This article employs the prism of gift-exchange to analyse the marginalised status of singles within social relations. We trace an emerging critique voiced by single women, who challenge the unilateral etiquette of gifting marital and family-making celebrations. While dominant social norms normalise gift-giving at weddings and subsequent family-related occasions, there are no commensurable opportunities for singles to receive back their accumulative investments in the life events of others. Drawing on various online sources, we explore the discursive articulations through which single women highlight the unfairness that underpins their position as constant givers. We show how single women manage the social risks that such public complaints entail, and how they claim to be worthy receivers themselves. This article offers singlehood as a valuable case study for engaging with broader questions concerning reciprocity – specifically, what happens when reciprocal gifting is not an established norm within ostensibly reciprocal social relations.

Background: The results of monitoring the physical health of 16–17-year-old girls who became first-year students of Khmelnytskyi Humanitarian-Pedagogical Academy during 2016–2019 have been analysed in the article. Material and Methods: 1670 female students participated in the research. In the course of the research, the number of people belonging to the main, preparatory and special medical group was determined, as well as those who were exempted from attending physical education classes. Results: The results of the research have found that there is a tendency for an increase in the number of female students exempted from attending physical education classes from 3.17% to 6.60%, and the increase in the number of female students assigned for health reasons to special medical groups at physical education classes from 6.57% to 11.93%. Conclusions: The analysis of changes of anthropometric indicators of girls showed that there is a growing number of overweight female students from 9.2% to 11.7%, and from 1.2% to 1.7% of those who have 1–2 degree of obesity. The analysis of functional indicators of physical condition showed that 21.8% of female students had deviations in age-related heart rate, and the indicator of vital capacity of lungs in 34.8% of female students was lower than the established norm. An analysis of the Robinson index showed that the level of energy potential of female students tends to deteriorate.

Building upon facial recognition and other systems of identification, the next generation of biometric technology includes behavior recognition, training AI to analyze and interpret how bodies move in public spaces. Paired with already ubiquitous CCTV cameras, these software systems detect a range of motions—trips, falls, fighting, irregular gait—anything that deviates from the established norm. In this paper, I argue that by criminalizing certain movements, behavior recognition technologies effectively codify a technique, a vocabulary of acceptable and allowable movements, enacting a form of social choreography. Within this choreography, what movements are available to whom? What constitutes normal, and who is afforded or denied such a claim? In the fall of 2019, I undertook a corporeal engagement with these questions through the development of a short video project entitled One True False Move, seeking to disrupt the codes of normalcy and destabilize the surveillant technology’s position as social choreographer. In theorizing a conceptual framework and reflecting upon creative practice, I explore the body as a site of resistance, endowed with the resilient capacity to move in or out of step with systematic codes and counter attempts to be rendered legible.

Aim: To examine whether two existing cognitive screeners might be adapted for telephone administration by omission of item content requiring visual cues or assessment. Materials & methods: Data from a test accuracy study of Mini-Addenbrooke’s Cognitive Examination (MACE) and Free-Cog were used to derive scores for ‘Tele-MACE’ and ‘Tele-Free-Cog’. Results: As in the index study, both Tele-MACE and Tele-Free-Cog proved sensitive for dementia diagnosis. Tele-MACE had a better balance of sensitivity and specificity than observed with MACE. Tele-MACE was sensitive for mild cognitive impairment diagnosis, whereas Tele-Free-Cog was more specific for mild cognitive impairment. Conclusion: Existing cognitive screeners may be adapted for telephone administration. Such developments may prove necessary in the COVID-19 era as remote rather than face-to-face cognitive assessment increasingly becomes the established norm.

The article examines the problems of the component s of the concept of threats to religious security, for example, which are transformed into concepts. Religion as a relatively independent socio-cultural reality needs protection from internal and external threats. Religious security is a system of conditions that ensures the preservation of the traditional religious system within the established norm that has historically developed. The problem of religious security was identified when the cases of anti-state, anti-social activities of religious associations became more frequent. Methodology: The following research methods were used to address the issues set in the article: general scientific methods – descriptive, systemic, structural-functional, comparative, institutional-comparative; general logical methods – empirical, statistical, prognostic modeling and analysis; special methods of political science. The preference was given to the method of political-system analysis, by which the common and distinctive characteristics of the basic components of soft power strategies were identified, reflecting existing political, public, information and other challenges for international relations and global development. Results. As societies develop from agrarian to industrial to knowledge-based, growing existential security tends to reduce the importance of religion in people's lives and people become less obedient to traditional religious leaders and institutions. Research of the problem by scientists. Religion is characterized by the historical predominance of Catholic Christianity (40 % of the world's Catholics in the region). Conclusions. Although some religious conservatives warn that the retreat from faith will lead to a collapse of social cohesion and public morality, the evidence doesn't support this claim. Surprising as it may seem, countries that are less religious actually tend to be less corrupt and have lower murder rates than religious ones.

