Abstract A comprehensive analysis of the physiological state of the so-iuy mullet, inhabiting the Sea of Azov, has been carried out during its pre-spawning period in 2020–2021. The hematological characteristics of the investigated individuals have been evaluated. It has been revealed that the content of protein and lipids in fish tissues was at the level of average longterm values. The content of protein and lipids in the gonads of females was significantly higher than that of males, which is explained by the forthcoming stage of spawning. It has been determined that the contribution of albumin to the total blood serum protein was minimal, which could be a consequence of the low feeding rate of the fish. At the same time, no stress effect was identified-glucose was within its normal range.

Kidney microphysiological systems (MPS) serve as valuable preclinical instruments in recapitulating physiological conditions and determining underlying interactions involved in renal clearance and osmoregulation. Current kidney MPS models target individual regions of the nephron, such as the glomerulus and proximal tubule, but fail to incorporate multiple filtration and absorption interfaces. In the current study, an in vitro MPS features key filtration and reabsorption properties of the human glomerulus and proximal tubule for seven days of operation. Three human-derived cell types, including the conditionally immortalized human podocytes (CIHP-1), human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), and human proximal tubule cells (HK-2), were adapted to serum-free medium prior to being seeded into the three-component MPS (T-Junction splitter, glomerular housing unit, and parallel proximal tubule barrier model), which was optimized using in silico computational modeling. The tri-culture MPS successfully filtered blood serum protein, resorbed glucose, and generated filtrate. This glomerulus and proximal convoluted tubule MPS is a novel system for both human-relevant testing and examining pharmacokinetic interactions.

The blood serum protein and electrolyte levels as well as the effects of age, sex and time of bleeding on these were investigated in a 2x2x2 factorial experiment using twenty four mature guinea fowls(Numedia melagris pallas). The results showed fiat the serum proteins and major electrolyte levels — sodium . (ppm), potassium. (ppm) calcium (mg/100 ml), magkesium (mg/100 ml) and phosphates mg/100ml) were respectively 2.45 ±0.04, 3231 56 ±107.52, 1301. 26 ±33.01, 14.16+0.0.54, 4.18+0.10 and 6.43 -_+_0.22. Sex, time of bleeding and sometimes age and their interactions had significant effect on the levels of these parameters in blood, Correlations between these were also calculated.

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the common symptoms experienced by some of the world community. Acupuncture as a method of healing a disease offers a solution for LBP symptom. This study aimed to determine the effect of acupuncture with local and Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture (YNSA) points with biochemical analysis related to total protein, albumin, and globulin, and analysis of blood serum protein profiles using the SDS-PAGE method. This research was conducted using sterile acupuncture needles that inserted in patients with several local points, namely BL22 (Sanjiaoshu), BL23 (Shenshu), BL24 (Qihaishu), BL25C (Dachangshu), and BL26C (Guanyuanshu) and combined with the YNSA points through somatotope D points and extra lumbar points H and I. Blood serum was collected for total protein, albumin, and globulin analysis. That blood serum was also used for protein profile analysis using Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) method. The results showed that six times of acupuncture treatments gave positive correlation in total protein, albumin, and globulin. Analysis of blood serum protein profiles using SDS-PAGE showed a protein band of about 12 KDa and it might be a interleukin-13 protein. The results were expected can be useful as scientific information especially related to acupuncture for LBP treatment and this of about 12 KDa protein band can be used as biomarker candidates for the symptoms.

High-grade astrocytomas are some of the most common and aggressive brain cancers, whose signs and symptoms are initially non-specific. Up to the present date, there are no diagnostic tools to observe the early onset of the disease. Here, we analyzed the combination of blood serum proteins, which may play key roles in the tumorigenesis and the progression of glial tumors. Fifty-nine astrocytoma patients and 43 control serums were analyzed using Custom Human Protein Antibody Arrays, including ten targets: ANGPT1, AREG, IGF1, IP10, MMP2, NCAM1, OPN, PAI1, TGFβ1, and TIMP1. The decision tree analysis indicates that serums ANGPT1, TIMP1, IP10, and TGFβ1 are promising combinations of targets for glioma diagnostic applications. The accuracy of the decision tree algorithm was 73.5% (75/102), which correctly classified 79.7% (47/59) astrocytomas and 65.1% (28/43) healthy controls. The analysis revealed that the relative value of osteopontin (OPN) protein level alone predicted the 12-month survival of glioblastoma (GBM) patients with the specificity of 84%, while the inclusion of the IP10 protein increased model predictability to 92.3%. In conclusion, the serum protein profiles of ANGPT1, TIMP1, IP10, and TGFβ1 were associated with the presence of astrocytoma independent of its malignancy grade, while OPN and IP10 were associated with GBM patient survival.

2D-IR spectroscopy is used to measure protein amide I bands in water, avoiding the need for deuteration. We show that H/D exchange affects protein vibrational relaxation dynamics and that the ability to perform 2D-IR in water enables blood serum protein analysis.
