kuu vanuste laste küsimustiku sisereliaablus on aktsepteeritav (α = 0,719), spetsiifilisus ja sensitiivsus on vastavalt 81,5 ja 66,7 protsenti, võrdlev valiidsus rahuldav (r = –0,629, p < 0,00). Esmased tulemused kinnitasid ASQ:SE-2 36 kuu vanuste laste hindamiseks mõeldud küsimustiku sobivust eesti laste sotsiaalemotsionaalse arengu sõeltestimiseks.  Summary
