Abstract With the aim to find endophytic actinomycetes that synthesize bioactive compounds over 800 strains were isolated from 53 desert plants of the Gobi-Sumber, Umnugobi, Dundgobi, Dornogobi, Bayankhongor, and Gobi-Altai provinces of Mongolia. The HPLC study of strains with high anti-quorum sensing and antibacterial activities revealed that they produced flavonoids and phenolic compounds. Molecular diversity evaluated with 16S rRNA gene sequences of 123 strains showed that they belonged to 12 genera: Streptomyces, Promicromonospora, Micromonospora, Streptosporangium, Kribbella, Pseudonocardia, Nocardia, Micromonospora, Saccharothrix, Friedmanniella, Actinocatenispora, and Geodermatophilus, the latter two genera were registered in Mongolia for the first time. Moreover, the genus Actinocatenispora was isolated from plants for the first time.

Aims: The present investigation is aimed at the identification and quantification of flavonoids in the methanol extract of leaves of Bauhinia acuminata Linn. (Caesalpiniaceae) by a validated HPTLC method and confirmation of the same by RP-HPLC. Methodology: CAMAG HPTLC system with VisionCATS software and HPLC Agilent Infinity 1260 were employed for the study. Pre-coated silica gel 60 F254 plates were used as stationary phase and Toluene : Ethyl acetate : Formic acid (5:4:0.2, v/v/v) was used as mobile phase in HPTLC while in HPLC Thermo hypersil BDS C18 column and Methanol and 0.4% Phosphoric acid (65 : 35) were used as stationary and mobile phase respectively. Results: Among different standards used in HPTLC, only quercetin was found to be present and further quantitatively analyzed. The method shows good correlation coefficient (R2 ≥ 0.99) and linearity in the range of 0.5 to 5.0 µg/band.  The concentration of quercetin in the test extract was found to be 0.514 µg/mg of the extract. The LOD and LOQ values were 0.84 µg/band and 2.59 µg/band respectively. The RP-HPLC study also represented good %  RSD of Retention time (0.025) and Area (0.09) which signifies the high precision and repeatability. The assay result (4.99 %) also indicated good presence of the quercetin in the extract. Conclusion: The methods were rapid, cost effective and may be employed for quality-control and standardization of quercetin in different plant extracts.

This article presents the results of a comparative analysis of the content of individual amino acids in the overground part of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. and Glycyrrhiza echinata L., growing in the Volgograd region. By the HPLC study, 16 amino acids (Ala, Gly, Tyr, Ser, Asp, Glu, Arg, His, Pro) were identified in the plant raw materials, among which 9 are replaceable amino acids and 7 are irreplaceable amino acids (Thr, Val, Met, Ile, Leu, Phen, Lys). At the same time, of the total content, the share of replaceable amino acids in Glycyrrhiza glabra L. is 10,09 %, and irreplaceable ones – 5,84 %. In the overground part of Glycyrrhiza echinata L., these indicators are slightly higher – 11,47 % of replaceable amino acids and 6,80 % of irreplaceable amino acids.

Plants are among the richest sources of bioactive compounds throughout the world for thousands of years and continue to provide new remedies to mankind. Roots of Hemidesmus indicus R. Br. is an important plant drug which is used to cure leprosy, leucoderma, itching, skin disease, asthma, bronchitis, leucorrhoea, dysentery, piles, syphilis, paralysis, urinary disorders and diabetes mellitus. As per Acharya Charaka has mentioned suitable season for collection of Moola i.e. Greeshma and Shishira Rutu. Here an attempt to study to check the potency of root collected as per classical reference. The present study focused on the pharmacognostical, phytochemical investigation as well as HPLC study were performed by taking different solvent extracts of Hemidesmus indicus root. This study highlights the detailed HPLC study on Hemidesmus indicus root by taking different solvent extracts with their increasing polarity which is a referential information for identification parameters and improves our confidence level of acceptability of herbal drugs.

Mirabilis jalapa is a popular decorative plant valued for its beautiful multicolored flowers. Folk medicine in various countries applies Mirabilis jalapa as anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, spasmolytic drug. Chemical composition of different types of Mirabilis jalapa has not yet been adequately studied which is an obstacle for its application in medicine. The qualitative composition and quantitative content of phenolic compounds were studied by the HPLC method. The performed experiment revealed presence of hydroxycinnamic acids, flavonoids, isoflavonoids and coumarins in tested herb. The content of phenolic compounds was the highest in Mirabilis jalapa flowers, counting as much as 2977.41 ± 59.55 µg/mg. Total content of phenolic compounds in Mirabilis jalapa herb was 304.25 ± 6.08 µg/mg, in fruits – 67.92 ± 1.36 µg/mg, and in roots – 12.44 ± 0.25 µg/mg. Quantitatively neochlorogenic acid dominated in flowers, chlorogenic acid in fruits, whereas Mirabilis jalapa herb mostly contained rutin and hyperoside. The obtained results will be useful in the development of quality control methods for Mirabilis jalapa herb and manufacture of drug preparations on its basis.
