Aluminum matrix composites usually contain strengthening particles of refractory compounds (SiC, Al2O3) that do not react with the Al matrix. There is a problem in producing the Al matrix composite with inclusion of metals that can generate intermetallic compounds with aluminum. In this case, a conventional sintering of powder mixtures results in high porosity due to volume growth. That is why some new methods of producing dense Al matrix composites are required. A possibility to create a dense powder Al-based composite containing hard components, such as chromium and silicon, without using the sintering process, is considered. This paper presents study results of structural and mechanical properties of Al-Cr and Al-Cr-Si composites produced by hot compaction of powder mixtures. An analysis of the relationship between mechanical properties and structures of Al-Cr and Al-Cr-Si composites is carried out. Optimal values for thermomechanical processing modes that ensure sufficient strength and plasticity are determined. It is shown that strong bonding of the aluminum particles occurs under hot deformation, and an aluminum matrix is formed that provides acceptable composite bending strength as a result. The presence of chromium and silicon hard inclusions is not a significant obstacle for aluminum plastic flow. Al-Cr and Al-Cr-Si composites produced by hot deformation of the powder mixtures can be used as cathode material for the deposition of wear-resistant nitride coatings on metalworking tools.

Abstract Background T cell immunoglobulin-3(Tim-3) is an immune checkpoint molecule; Tim-3 antibody is suitable for treating malignant renal tumours. However, Tim-3 antibody drugs are expensive, which limits their application. To overcome the disadvantages of expensive immunotherapeutic drugs, Lactococcus lactis was used as the host bacteria to express Tim-3 single-chain antibody in the intestine, and its promotion of the mouse immune system and inhibitory effects on the transplanted tumour of kidney cancer in mice were tested. Methods Molecular cloning technology was used to construct plasmids pLAN-CTB-Tim3scFv and pLAN-Tim3scFv, which were transformed into Lactococcus lactis. The expression of the transformed bacteria was analysed using western blotting, and the immune activity of secreted proteins of the transformed bacteria was detected using ELISA in vitro. A subcutaneous transplanted tumour model of renal adenocarcinoma was constructed in RAG mice, and the promoting effect of transforming bacteria on the activation of mouse spleen lymphocytes, and its inhibitory effect on transplanted tumours in mice was analysed. Results (1) Transformed Lactococcus lactis NZ -CTB-Tim3scFv and NZ -Tim3scFv, which secrete CTB-Tim3scFv and Tim3scFv single-chain antibodies, were successfully constructed. (2) CTB-Tim3scFv secreted by NZ-CTB-Tim3scFv transformed bacteria showed immunological activity. (3) Compared with the NZ-Tim3scFv and NZ-Vector groups, the characteristics of the subgroups of splenic lymphocytes in the NZ-CTB-Tim3scFv group had a higher proportion of CD3+CD4+, CD3+CD8a+, and CD3+CD69+ cells. Ki67 and CD31 expression in the NZ-CTB-Tim3scFv group was significantly reduced. The tumour volume of the NZ-CTB-Tim3scFv group increased the least, and was statistically different from that of the other two groups. Conclusions The Tim-3 single-chain antibody gene was successfully constructed and transformed in Lactococcus lactis. After feeding mice NZ-CTB-Tim3scFv transforming Lactobacillus, the CTB-Tim3scFv secreted by the transforming Lactobacillus promoted the proliferation and activation of spleen lymphocytes and inhibited volume growth, cell proliferation, and angiogenesis of the tumour in mice. In summary, apply transgenic lactobacillus secreting CTB-Tim-3scFv, to perform its role in anti-tumor immunotherapy through oral approach, is low cost and convenient. It is expected to become a new way of immunotherapy for renal cell carcinoma.

In this work, we consider the dynamics of a model for tumor volume growth under a drug periodic treatment targeting the process of angiogenesis within the vascularized cancer tissue. We give sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of a global attractor consisting of a periodic solution. This conditions happen to be satisfied by values of the parameters tested for realistic experimental data. Numerical simulations are provided illustrating our findings.

Traffic congestion is one of the prevalent phenomena in Indonesia, especially in big cities. There are a variety of factors causing congestion in the city, including the expansion of existing infrastructure, the large number of residents in the area, and the disparity between the growth of motor vehicles and highways. By careful transport planning, this can be fixed. The estimation of traffic volume is one strategy to see how much road growth is to offset vehicle volume growth to prevent congestion. This study tries to estimate the traffic volume of National Road III Jember Banyuwangi KM 252 motorized 2-wheeled vehicles passing by. The data used were obtained from 24 hours observation for 7 days. Using the Neuro-Fuzzy method which applies 1 day out of 7 days as testing data, and obtaining the average error is 13.2747%. This average error shows that the error rate that occurs is 5% of all errors. Neuro-Fuzzy can forecast the traffic volume of 2-wheeled motorized vehicles reasonably well.

AbstractIt remains difficult to predict when which patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) will require surgery. The aim was to study the accuracy of geometric and biomechanical analysis of small AAAs to predict reaching the threshold for surgery, diameter growth rate and rupture or symptomatic aneurysm. 189 patients with AAAs of diameters 40–50 mm were included, 161 had undergone two CTAs. Geometric and biomechanical variables were used in prediction modelling. Classifications were evaluated with area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) and regressions with correlation between observed and predicted growth rates. Compared with the baseline clinical diameter, geometric-biomechanical analysis improved prediction of reaching surgical threshold within four years (AUC 0.80 vs 0.85, p = 0.031) and prediction of diameter growth rate (r = 0.17 vs r = 0.38, p = 0.0031), mainly due to the addition of semiautomatic diameter measurements. There was a trend towards increased precision of volume growth rate prediction (r = 0.37 vs r = 0.45, p = 0.081). Lumen diameter and biomechanical indices were the only variables that could predict future rupture or symptomatic AAA (AUCs 0.65–0.67). Enhanced precision of diameter measurements improves the prediction of reaching the surgical threshold and diameter growth rate, while lumen diameter and biomechanical analysis predicts rupture or symptomatic AAA.
