Abstract Text readability metrics assess how much effort a reader must put into comprehending a given text. They are, e.g., used to choose appropriate readings for different student proficiency levels, or to make sure that crucial information is efficiently conveyed (e.g., in an emergency). Flesch Reading Ease is such a globally used formula that it is even integrated into the MS Word Processor. However, its constants are language-dependent. The original formula was created for English. So far it has been adapted to several European languages, Bangla, and Hindi. This paper describes the Czech adaptation, with the language-dependent constants optimized by a machine-learning algorithm working on parallel corpora of Czech and English, Russian, Italian, and French, respectively.

The relevance of information and communication technology in developing nations of the world like Nigeria cannot be undermined, considering the indispensable role it plays in nations’ development and provision of basic facilities for improvement in standards of living of citizens. In this context, science education lecturers need to be fully equipped with basic skills in information and communication technology. This study therefore, is an attempt to assess Science Education Lecturers’ competency in information and communication technology in Rivers State. Descriptive survey design was adopted and the sample comprised 85 Science Education Lecturers in Rivers State Tertiary Institutions. The instrument was Competency in Information and Communication Technology Questionnaire validated by two Science Education Lecturers. The instruments’ reliability coefficient of 0.76 was determined by test-retest method using Pearson Product Moment Correlation formula. Mean and standard deviation were used for answering research questions while hypotheses were tested using t-test at .05 level of significance. Findings of the study revealed low level of competency of science education lecturers in information and communication technology with regards to use of presentation tools to support on-line instructions, test, assignments, e-mail, face book, internet and cybercafé, analysis of a course work, results computation, course evaluation, word processor for personal and instructional purpose, spreadsheet for personal and instructional purpose, collection and storage of data and decision making. There was no significant difference in male and female lecturers’ level of competency in information and communication technology as well as university and college of education science education lecturers in Rivers State. It was recommended among others that Government should ensure adequate training of science education lectures on the use of information and communication technology facilities and also assist them acquire laptops and software packages.

Abstract: Training on word processor and spreadsheet is needed for government employees at UPT Pengelolaan Irigasi Asahan Danau Toba in making reports such as annual report, financial report, performance report, and etc. The government employees have had the basic knowledge of using word processor and spreadsheet, but there are still many advanced fiture that never used before to fastened the process of reporting making.   The lecturer team of Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen Informatika dan Komputer Royal is making a community service in UPT Pengelolaan Irigasi Asahan Danau Toba in February 2021. Training method is a practical training to allow the participants implement the given knowledge. The training is running well and get the positive result from the participants and the head of UPT Pengelolaan Irigasi Asahan Danau Toba. The training result is shown by enhancement of the ability in understanding and practising the training materials of word processing and spreadsheet for making reporting during the session.           Keywords: government employee, reporting; spreadsheet; word processor Abstrak: Pelatihan pemantapan pengolah kata dan angka sangat dibutuhkan oleh pegawai pemerintahan khususnya di UPT Pengelolaan Irigasi Asahan Danau Toba dalam pembuatan laporan seperti laporan tahunan, laporan keuangan, laporan kinerja dan lain-lain.

In various guises, this is a common question, seemingly innocent, but actually betraying a fundamental confusion about LaTeX directory, and the levels of operation in the TeX World; concepts, distributions, distributions, variants and the TeX family and friends (i.e., users, contributors, dependent and extended language & softwares). TeX is a typesetting language developed by Donald E. Kunth, today’s worldwide de facto standard for high quality document typesetting.  LateX is a Tex based typesetting system and collection of macros for document compilation and publication - not a word processor. MiKTeX is a compiler and an  Windows O/S based TeX/LaTeX distributions. The purpose of this read is to clear the confusion and give a comprehensive introduction to the World of LaTeX, hence provide information and technical bases for anyone, authors including academias to choose between LaTeX/Tex distributions to install given the features of the offered LaTeX engines and Compilers needed by their project or document typesetting. This fills the gaps in knowledge and literature, aside numerous plagiarized blogs , confusing articles (as learning latex itself) , confusing articles (as learning latex itself) and guidelines relating to scientific typesetting, LaTeX distributions, .tex editors, LaTeX distributions, .tex editors, Latex2e, LaTeX3 and the the LaTeX family.

AbstractIn this paper, I analyze the role of metaphors in public science communication. Specifically, it is a case study of the metaphors for CRISPR/Cas9, a controversial biotechnology that enables scientists to alter the DNA of any organism with unprecedented ease and has raised a number of societal, ethical and legal questions concerning its applications – most notably, on its usage on the human germline. Using a corpus of 600 newspaper articles from the British and German press, I show that there are striking differences in how these two European countries construe CRISPR in public discourse: the British press promotes the image of CRISPR as a word processor that allows scientists to edit the DNA, replacing spelling mistakes with healthy genes, whereas the German press depicts CRISPR as genetic scissors and thereby underlines the risk of mutations after cutting the DNA. I suggest that this contrast reflects differences in the legal frameworks of the respective countries and may influence the attitudes towards emerging biotechnologies among the British and German public.

Malware detection of non-executables has recently been drawing much attention because ordinary users are vulnerable to such malware. Hangul Word Processor (HWP) is software for editing non-executable text files and is widely used in South Korea. New malware for HWP files continues to appear because of the circumstances between South Korea and North Korea. There have been various studies to solve this problem, but most of them are limited because they require a large amount of effort to define features based on expert knowledge. In this study, we designed a convolutional neural network to detect malware within HWP files. Our proposed model takes a raw byte stream as input and predicts whether it contains malicious actions or not. To incorporate highly variable lengths of HWP byte streams, we propose a new padding method and a spatial pyramid average pooling layer. We experimentally demonstrate that our model is not only effective, but also efficient.
