AbstractBackgroundMusculoskeletal disorders are growing public health problems both in developed and developing countries including Ethiopia. However, its prevention and control has not yet received due attention. This study aimed to determine.the prevalence and associated factors of musculoskeletal disorders musculoskeletal disorders among cleaners of health institutions in Gondar town, Northwest EthiopiaMethodAn institutional based cross-sectional study was conducted, from April to May 2016 in all health institutions of Gondar town. All the available cleaners of health institutions were taken as study participants. Data were collected by face-to-face interview technique after verbal informed consent. Additionally, weight and height of participants were measured following standard procedures. Data were collected by trained physiotherapists and then entered into a computer using Epi Info version 3.5.3 and exported to SPSS version 20 for analysis. Descriptive statistics was performed to describe the data in percentage and mean. Multiple logistic regressions were fitted and Odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals were calculated to identify associated factors.ResultsA total of 242 participants were included in this study. The majority of the study participants were females (79.3%) and between 25-44 age group (65.3%). Two hundred 0ne (83.1%) of the respondents reported that they had pain in at least one of the body parts in the previous 12 months. Of the nine body parts examined, neck (76%), upper back (40.5%) and lower back (45%) were the most frequently body parts reported to exhibit pain. Job status (AOR = 2.71, 95%CI; 1.37-5.36), and static work habit (AOR = 2.71, 95%CI; 1.37-5.36), were factors associated with musculoskeletal disorders.ConclusionThere is a high prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among cleaners in the health institutions of Gondar Town. Job status and static work habit were the significant associated factors. Hence, we recommend the design and implementation of institution based screening programs for musculoskeletal disorders

The study was aimed to assess urban induced land use land cover changes in the upper Deme watershed. Three satellite images of 1986, 2002, and 2019 were analyzed by ArcGIS and processed by supervised classification. Land use land cover change in the watershed increased for settlement, bare land, and croplands in the period 1986-2019 by 56.6%, 53%, and 0.25%, respectively. However, the land use land cover change in the watershed decreased for a water body, forest, and grassland by 65%, 57.7%, and 7%, respectively. These enforced to change the work habit and social bases. Out of converted lands, during 1986-2002, 34.9%, 53%, 18%, 40.9%, and 10.6% of bare land, cropland, forest land, grassland, and water bodies, respectively, in the upper Deme watershed were changed into settlement areas. During 2002-2019, 30.7%, 36.8%, 26.9%, 66%, and 33.3% of bare land, cropland, forest land, grassland, and water bodies, respectively, were changed into settlement areas. This shows urbanization results in a different change in economic, social, land use land cover, and watershed management activities in the upper Deme watershed.

Industrial revolution 4.0 creates various improvements toward technology utilisation in every sector, offering efficiencies in every part of life. As a consequence, the government needs to respond to it in public service practices. Therefore, digital competency is mandatory for Indonesian civil servants. Due to the lack of civil servant's competency in technology usage and the bureaucratic environment, the Indonesian government sees this as a big challenge. Moreover, digital competency improvement must be carried out from both training and development in terms of competency development. Thus, using a qualitative descriptive method with a desk study review from various literature sources, such as books and news (printed and online), this paper offers an overview of the challenges and solutions in implementing digital competency in the public sector, both internally and externally. Internally, the technology utilisation solutions are focused on technology infrastructure improvement, strengthening civil servant's competencies, work habit transformation, and organisational relations. On the other hand, from the external side, the solution comes from the contract-based government employee’s (PPPK) recruitment and collaboration with the private sector, as often done by many government agencies. However, whatever solution is chosen, strengthening the usage of information technology in the public sector will always face challenges.

The present study investigates the factors of “Weekday sleep debt (WSD)” by comparing activity data collected from persons with and without WSD. Since it has been reported that the amount of sleep debt as well the difference between the social clock and the biological clock is associated with WSD, specifying the factors of WSD other than chronotype may contribute to sleep debt prevention. We recruited 324 healthy male employees working at the same company and collected their 1-week wrist actigraphy data and answers to questionnaires. Because 106 participants were excluded due to measurement failure of the actigraphy data, the remaining 218 participants were included in the analysis. All participants were classified into WSD or non-WSD groups, in which persons had WDS if the difference between their weekend sleep duration and the mean weekday sleep duration was more than 120 min. We evaluated multiple measurements derived from the collected actigraphy data and trained a classifier that predicts the presence of WSD using these measurements. A support vector machine (SVM) was adopted as the classifier. In addition, to evaluate the contribution of each indicator to WSD, permutation feature importance was calculated based on the trained classifier. Our analysis results showed significant importance of the following three out of the tested 32 factors: (1) WSD was significantly related to persons with evening tendency. (2) Daily activity rhythms and sleep were less stable in the WSD group than in the non-WSD group. (3) A specific day of the week had the highest importance in our data, suggesting that work habit contributes to WSD. These findings indicate some WSD factors: evening chronotype, instability of the daily activity rhythm, and differences in work habits on the specific day of the week. Thus, it is necessary to evaluate the rhythms of diurnal activities as well as sleep conditions to identify the WSD factors. In particular, the diurnal activity rhythm influences WSD. It is suggested that proper management of activity rhythm may contribute to the prevention of sleep debt.

Kata kunci: Ciri kerja; prestasi kerja; teknologi maklumat; sektor awam This study analyzed job characteristics and performance of Information Technology professionals at the Information Technology centers of the public sector of Malaysia. Job characteristics were analyzed based on the Job Characteristics Model by Hackman and Oldham. Performance on the other hand was analyzed using a simplified Behavior Identification Form, originally developed by Butterbusch in 1985. The relationship between job characteristic and performance was determined using the Mann–Whitney U test. Job characteristics showed a high score on job significance and dealing with others but low on task authority. Job performance showed high productivity and high social behavior but low on work habit and attitudes. This research found that there is a significant relationship between job characteristics and performance of Information Technology professionals of the Malaysian public sector departments.
