Current small satellite platforms such as CubeSats require robust and versatile communication subsystems that allow the reconfiguration of the critical operating parameters such as carrier frequency, transmission power, bandwidth, or filter roll-off factor. A reconfigurable Analog Back-End for the space segment of a satellite communication subsystem is presented in this work. This prototype is implemented on a 9.5 cm2 6-layer PCB, and it operates from 0.070 to 6 GHz and complies with CubeSat and IPC-2221 standards. The processing, control, and synchronizing stages are carried out on a Software-Defined Radio approach executed on a baseband processor. Results showed that the signal power at the output of the proposed Analog Back-End is suitable for feeding the following antenna subsystem. Furthermore, the emitted radiation levels by the transmission lines do not generate electromagnetic interference.

Galectins are cited in the literature as multifunctional molecules that participate in several biological processes such as adhesion, proliferation and cell cycle, apoptosis, RNA processing, control of the inflammatory processes, and physiological mechanisms of reproduction. Galectin-1 has been cited as a mediator involved in preventing early embryonic death in mammals. Exogenous GAL-1 (eGAL-1) can be found, present in Tolerana®. The goal of this study was to evaluate whether eGAL-1 can improve the pregnancy rate after a complementary AI procedure. The pregnancy rate was analyzed by determining the pregnancy status by ultrasound, 25 to 35 days after Timed Artificial Insemination (TAI) of dams (n=3,469 beef cows). The effectiveness of GAL-1 was evaluated by comparing the pregnancy rate of two groups (Treatment and Control Groups) in 107 contemporaries’ groups (YG) established by the statistical model formed. Based on this, the single dose of eGAL-1 and correct administration can increase the probability of obtaining the pregnancy rate in beef cattle up to 8.68% (p < 0.0001). The recommendation to use a dose of eGAL1 during a TAI procedure was reasonable in beef cattle routine. In average, the whole procedure, using eGAL-1, spent 10 ± 5 seconds more time than the conventional procedure.

The new normal is an attempt to normalize everything new. A number of new things during the Covid-19 pandemic are related to the use of digital technology to sustain community activities during lockdowns in a number of countries. Information technology that has been used by the public to obtain and manage information is a major need in the face of this new normal. Previously people have been familiar with the pattern of work from home (work from home) that requires internet at high speed. The purpose of this research is first to find out the benefits and impacts of digitalization in the Indonesian logistics business sector and secondly to know the constraints of the use of digitalization of Indonesian logistics business. Methods of reasoning are thought processes derived from empirical observations that produce a number of concepts and understandings. The conclusions obtained in this study showed that the impact of technology helped logistics industry players to manage inventory, order processing, control supplier status. The obstacle faced is the problem of the possibility of goods experiencing damage on the road or worse not reaching the destination, and payments made by customers are not verified.

The paper aims to discuss a case study of sensing analytics and technology in acoustics when applied to reverberation conditions. Reverberation is one of the issues that makes speech in indoor spaces challenging to understand. This problem is particularly critical in large spaces with few absorbing or diffusing surfaces. One of the natural remedies to improve speech intelligibility in such conditions may be achieved through speaking slowly. It is possible to use algorithms that reduce the rate of speech (RoS) in real time. Therefore, the study aims to find recommended values of RoS in the context of STI (speech transmission index) in different acoustic environments. In the experiments, speech intelligibility for six impulse responses recorded in spaces with different STIs is investigated using a sentence test (for the Polish language). Fifteen subjects with normal hearing participated in these tests. The results of the analytical analysis enabled us to propose a curve specifying the maximum RoS values translating into understandable speech under given acoustic conditions. This curve can be used in speech processing control technology as well as compressive reverse acoustic sensing.

Abstract Since most time-dependent models may be represented as linear or non-linear dynamical systems, fuzzy linear matrix equations are quite general in signal processing, control and system theory. A uniform method of finding the classic solution of fuzzy linear matrix equations is presented in this paper. Conditions of solution existence are also studied here. Under the framework, a numerical method to solve fuzzy generalized Lyapunov matrix equations is developed. In order to show the validation and efficiency, some selected examples and numerical tests are presented.

This paper presents a new control strategy for reducing the switching losses produced by the use of high parasitic capacitance solar arrays in the sequential switching shunt regulator. Instead of dividing the solar array into equal sections, the proposed strategy is based on two different sections types, low-capacitance and high-capacitance ones. In order to reduce the switching losses and to maintain the original closed-loop response, a novel parallel power processing control strategy is implemented. With this new technique the low-capacitance sections are the only ones that switch at high frequency to regulate the bus while the high-capacitance sections are only connected or disconnected under high load power changes. In addition, the control closed loop delay associated to the time needed to charge the parasitic capacitance has been modelled and a controller modification is proposed to reduce AC performance degradation.

Can the imaginary brains described in Chapter 1 have only representations of perceived patterns, objects, and events? Can hierarchical structures of neurons also represent feelings, beliefs, emotions, and other higher mental states? Creating feelings requires giving emotional perceptions, memories, plans, beliefs, and intentions. How can this be achieved? How are perceived objects and events using their significance for the fate of the conscious system? Do they meet the various needs of the system? In this chapter we show that to achieve this goal, to feel qualia and to create phenomenal awareness, it is necessary to embody the mind. Mental states, such as thoughts and desires, contain intentional content that can be described by referring to something that we expect or believe. Another category are sensory feelings that do not contain intentional content but instead have different qualitative properties like perceptions, impressions, and sensations. The authors indicate four main domains of cooperation between the body and the brain, so that the mind generated in the system has phenomenal consciousness. These domains are 1) The homeostatic system. The body or housing may contain sensors informing the brain about the internal conditions of the body. The signals from these sensors can complement the information coming from the external senses. 2) The motor system. The housing and body, together with the motor system, allow an individual to manipulate objects in the environment and its own body in the environment. The effects of these manipulations can broaden the experience and allow for their evaluation. 3) Participatory analysis. The body or housing can be used to predict, analyze, and plan activities by making calculations through a physical process. 4) The global states of the organism. Internal power supply parameters, information-processing speed, dynamics of operation, and sensitivity thresholds for internal and external sensors can affect performance, the results of evaluation of sensations, and the shape of neural representations. This assumption makes it possible to explain how the imaginary mind can feel subjective impressions, the qualia that are the basis of phenomenal consciousness. The bodily reactions to the sensory stimuli reaching the brain can give value to individual feelings, and emotions. Feeling hardness or smoothness, assessing the attractiveness of smells, judging the importance of sounds, and evaluating the favor of the environment based on images all go beyond the direct response of the senses. The entire brain is involved in the creation of a conscious mind, along with sensory processing, control of movements, memories, predictions, and all other brain structures. This is an emergent phenomenon that is not reflected in any part of the brain's apparatus. In this chapter, the authors explain to what extent we can be aware of our feelings, how far we can understand the world around us and our place in it, how we can consciously direct our thoughts, and how we can focus attention on something.
