Due to the situation caused by the coronavirus COVID-19, educational institutions were forced to switch to a mode of distance interaction with students. The proposed material presents the range of digital tools successfully used by the teacher during the period of distance learning, as well as proposed for use in the traditional learning mode in the perspective of the use of blended learning technology. Among the tools, attention is paid primarily to educational platforms, portals, electronic notebooks, services for creating interactive exercises, quests, quizzes, and video sessions. Several variants of virtual whiteboards are offered for use, and attention is also drawn to the possibility and feasibility of using MOOC in school. As examples, the methodological techniques implemented in the lessons during the distance in the Zoom communication program are given. The use of digital tools in school education allows you to create, implement and distribute new methods of teaching and working with children, improve educational approaches, and further combine the possibilities of online and offline learning. The article will be relevant for practicing teachers and researchers whose interests lie in the field of digitalization of education.

The introduction of low-profile consoles into shipboard operations room opens new possibilities to design its spatial layout. A modeling study was conducted to examine six layout options by manipulating two design factors: console orientation and supervisor seat assignment. The quality of each option was evaluated algorithmically based on its support to operator interaction. The results revealed the strengths and weaknesses of each design: face-to-face was found to be superior for supporting visual and auditory communication, face-to-back was better at facilitating tactile interaction, whereas back-to-back was preferable for an operations room where extensive interaction involved operators moving to one another’s workstations. Benefits were also predicted for configurations where supervisors were assigned to a side seat, primarily for improving the cost scores of tactile and distance interaction links. Results from this study strongly support the inclusion of faceto-face setup and alternative supervisor seating assignment as options in future shipboard operations room design.

The aim of this study is to determine the fields where the Internet of Things (IoT) technology is used in education and to investigate its effects on these fields. In this scope, the fields where IoT studies are carried out in education, the effects of these studies on education and the technologies used in these studies have been examined. In this study, which used document analysis method; the searches were conducted in the “Web of Science” and “ERIC” databases with the keywords “internet of things” and “education”. It was noted that the studies selected during the searching included an IoT application for education. In this context, 748 studies have been reached until May 2020. Since 617 of these studies did not meet the specified criteria, the remaining 131 studies were analyzed. As a result of the analysis; it has been observed that IoT is used more in ubiquitous learning, engineering education, e-learning, laboratory practices. In addition, IoT in education; It is seen that it has the potential to increase access to information from anywhere, student-content interaction, and distance interaction of students to application environments in educational environments. It is noteworthy that in the applications made, the development in sensors, modules, smart devices and network infrastructure is benefited the most.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic in Russia forced colleges and universities to switch to distance teaching and learning. The instructors had to make an emergency move to the remote methods of teaching using various platforms. In the course of the distance learning period in midst of an on-going pandemic, the instructors acquired valuable experience in on-line lecturing, administering tests, conducting tutorials, examination sessions, office hours, etc. Distance teaching called for new educational technologies that would provide the quality of education comparable to the in-person teaching. Compared to the traditional teaching, the time needed to prepare for classes has increased. However, it turned out that thanks to the technologies developed to facilitate high-quality distance interaction, many of the methodologies developed for distance learning can be quite useful in traditional (in-person) learning as well. Using a course in Linear Algebra and Algebraic Structures taught to the freshmen at Saint Petersburg Electro-technical University as an example, this article demonstrates that it is possible to use some of the communication technologies–based methodologies to enhance in-person learning.

The article analyses the features of the methodology for organising physical culture and health-improving work with students with impaired health in Russian universities. The work experience in this direction of physical culture teachers of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Kostroma State University is presented. The methodology of organising physical culture and health-improving work with students with impaired health in terms of distance education via e-mail is considered; the WhatsApp system popular among young people; Zoom platform; YouTube video hosting. Within the framework of this problem, a digital self-observation diary of students with impaired health has been developed and tested. The tables provide information about students with weakened health of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of KSU, those who started and did not start physical excercises in a distance format and the main reasons for their refusal to practice in a distance format. The author's model of the organisation of distance physical culture and health-improving work with students with health problems is described, including: purpose, objectives, principles, means of physical culture and health-improving work with students with impaired health, as well as features of distance interaction between students and teachers; factors ensuring the implementation of this type of activity and elements of a comprehensive assessment. In the conclusion of the article, conclusions are drawn about the results of the study.

The article discusses the main features of the organization of a distance lesson on the theme "A loop with a parameter in the Pascal programming language". The Zoom program is chosen as a tool for organizing distance interaction with students. The article shows how all the stages of the lesson of discovering new knowledge, acquiring new skills can be implemented in the conditions of distance interaction through Zoom. The main features of Zoom, which are advisable to use when conducting an online class, are considered. There are materials to support the lesson, such as a presentation on the theme "A loop with a parameter in the Pascal programming language", a Google form for conducting a survey, and a form for organizing reflection. Examples of tasks for each stage of the distance lesson are given.

Archaeological research has by now revealed a great deal of variation in the way early complex societies, or chiefdoms, developed. This variation is widely recognized, but our understanding of the forces that produced it remains relatively undeveloped. This paper takes aim at such understanding by exploring variation in the local economies of six early chiefdoms; it considers what implications this variation had for trajectories of chiefdom development, as well as the source of that variation. Economic exchange is a primary form of local interaction in all societies. Because of distance-interaction principles, closer household spacing within local communities facilitated more frequent interaction and thus encouraged productive differentiation, economic interdependence, and the development of well-integrated local economies. Well-integrated local economies, in turn, provided ready opportunities for aspiring leaders to accumulate wealth and fund political economies, and pursuit of these opportunities led to societies with leaders whose power had a direct economic base. Wider household spacing, on the other hand, impeded interaction and the development of well-integrated local economies. In such contexts, aspiring leaders were able to turn to ritual and religion as a base of social power. Even when well-integrated local economies offered opportunities for wealth accumulation and a ready source of funding for political economies, these opportunities were not always taken advantage of. That variation in the shapes of early chiefdoms can be traced back to patterns of household spacing highlights the importance of settlement and interaction in explaining not just chiefdom development, but societal change more generally.

The article studies innovation methods of distance interaction in education. The necessity to pass over to distance learning was caused by global pandemic. On March 11, 2020 the WHO called the outbreak of COVID-19 a pandemic, which drastically changed traditional mode of life, business and education all over the world. The demand for learning became more acute. For millions of people distance communications were the only link with the outer world. The need and necessity in distance access to school, secondary and higher education affected the development of new trends in the field of education. The change-over to distance learning in schools and universities requires application of different methods of involving schoolchildren and students in the process of learning and improving skills of independent thinking. The authors provided a number of recommendations dealing with multimedia technology application in distance learning, which aimed at the development of cognitive, communicative skills and skills of logical, creative and critical thinking and social literacy.
