Author publication guidelines (APG) are created by scientific journals to instruct authors when submitting manuscripts for publication. These documents include formal elements that articles must comply with for submission (e.g., format of references, document layout, word limit, and structure), as well as ethical aspects related to the scientific research or journal editorial policies. Despite the importance of these documents for research management, their clarity and quality vary among journals, causing frustration for research staff and financial expense for publishers. The objective of this study is to propose generic recommendations for publication guidelines and to classify the informative elements to be included in these documents.

Introduction: Pneumonia, defined as infection of lung parenchyma, is associated with severe complications especially in the very young and old patients. It is the world’s leading cause of childhood mortality. The World Health Organization (WHO) classification and guidelines are commonly used in Sudan in the diagnosis and management of pneumonia patients. This review was the outcome of some researches done in Sudan by the author and his colleagues. Management Systems were evaluated to give complete end to end solutions for serving patients along with their records in hospitals and clinics in Sudan. The objective of the study was: To reflect author experience in management of childhood pneumonia in Sudan and to determine feasible, affordable approach to pneumonia in Sudan. Methodology: Searching through PubMed for the author publication and review of publication by author in Sudan regarding management of pneumonia. Conclusion: Simple tests like chest X-ray, high WBC high-reactive protein, together with high temperature can predict the need for urgent blood culture. Antibiotic treatment for childhood pneumonia weather that recommended by WHO, b-lactam inhibitors or 3rd generation cephalosporin has the same outcome.

Introduction and Aim: The publication performance is an objective indicator for individuals and institutions as well as science policy and healthy implementation of the country. We aimed to reveal the quality of the publications and citations of current urologists in Turkey. Material and Methods: The publication and citation status of one thousand and two hundred urologists between the years 2016-2020 were included in the study. Socio-demographic characteristics of urologists like age, title, type of city, geographical region of the city, and type of hospital they work in and the number of publications, citations, indexed journal publication, and the first author publication status were examined. Institution of Social Insurance database was used for sociodemographic characteristics of urologist; while PubMed and Google Scholar were used for information of publications. Results: The median age of urologists was 44 (30-76) years. The median number of publications, index journal publication, the first author publication, and citations in the relevant years were 1 (0-68), 1 (0-66), 0 (0-24), and 1 (0-1025) for years specified, respectively. The publication status was significantly higher in the groups of the age range between 30 and 40 years, associate professors (OR 44.61 and 35.97, respectively) (p<0.001). Conclusion: Publications produced in the field of urology in our country are still not of sufficient quality. Urologists between the ages of 30-40 years old, associate professors, and working in tertiary care hospitals published more articles and received more citations to these publications.

Homework effectiveness has long been a controversial issue for many educators, schools and parents. Many researchers have tried to prove homework is not just a nuisance we all have to face throughout the years but really "build characters" and "is good for you" like teachers and parents typically say. This bibliometrics review studied 429 documents related to homework in education from Clarivate Web of Science from 1977 to 2020. This study aims to record the volume, growth pattern of homework literature, and identify critical author, publication and topic of this knowledge base. The review found that the homework literature has grown remarkably over the past 43 years, with most-cited authors are from the US, Spain and China. Using co-citation, co-occurrence and bibliographic coupling analysis from VOSviewer program, this research also indicated some significant results and suggestions for future research.

Abstract Background Combining abdominoplasty with liposuction is a common practice for optimal patient aesthetic outcomes. In the past, several practitioners have argued against liposuction due to the potential for vascular insufficiency, especially with central liposuction. Despite these concerns for flap damage with resultant necrosis, the incidence of this complication has not been comprehensively investigated Objective The authors therefore examined the incidence of necrotic complications, including skin and fat necrosis, as well as partial/total flap loss, in patients undergoing abdominoplasty alone (AA) or abdominoplasty with partial or circumferential liposuction (APCL) Methods Literature searches were performed in PubMed/Medline and Embase with no query limits. For the systematic review, data from the studies were extracted into a form including primary author, publication year, study design, number of AA and APCL patients, abdominal zone(s) treated with liposuction, average lipoaspirate volume, follow-up time, necrotic complications, and revision procedures. A meta-analysis was separately performed for 13 studies that included patients undergoing both AA and APCL Results The overall rate of necrotic complications was lower in the APCL group (0.39%) compared to the abdominoplasty alone group (1.01%). The incidence of necrotic complications was low for all patients, with a pooled partial flap loss rate of 0.24% and a pooled skin necrosis rate of 0.23%. The forest plots revealed that patients who underwent APCL do not face a higher risk of skin necrosis or revision compared to those who underwent abdominoplasty alone Conclusion Performing abdominoplasty with partial or circumferential liposuction is a safe combined procedural approach and can confer added benefits of improved patient satisfaction and aesthetic outcomes

Objective: to investigate the accessibility of open access article on anatomical variations described on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) using PubMed database. We wanted to investigate how many journals are sharing articles without pay-wall and how many are sharing articles without author publication charges. Material and methods: a search equation was designed with exclusion criteria limiting the search in PubMed to articles published in English and French. The search was performed by one observer. We had found 2228 articles; among them 709 were accessible as ‘full text’. After applying exclusion criteria and after full text reading only 50 articles remained for the review. Results: the 50 selected articles shared 306 annotated (visual marking, explanation like arrows) and 432 not annotated figures with the public. The 76% of articles were single studies on one specific topic. The main topic was endodontics with 22 articles. 28 journals from all continents participated in the effort of sharing of figures on anatomical variations from CBCT. However, only 2 journals were completely free of charges for authors and readers. Conclusions: we have found only 15 annotated and 3 not annotated figures in 2 articles published in 2 different open access journals (without reader pay-wall and without author publication charges). Sharing the knowledge on anatomical variations from dentomaxillofacial CBCT represents an exception in dental literature.

Libraries and Information Technology departments aim to support the educational and research needs of students, researchers, and faculty members. Close matches between the resources those departments provide and the resources the institution’s community members actually use highlight the value of the departments, demonstrate fiscally responsibility, and show attentiveness to the community’s needs. Traditionally, libraries rely on usage statistics to guide collection development decisions, but usage statistics can only imply value. Identifying a resource by name in a publication demonstrates the value of that resource more clearly. This pilot project examined the full-text of articles published in 2016-2017 by faculty members at a mid-sized, special-focus institution to answer the questions “Do faculty members have university-provided access to the research tools they need to publish?” and “If not, where are they getting them?” Using a custom database, the presenters indexed every publication by author, publication, resources used, availability of the identified resources, and more. This pilot study can be adapted to projects at other institutions, allowing them to gain a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of their own institution’s offerings. In addition, they will be able to identify ways to use that data to negotiate for additional resources, inform strategic partnerships, and facilitate open discussions with the institution’s community.
