Versatile video coding (VVC) achieves enormous improvement over the advanced high efficiency video coding (HEVC) standard due to the adoption of the quadtree with nested multi-type tree (QTMT) partition structure and other coding tools. However, the computational complexity increases dramatically as well. To tackle this problem, we propose a decision tree accelerated coding tree units (CTU) partition algorithm for intra prediction in VVC. Firstly, specially designated image features are extracted to characterize the coding unit (CU) complexity. Then, the trained decision tree is employed to predict the partition results. Finally, based on our newly designed intra prediction framework, the partition process is early terminated or redundant partition modes are screened out. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm could achieve around 52% encoding time reduction for various test video sequences on average with only 1.75% Bjontegaard delta bit rate increase compared with the reference test model VTM9.0 of VVC.

The basic concept in the design of buildings with zero energy consumption is, in addition to high-quality thermal properties of the building envelope, also a correct and efficient system of heating and hot water preparation in residential buildings. One of the basic concepts when designing heating systems is a zone heating system. It is a system that brings effective regulation according to heating zones. In practice, the question sometimes arises as to whether zone regulation of individual rooms in small family houses is necessary. That is whether in such buildings, zone heating is not an unnecessary investment cost. In this paper, we analyze the effect of zone heating in two types of heat transfer systems on the internal operating temperature in the individual analyzed zones, which are interconnected by an internal partition structure. It is a verification that even in smaller spaces, zone heating has a significant potential for energy savings.

With the development of economy and society, network analysis is widely used in more and more fields. Signed network has a good effect in the process of representation and display. As an important part of network analysis, fuzzy community detection plays an increasingly important role in analyzing and visualizing the real world. Fuzzy community detection helps to detect nodes that belong to some communities but are still closely related to other communities. These nodes are helpful for mining information from the network more realistically. However, there is little research in this field. This paper proposes a fuzzy community detection algorithm based on pointer and adjacency list. The model adopts a new ICALF network data structure, which can achieve the effect of storing community partition structure and membership value between community and node at the same time, with low time complexity and storage space. Experiments on real networks verify the correctness of the method, and prove that the method is suitable for large-scale network applications.

There is a well-established tradition within the statistics literature that explores different techniques for reducing the dimensionality of large feature spaces. The problem is central to machine learning and it has been largely explored under the unsupervised learning paradigm. We introduce a supervised clustering methodology that capitalizes on a Metropolis Hastings algorithm to optimize the partition structure of a large categorical feature space tailored towards minimizing the test error of a learning algorithm. This is a general methodology that can be applied to any supervised learning problem with a large categorical feature space. We show the benefits of the algorithm by applying this methodology to the problem of risk adjustment in competitive health insurance markets. We use a large claims data set that records ICD-10 codes, a large categorical feature space. We aim at improving risk adjustment by clustering diagnostic codes into risk groups suitable for health expenditure prediction. We test the performance of our methodology against common alternatives using panel data from a representative sample of twenty three million citizens in Colombian Healthcare System. Our results outperform common alternatives and suggest that it has potential to improve risk adjustment.

With the development of multimedia equipment and the increasing demand for high-quality video applications, the traditional video coding standard, H.265/High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), can no longer effectively satisfy the requirements. To promote the development of high-quality video, a new generation video coding standard, H.266/Versatile Video Coding (H.266/VVC), is established, and it is the inheritance and development of H.265/HEVC. It not only retains many mature technologies and methods in HEVC but also adds some new coding tools, such as wide-angle prediction and Multitype Tree (MTT) partition structure. The MTT partition structure brings a more flexible partition method of Coding Unit (CU), but the accompanying increase in computational complexity is unacceptable. In order to ensure an effective balance between coding efficiency and coding quality, a fast CU partition algorithm based on texture is proposed in this paper. First, the texture complexity of the neighboring CU is used as a threshold for evaluating the complexity of the current CU, so as to skip the unpromising depth. Then, the gradient features are extracted to determine whether the Quad-Tree (QT) partition is executed. Finally, the improved Canny operator is used to extract edge features, and the partition mode in the horizontal or vertical direction is excluded. The algorithm was embedded in VTM7.0, and the video sequences with different resolutions were tested under general experimental configuration. Simulation experiment results show that the average time saving of this method reached 50.56% compared with the anchor algorithm. At the same time, the average BDBR is increased by 1.31%.

Based on the current situation of the temporary pipelines with disorderly layout and low integration, the temporary roads with time consuming, material consuming and environmentally unfriendly in, construction site, a new type of reusable assembly power pipe trench and temporary road system technology is proposed in this paper. The research background and research ideas of the technology are described; the partition, structure and connection of the system are designed; the stress of the system is checked by finite element method, and the main stress structure is optimized. The system has the advantage of high degree of integration, convenient transportation and installation, and high reusability, and it is in line with the modern construction concept of carbon emission reduction, green construction and civilized construction.

To eliminate the shortcomings of the known hydraulic autoregulators of the water level, together with Ya. V. Bochkarev, we developed a design of a hydraulic autoregulator of the level with flexible working bodies, combined with an automatic gate for washing sediments, which provides the discharge of floating bodies and bottom sediments in front of the partition structure. To ensure stable vibration-free operation of this hydro-automatic level controller, the task was set to justify the shape and size of the elements of its main gate and the gate-automatic washing of deposits and determine the throughput of the automatic gate washing of deposits. As a result of solving this problem, for the stable vibration-free operation of the hydro-automatic level controller, a non-vacuum shape of the profile of the spillway part of its main gate was adopted, the shapes and sizes of other gate elements were justified, and a theoretical formula for the throughput of the automatic gate for washing sediments was obtained, taking into account the lateral outflows.

In acoustic practice, established methods of measuring the acoustic properties of partition structures are used. Recommended procedures and means can be found in technical standards, but practice suggests that measurement results may also depend on measurement conditions. These procedures leave the choice of noise type, frequency interval examined, and excitation interval on the measurer. The aim of this research is to determine which parameter has a significant effect on the results, and to quantify the extent of this effect. We examined the type of noise, the frequency band of the sound passing through the partition structure and the excitation interval of the diffusion field in the rooms (hereinafter referred to as “excitation interval”). During the research, we conducted a number of repeated, statistically significant measurements, which we first evaluated by classical methods used in acoustic practice. We subjected the obtained results to a thorough mathematical analysis. Evaluation of the results shows that some measurement conditions significantly affect the resulting values, especially in the low-frequency spectrum. One of the most important elements which has an effect on the results is the type of excitation noise, which, when assessed in the source room, excites the diffuse sound field, and its transmission through the considered partition structure is measured. The significance of the investigated frequency interval was also demonstrated.
