Abstract Background To test the psychometric properties of a traditional Chinese version of the Resilience Scale for Children (RS-10) and examine its factorial structure via a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Methods One hundred and eighty-six Hong Kong Chinese children with cancer were recruited in the paediatric oncology units of two public acute-care hospitals in Hong Kong to participate in this cross-sectional study. The psychometric properties of the traditional Chinese version of the RS-10 were assessed, namely its content equivalence, convergent and discriminant validity, construct validity, internal consistency and test–retest reliability. Results The newly translated traditional Chinese version of the RS-10 demonstrated adequate internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = .83, McDonald’s Ω = .80), excellent test–retest reliability (.89), good content equivalence (CVI = 96%) and appropriate convergent (r =  − .52, P = .01) and discriminant validity (r = .61, P = .01). The CFA results demonstrated that there was a good fit between the factor structure of the Chinese version of the RS-10 and the observed data (χ2/df = 2.34, TLI = .951, RMSEA = .053, CFI = .962, GFI = .948, SRMR = .052), thereby confirming the construct validity of this instrument. Conclusions The traditional Chinese version of the RS-10 was found to be a reliable and valid tool for assessing the resilience of Hong Kong Chinese children with cancer. The newly developed traditional Chinese version of the RS-10 is an appropriate clinical research tool for evaluating the effectiveness of nursing interventions in enhancing the resilience of and promoting mental well-being in children with cancer. Trial registration NCT03544190.

This study explores the theoretical proposal that developmental dyslexia involves a failure to develop perceptual expertise with words despite adequate education. Among a group of Hong Kong Chinese children diagnosed with developmental dyslexia, we investigated the relationship between Chinese word reading and perceptual expertise with Chinese characters. In a perceptual fluency task, the time of visual exposure to Chinese characters was manipulated and limited such that the speed of discrimination of a short sequence of Chinese characters at an accuracy level of 80% was estimated. Pair-wise correlations showed that perceptual fluency for characters predicted speeded and non-speeded word reading performance. Exploratory hierarchical regressions showed that perceptual fluency for characters accounted for 5.3% and 9.6% variance in speeded and non-speeded reading respectively, in addition to age, non-verbal IQ, phonological awareness, morphological awareness, rapid automatized naming (RAN) and perceptual fluency for digits. The findings suggest that perceptual expertise with words plays an important role in Chinese reading performance in developmental dyslexia, and that perceptual training is a potential remediation direction.

Berdasarkan estimasi WHO, obesitas menjadi masalah kesehatan di dunia. Dilakukan pemeriksaan antropometrik dan pemeriksaan nilai Clothing Time (TT), Prothrombine Time (PT) dan Activated Partial Thromboplastine Time(aPTT). Obesitas dinyatakan berdasarkan Kategori IMT yang ditentukan berdasarkan ambang batas Z-Score sedangkan kategorilingkar pinggang ditentukan berdasarkan Waist Circumfrence for Hong Kong Chinese Children (2008). Keywords : obesitas, remaja CT,PT,aPTT
