Sugarcane (Saccharum Offcinarum L) is one of the important commodities for making sugar which has become a necessity for industry and households. Sugarcane which is processed into sugar granules or often known as brown sugar is located in the Ketol District, Central Aceh Regency. Central Aceh Regency, especially in Ketol District, West Blang Mancung Village, is one of the sugar cane producers. Sugarcane is an annual plant that has its own characteristics, because in the stem there is sugar, sugarcane plants belong to the grass family (Gramenia) such as rice, corn and others. Linear regression analysis is an indirect approach that is used to measure the effect of the volume of sugarcane juice on the wages of workers in the sugar mill Sulaiman Ali sugarcane mill, Ketol District, Central Aceh Regency. The results of the linear regression analysis obtained from the research results are the equation = 7179,497 + 14,464 X1. Where it means that every increase in the total volume of sugarcane juice by 14,464 will increase the wage income of milling workers at the Sulaiman Ali sugarcane refinery, Ketol District, Central Aceh Regency, amounting to Rp. 14,464 /person with an average income of Rp. Rp 34,656.25/person/one production process.

This work evaluated the effect of microfluidization at different pressure (50, 100, 150, and 200 MPa)-cycle (1, 3, 5, 7) combinations on the physicochemical (total soluble solids, titratable acidity, pH, and electrical conductivity), sensory, and metal/mineral composition of sugarcane juice which was previously unexplored. Juice extracted from blanched sugarcane stems (var Co 0238) was microfluidized, and the analysis for different parameters was conducted using standard protocols. The mineral/metal composition was determined using ICP-OES following a wet digestion method. Results showed that TSS decreased from 18.88 °Brix to a range of 10.15–15.7 °Brix with the former (lower value) being due to the release of insoluble matter after microfluidization which was further solubilised at higher processing cycles (as in the latter). The pH did not vary significantly as compared to control and was in the range of 5.2–5.7. However, a decrease in titratable acidity (0.1–0.26%) was found as compared to control (0.26%). The electrical conductivity of microfluidized sugarcane juice varied from 4.45 to 5.12 mS as compared to 4.95 mS for control. Metal/mineral analysis showed rich reserves of magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and calcium in sugarcane juice which degraded after microfluidization perhaps due to filtration effect caused by the micropore in the interaction chamber of the microfluidizer. The sensory score showed acceptability of the juice after microfluidization (overall acceptability ∼7).

Abstract Corn and sugarcane-base bioethanol dominantly contributes to the 25 billion gallons of bioethanol worldwide. Recent researches focused on the potential microbes and biomasses for optimum production. This study is, therefore, aimed to screen the bioethanol generating yeast strains of Biotechnology Culture Collection (BTCC), isolated from chocolate fermentation in several medium containing various carbon sources. A total of 72 yeast strains were grown in the media containing sugarcane juice, sorghum juice, and molasses, which served as carbon sources. Based on 26S rDNA gene analysis, these species were included in 9 genera, encompassing Saccharomyces (63.9%), Hanseniaspora (9.7%), Candida (0.7%), Torulaspora (0.4%), Pichia (0.8%), Issatchenkia (0.1%), Wickerhamomyces (0.3%), Metschnikowia (0.1%), and Rhodotorula (0.1%). Therefore, spectrophotometer UV-Vis was used to analyze cell growth, while the fermentation products (sugars and ethanol) were evaluated using the HPLC, and about 70 strains produced bioethanol. The highest yields were obtained during fermentation, using sugarcane juice, molasses, molasses waste, and sorghum juice, at concentrations of 43, 50, and 7 g/L, respectively. Furthermore, the Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain were the most significant producers, as the genus was able to generate various concentrations from several carbon sources. However, the only genus without the ability to yield any related products during fermentation was Pichia (0.8%). Based on these results, it is necessary to further develop the yeast strains from chocolate fermentation, due to the potential for bioethanol production from biomasses.

Abstract In current days Fuzzy logic plays auspicious role to provide so many choices for many applications which are system control. Fuzzy logic having no. of practical methodologies in soft computing. Sugar making industries are one of the applications using fuzzy logic controller. sugarcane juice extraction is an industry which is highly seasonable. If the supply of sugar cane is irregular then that reduces the efficiency of extractor from cane to mass producing sugar. So, it is necessary to improve the efficiency of extractor, which gives juice from cane billets. For that we must keep up the Donnelly height (or) level of cane is closed to 90cm. Where a methodology introduced to improve the three inputs controller with fuzzy is used to keep up the cane volume (or) level of Donnelly channel. For that cane level must and should always at 90cm. To limited that level (or) height of cane in chute (or) channel was developed by using of tool box in fuzzy logic designer, MATLAB software.

This work presents, for the first time, a new sequential injection analysis (SIA) method to simultaneously analyze degree Brix, orthophosphate and pH in raw cane juice. These key parameters relate to price of harvested sugarcane and quality of cane juice for sugar production. The SIA system employed two detectors: the first detector is a diode-array spectrophotometer, equipped with a regular flow cell, for measurements of degree Brix and orthophosphate. Quantitative of degree Brix (°Bx; ca. % (w/w) sucrose) was based on manipulation of the schlieren effect at the interface between plugs of sample and water. Orthophosphate analysis was carried out based on the molybdenum blue method with significant reduction in consumption of the reagents. Compensation of the schlieren effect from sucrose for determination of orthophosphate was achieved by using a dual-wavelength spectrometric detection. Second detector is a pH-sensing device, called ion-selective field-effect transistors (ISFET). The ISFET is based on the current through the ISFET arising according to the H+ concentration in solution. Our developed SIA system provides linear calibration graphs fitting for purpose in analysis of sugarcane juice (pH: 0–14, °Bx: 1.0–7.0 and P2O5: 20–200 mg L−1). Simultaneous analysis of sugarcane juice for pH, °Bx and P2O5 is carried out within 5 min (12 sample per h). Precision of SIA system is acceptable (RSD < 3%). Our SIA system gave quantitative results insignificantly different, as compared with conventional methods for analysis of pH, °Bx and P2O5 in sugarcane juice.
