Muara Danau Village Forest Management Institution (LPHD) is a forum on forest management activities that aim to improve community welfare. At present, the condition of the farming business is not effective, so it requires some rules as a measure of success. This study aims to analyze the institution of the Muara Danau Village Forest Management Institution (LPHD) in the implementation of Village Forest Management. The research was conducted in Muara Danau Village, Semende Darat Laut Subdistrict, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra Province, from March to April 2020. Data were analyzed by using the SSBP approach. The results of the study showed the situation of farmers utilizing forest resources in the form of water sources and non-timber forest products. Smallholders manage the forest based on institutional structure stated in the AD/ART, and administrative sanctions. In terms of planting patterns in the arable land, the structure controls farmer behavior by using an agroforestry system. This makes Muara Danau Village Forest Management Institution (LPHD) obtain a good performance in the aspect of institutional management which is measured by the involvement of members and institutional administrators in group activities/training (91%) and the types of binding group rules in the form of written rules (AD/ART) as well as unwritten rules (84%) in managing areas measured based on the type of forest resource conservation activity (95%). However, managing businesses have not obtained optimal results, as measured by the absence of institutions that handle the marketing of forest products for groups (cooperatives). Based on the results of the research, the institution of Muara Danau Village Forest Management Institution (LPHD) is categorized as good.

Farmers in the developed world tend to over-apply fertilizer, and we explore a model for decision-making under uncertainty in yields. This article proposes an agro-economic model for farmer decision-making based on subjective expected yield and crop response to fertilization. The model explores subjective yield probability distributions that are both better suited to subjective crop yields than the previously proposed probability distribution and is easier to extract from farmers. The model allows the analysis of the impact of changes in fertilizer price and variance of expected yields. The model result is consistent with observed farmer behavior based on the rule of “fertilizing for the good years” that appears, according to our model, as rational and consistent with expected profit maximization under yield uncertainty since the cost of over-application is lower than that of the opportunity cost of under-application. The goal of increasing the efficiency of nitrogen use requires both technical innovation and an expansion of the knowledge on the socioeconomic factors underlying excessive crop fertilization that must be improved both to meet future food demands and to prevent environmental degradation and climate change.

This paper investigates how perceived costs and benefits of Salmonella control among Danish pig farmers affect the farmers' choice of action toward reducing the prevalence of Salmonella in their herds. Based on data from an online questionnaire involving 163 Danish pig farmers, we find a considerable uncertainty among pig farmers about the perceived effects of the Salmonella reducing actions. The results indicate large variations in the perceived costs of implementing different types of Salmonella reducing actions (management-, hygiene- and feed-related). For some cases, farmers associate net benefits and positive productivity effects with implementation of the actions while studies by the industry indicate net costs to the farmers. Differences among farmers support the idea of an outcome-based Salmonella penalty scheme but the large uncertainties about costs and effects of actions toward Salmonella control might hamper the effectiveness of such a penalty scheme as a regulatory instrument to affect farmer behavior.

The role of two-way development communication (convergence) is important so that coconut farmers can obtain information and determine the right farming technology towards farming management which is increasingly advanced in increasing the capacity of coconut farmers. Convergence to increase the capacity of farmers can be achieved well if there is an understanding between farmers in the process. For this reason, it is necessary to have good communication in farming activities between fellow farming actors. This study aims to: (1) To describe the communication elements of coconut farmers in Indragiri Hilir Regency, (2) to describe the communication behavior of coconut farmers in Indragiri Hilir Regency, (3) to analyze the factors which influence the communication behavior of coconut farmers in Indragiri Hilir Regency. . The method used in this research is a survey method. The population of this study consists of people who work as independent farmers, being members of farmer group, and having participated in extension activities and being included as inhabitants in Keritang and Reteh Districts, Indragiri Hilir Regency. The sampling in this study is carried out by purposive sampling with a total sample of 140 farmers. The results of the study illustrate that all variables influence coconut communication behavior in Indragiri Hilir Regency. But the differences are the direction of the relationship and the level of significance. The factor that positively and significantly influences farmer behavior in Indragiri Hilir Regency is the variable of communication media.

The research was conducted in Mojowarno District, Ngoro District and Peterongan District, Jombang Regency, from March to April 2020, in the rice field area. The aim of this research is to calculate the amount of yield loss and the value of the loss, to analyze the factors that influence the loss of yields, the efforts and strategic actions of farmers and the government to reduce yield losses. The missing results in this study include: harvesting, heaping, threshing, and drying activities. The research method used is descriptive quantitative method with the respondent determination technique using quota sampling of 75 people who are farmers in three sub-districts of Jombang Regency. The analysis technique used is the method of calculating the amount of loss and loss value (Riska, 2016), multiple linear regression, classical and descriptive assumption tests. The results of the study showed that the yield loss per hectare was 12.7% and the loss value was Rp.5,945,386.2, - Through the multiple linear regression method, it was found that there was a significant influence on land area, harvest age, farmer behavior, varieties, tools and the method of harvesting, thresher tools and the season for the loss of crop yields of 70.9% and the remaining 20.1% are other factors not examined. Strategic efforts that can be made for farmers are to use wholesale harvesting power, harvest on time, reduce threshing of grain at home, reduce the use of easy-to-fall rice varieties and reduce collection before threshing. For the government, this can be done by increasing the capacity and skills of farmers (capacity building), utilizing appropriate technology according to location, forming and empowering farmer groups.
