Background: In this article we share our experience of creating a digital pathology (DP) supraregional germ cell tumour service, including full digitisation of the central laboratory. Methods: DP infrastructure (Philips) was deployed across our hospital network to allow full central digitisation with partial digitisation of two peripheral sites in the supraregional testis germ cell tumour network. We used a survey-based approach to capture the quantitative and qualitative experiences of the multidisciplinary teams involved. Results: The deployment enabled case sharing for the purposes of diagnostic reporting, second opinion, and supraregional review. DP was seen as a positive step forward for the departments involved, and for the wider germ cell tumour network, and was completed without significant issues. Whilst there were challenges, the transition to DP was regarded as worthwhile, and examples of benefits to patients are already recognised. Conclusion: Pathology networks, including highly specialised services, such as in this study, are ideally suited to be digitised. We highlight many of the benefits but also the challenges that must be overcome for such clinical transformation. Overall, from the survey, the change was seen as universally positive for our service and highlights the importance of engagement of the whole team to achieve success.

A feature is a single measurable criterion to an observation of a process. While knowledge discovery techniques successfully contribute to many fields, however, the extensive required data processing could hinder the performance of these techniques. One of the main issues in processing data is the dimensionality of the data. Therefore, focusing on reducing the data dimensionality through eliminating the insignificant attributes could be considered one of the successful steps for raising the applied techniques’ performance. On the other hand, focusing on the applied field, ovarian cancer patients continuously suffer from the extensive analysis requirements for detecting the disease as well as monitoring the treatment progress. Therefore, identifying the most significant required analysis could be a positive step to reduce the emotional and financial suffering. This research aims to reduce the data dimensionality of the ovarian cancer disease and highlight the most significant analysis using the collaboration of clustering techniques and statistical techniques. The research succeeded to identify twelve significant analysis out of forty-four with a total of fourteen significant attributes for ovarian cancer data.

<p>New Zealand has a poor health and safety record with alarming rates of workplace injuries and fatalities. The current health and safety regime fails to promote corporate and director responsibility and leaves New Zealand open to potentially catastrophic harm. This was demonstrated in 2010 with the Pike River disaster which revealed an urgent need for reform. This paper analyses the Health and Safety Reform Bill. The Bill represents the most comprehensive overhaul of New Zealand’s health and safety regime in 22 years. The focus in the Bill is no longer on the status of the employment relationship meaning better protection for workers. This paper argues that corporate and officer responsibility is crucial to turning things around. The Bill drives responsibility through the introduction of a proactive due diligence duty on officers and stronger deterrence mechanisms. Placing obligations on officers means those in the best position to monitor and reduce risks have a legal obligation to do so. The Bill targets those who have the ability to initiate change and requires these people to take a proactive approach to managing health and safety. This paper concludes that the Bill represents a positive step forward in New Zealand’s health and safety regime.</p>

Dance Therapy (DT) is an effective treatment to promote emotional, social, cognitive and physical integration of the individual. Its benefits are of particular interest in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), whose caretakers are burdened with the high cost and rigorous demand of treatment. This paper presents a Dance Therapy program that will attempt to encourage physical, social, and cognitive development amongst students through concepts of mirroring and Teaching Dance for Understanding. This program will require less resources than other types of therapies because children will not have to be supervised individually; routines are consistent and repetitive. Although more quantitative research needs to be conducted, it represents a positive step toward providing children with ASD with an optimal environment.

It was stated that the problem of domestic violence for Ukraine remains relevant. This is evidenced not only by official statistics, but also by the number of people seeking help. A positive step in combating domestic violence is to complement the Criminal Code of Ukraine Art. 126-1. However, the disposition of this article contains some inaccuracies, among them the need to clarify which persons fall under the protection of this article. There is a similar problem in the draft Criminal Code of Ukraine, which the working group is currently working on. The article notes that an understanding of who may be victims of domestic violence as a criminal offense has a great scientific and practical importance. Because it will affect not only the correct criminal law qualification and the imposition of a fair and sufficient punishment, but also the application (or non-application) of restrictive measures against the offender, depending on how the person's actions will be qualified. The author analyzed the concepts of «close relations», «family relations», «close persons». As a result, it was concluded that these categories do not cover all persons protected by the Law of Ukraine «On Prevention and Counteraction to Domestic Violence». Therefore, to eliminate the inconsistency of criminal law with this Law, it is proposed in the disposition of Art. 126-1 «Domestic violence» of the Criminal Сode of Ukraine the phrase «concerning the spouse or the former spouse or other person with whom the guilty is (was) in family or close relations» and also in Art. 4.7.3. «Domestic violence» of the draft Criminal Code of Ukraine shall replace the phrase «concerning a spouse or other close person, including a former one» replaced by «concerning a person covered by the Law of Ukraine «On Prevention and Counteraction to Domestic Violence».

Abstract As the global health crisis unfolded, many academic conferences moved online in 2020. This move has been hailed as a positive step towards inclusivity in its attenuation of economic, physical, and legal barriers and effectively enabled many individuals from groups that have traditionally been underrepresented to join and participate. A number of studies have outlined how moving online made it possible to gather a more global community and has increased opportunities for individuals with various constraints, e.g., caregiving responsibilities. Yet, the mere existence of online conferences is no guarantee that everyone can attend and participate meaningfully. In fact, many elements of an online conference are still significant barriers to truly diverse participation: the tools used can be inaccessible for some individuals; the scheduling choices can favour some geographical locations; the set-up of the conference can provide more visibility to well-established researchers and reduce opportunities for early-career researchers. While acknowledging the benefits of an online setting, especially for individuals who have traditionally been underrepresented or excluded, we recognize that fostering social justice requires inclusivity to actively be centered in every aspect of online conference design. Here, we draw from the literature and from our own experiences to identify practices that purposefully encourage a diverse community to attend, participate in, and lead online conferences. Reflecting on how to design more inclusive online events is especially important as multiple scientific organizations have announced that they will continue offering an online version of their event when in-person conferences can resume.

We present a new method to evaluate the hydraulic jump characteristics in a horizontal rectangular channel with a positive step. We considered the flow curvature effect and the free surface’s small rise at the A-type hydraulic jump’s end. First, we present a novel method to give jump length estimation based on the similarity of the jump and the turbulent wall-jet, considering the pressure gradient. Then, considering the jump as a curvilinear flow and using a one-dimensional momentum equation, we present an accurate expression for the conjugate flow depth regarding the initial Froude number and step height. Finally, we compute the jump’s energy dissipation rate. Compared to the theoretical models for conjugate flow depth in a hydraulic jump, the proposed equation in this study fit the experimental data better, even for high steps and large initial Froude numbers. However, for low Froude numbers (F1 < 5), the equation was less accurate in estimating the jump length. Regarding the jump’s energy dissipation rate, the results agreed well with the experimental data from previous investigations. However, it is noted that the increased energy dissipation rate dwindled in larger Froude numbers.

The present study adopts a normative approach to examine the context-specific dilemmas and strategies experienced by individuals returning to their parental home after living independently. Through 31 in-depth interviews with individuals ranging in age from 22 to 31, we identified that the central communicative dilemma participants experienced was articulating the decision to move back home as an investment in the future rather than a source of stigma. Participants indicated various strategies to destigmatize the decision to move home and make the experience a positive step toward their futures and in their relationships with their families: communicate clear expectations, contribute to the household, embody adult behavior, and articulate clear timelines. The findings shed light on the complexities of creating an adult identity at a transitional time and supplement understanding of the moving—back—home experience by illustrating how adulthood embodies specific meanings in this context.