12 %. To create a uniform and continuous flow of seeds, to ensure stable seeding of the established norm, to reduce crushing – all these are the main tasks of the seeding machine. Seeding machines must have a reliable and convenient adjustment of the seeding rate for various crops, be universal and easy to use. The work, devoted to improving the quality indicators of grain crops by advancing the technological process of the coil seeding machine with a continuous coating of a valve made of rubber with spikes, is relevant and has an important economic and business significance for the Russian agroindustrial complex. The article presents the results of laboratory studies of the coil seeding device with a continuous coating of a valve made of rubber with spikes, the results of field studies of an experimental seed drill with such seeding devices, and the dependence of the uneven distribution of seeds along the length of the row on the speed of the device unit is obtained. The use of an experimental seeder with coil seeding devices with the continuous coating of valves of rubber with spikes showed the feasibility of using a seeder with such experimental seeding devices for sowing grain seeds in the range of 7.8...9.7 km/h. The increase in the yield of spring wheat of the "Trizo" variety, when sown with the experimental seeder, counted 12 %.

As much as we do not like to admit it, the world we live in is nothing like the world of 50 years ago. A visitor from 1940 would not recognize the place he had come from, in styles of dress, doing things, and architecture too. People have had to adapt their lives as technology advanced, and in the last 50 years, more technological advancements happened than in 300 years before that. In our world where everything is perpetually changing, each person must make dynamic changes to be an effective agent for a better future. With all the changes that have occurred over the years of education, the one thing that has almost never changed is the need for all people to be critical thinking people and aware of everything else around them. Human beings are probably the only creatures in the world that are capable of critical thinking, and therefore are the sole agents of future changes. The likely candidates who are ready to take over this role of critical thinking is the group of undergraduate students who are soon to enter the world's economy. This paper will closely scrutinize the role of the critical thinker and elaborate on the methods to measure which can be suitable for all students to learn from so that they in turn can become critical thinkers. This will help affect the ever more necessary future changes for the continual betterment of the world and elucidate the critical thinking measurement methods that will be suitable to use with undergraduate students of all places and levels making it able to reveal, grade, and assess this skillset, which is ultimately important, but difficult to quantify. In this study, the author introduces the addition of a reversed system, the flipped classroom, in conjunction with the established norm of teaching methods.

Preterm neonates require parenteral nutrition (PN) in addition to intravenous drug therapy. Due to limited venous access, drugs are often co-administered with PN via the same lumen. If incompatible, precipitation and emulsion destabilization may occur with the consequent risk of embolism and hyper-immune reactions. Information on intravenous compatibility is scarce. Our aim was to analyse the compatibility of Numeta G13E with paracetamol, vancomycin and fentanyl because of the frequency of their use. A panel of methods was chosen to assess precipitation (sub-visual particle counting, turbidity measurement, Tyndall beam effect and pH measurement) and emulsion destabilization (mean droplet diameter measurement and sub-visual counting of oil droplets, followed by estimation of PFAT5 (percentage of fat residing in globules larger than 5 µm) and pH measurement). Samples in clinically relevant mixing ratios were tested immediately and after 4 h. All samples of drugs mixed with Numeta G13E were compared to unmixed controls. None of the tested drugs precipitated in contact with Numeta G13E, and we did not see any sign of emulsion destabilization when clinically relevant mixing ratios were applied. These results are reassuring. However, when contact time exceeds the established norm, caution in the form of filter utilisation and close inspection is advised.

The article highlights the process of formation of the genre of street («batiarskiy») song as an important element of the urban musical subculture in the context of fundamental historical changes in the life of the multicultural community of Galicia region at the end of the 19th – the first third of the 20th century. The exceptional importance of the creativity of Sich Riflemen and a whole galaxy of artists, who carried national and regional patriotic symbolism, ,performed the functions of a peculiar artistic opposition to alien influences of the occupation regime in forming of the traditions of the popular song of Galicia is considered in a separate perspective. It is revealed that the repertoire tradition of the urban song subculture of Galicia, as well as the creativity of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen’s artists and its folklorized forms, being the established norm of widespread popular use for the western Ukrainian territories, is ,,gradually projected on further processes of genre formation and certainly has a significant influence on the trends of popular development.Key words: variety song, patriotic song, urban song subculture, the songs of Sich Riflemen, regional song ,tradition.

Purpose Customer value creation is dependent on a firm’s capacity to fulfil its brand promises and value propositions. The purpose of this paper is to explore frontline employees’ (FLEs’) motivation to align with value propositions. Design/methodology/approach The paper explores FLEs’ motivation to align with a firm’s value propositions as operationalised brand promises. A longitudinal, three-phase case study was conducted on a business-to-business company in the building and technical trade sector. Findings This study reveals factors that foster and weaken employees’ motivation to align with a firm’s brand promises and value propositions. The findings show that co-activity and authentic, practice-driven promises and value propositions foster FLEs’ motivation to uphold brand promises and value propositions, whereas an objectifying stance and power struggle weaken their motivation. Practical implications The study indicates that a bottom-up approach to strategising is needed and that FLE is to be engaged in traditional managerial domains, such as in developing value propositions. By creating space and agency for FLE in the strategising process, their motivation to align with value propositions is fostered. Four motivational modes are suggested to support bottom-up strategising. Originality/value The paper is unique in its focus on FLEs’ motivation. Developing value propositions traditionally falls within the domain of management strategising, while employees are ascribed the role of enactment. Contrary to the established norm, this paper highlights employees’ active role in strategising and developing value propositions.
