A plant-based diet is more sustainable, and research suggests that adolescents obtain health benefits from adopting a more plant-based diet (e.g., improved weight control, increased cardiovascular health). However, it is still unclear what factors promote/hinder their intention to attain such a dietary habit. The aim of the present study was to examine factors affecting adolescents' willingness to consume more plant-based foods. In a theory-based interview study, using the Reasoned Action Approach as framework, adolescents were interviewed concerning their reasons for their (un)willingness to adopt a more plant-based diet. A total of 11 adolescents (15/16 years old; 7 girls, 4 boys) were recruited and interviewed at two secondary schools in the Dutch Province of Limburg, the Netherlands. None of the interviewees reported being vegan/vegetarian/flexitarian. The interviewed adolescents overall expressed little interest in adopting a more plant-based diet. They appeared to have little knowledge of what would comprise a more plant-based diet and showed a lack of awareness of the benefits for personal and planet health. Further, most participants indicated lacking skills to prepare plant-based meals. Despite that, they felt confident they would be able to consume a much more plant-based diet for a definite period. Most importantly, the low intention to consume more plant-based food options was explained by the perceived (or expected) poor taste of these foods. We conclude that education on the plant-based diet (i.e., increasing awareness of the benefits, and skills to procure or prepare a plant-based meal) might increase both knowledge and plant-based food familiarity. The latter being important as food familiarity is key in promoting its acceptance.

In manuscript considered human factor in traffic control. It was showed, that we cannot highlight one factor, which most influence to traffic controller or pilot. We need to consider a group of factors. We performed analysis of the influence of human factor in aviation shows that the latter should comprise several external factors, namely: intensity of traffic, weather conditions and magnetic storms, which are related with solar activity and unpredictability of magnetic storms caused by arising sunspots, as well as with putting into operation the new models of airplanes, to avionics of which pilots are forced to adapt for a definite period and acquire their own experience in operation with this model of aircraft.

The thesis deals with the issue of investigation of metaphors in Theodore Dreiser's novel “Sister Carrie”. The use of metaphors makes the novel more expressive and imaginary. Key words: metaphor, expressive means, stylistic means, fiction, Sister Carrie The issue of expressiveness in fiction is exceptionally important in the perception of the main idea of the novel. Creative heritage of outstanding writers, such as Theodore Dreiser, always attracted and attracts the attention of most researchers, both linguists and literary critics. Study of language means of these writers bears a great sense for revealing many sides of national literary language as a whole, for example, its history, expressive possibilities, rules and tendencies of language development in a definite period of time. All of these are possible only due to the deep penetration of the researchers to the creative laboratory of the writer. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study, conditioned by the aims and task set before the research, requires the following methods: semantic – contextual and functional analysis of metaphors; descriptive method of various approaches to the use and nature of metaphors; the method of theoretical substantiation of the essence of this stylistic device; method of continuous sampling of the actual language material; the method of comparative-typology.

The article examines the problems of the diverse infl uence of environmental elements, in which different forms of local art developed. The concept of the environment in the research is interpreted in all the aspects of the term. The infl uence of the social environment, national characteristics, the natural environment, the importance of aesthetic and historical interpretation, emotional and cognitive perception are analyzed in detail, as well as the parallel process of separating of canonized styles into national currents. It is emphasized here that the determining factor of merging of a certain mass of artistic phenomena into one whole is, first, the spiritual unity against which culture arises. A peculiarity of the proposed form of analysis is to consider this influence not at the definite period time, but in the dynamic context of historical changes under the influence of different factors.

The movement of jadidism and approach to the literature of jadids held a definite period in the last quarter of the 20th century. First, simple articles were published in newspapers and journals as works of the literature of jadids. This period was so important as a new part of studying Kodiriy, Fitrat and Chulpon’s creative works and it was like a pioneer step. Scholars of literature critical studies began approaching this trend not simply from the point of view of literary-aesthetics. They considered it to be a base to describe a national renaissance period of our literature. The article covers information about 16 great representatives of jadids movement and literature – Ismoilbek Gasprinskiy, Makhmudkhoja Bekhbudiy, Munavvar Kori Abdurashidkhon ugli, Abdurauf Fitrat and so on. The information is important since it is based on concrete opinions and researches of facts and sources of the authors. Jadidism and jadids literature and Chulpon’s role are given in articles, mass pamphlets, fundamental researches enable us to understand the role of this literature and its writers, their sociopolitical views, works and lives, which will be carried to readers. The most precious side of the works is that we are realizing ourselves, deep information about the faithful children of the nation. The article gives information about independence of our motherland, what kind of their literature influence on our hearts and how it is absorbed by our culture. Initially, jadids’ works were seldom published but beginning with 2000 their works became very popular; scholars began their researches about them. This period of time has been called the “literature of jadids”, the “national renaissance of Uzbek literature”.

The aim of the study is to estimate the possible risky behavior of Lithuanian divers and its relation to ear damage as well as identify the opinions of Lithuanian otolaryngologists concerning contraindications and recommendations in the diving field. Material and methods. The authors compiled two separate questionnaires for Lithuanian divers and otolaryngologists; in total, 84 questionnaires were completed. Statistical tests were used to detect the difference among answers of respondents who have distinct sociodemographic characteristics or different diving/consulting experience. Results. It was revealed that 47.5% of divers experienced difficulties while equalizing the air pressure. More than half of the divers (57.9%) ignored this embarrassment and continued diving. Ear pain was felt by 37.5% of the respondents during their diving session. Half of the divers consulted a doctor because of the pain, others did not pay attention and proceeded the diving. The third of the interviewed divers were diving though they had rhinitis. Most of them were diving without any medications. Only 13% of those who experienced dizziness consulted a doctor. Absolute contraindications to dive are a tympanic membrane perforation (90.9%), myringotomy tube inserted into a tympanic membrane (79.5%), and Eustachian tube dysfunction (61.4%); these disorders are most often reported by the interviewed otolaryngologists. In this survey, 61.3% of the otolaryngologists declared they would allow diving if there were no symptoms of vertigo in the past 3–6 months. The opinion of otolaryngologists on diving in the case of acute rhinitis, as well as on the returning to diving after the stapedoplasty, is different; 15% of the interviewed doctors would recommend stopping diving for a definite period. Despite the recommendations of doctors, 17.9% of divers continued to dive. Conclusions. This study shows that the behavior of divers regarding the hearing health is often quite risky. Lithuanian otolaryngologists are lacking consensus of opinion on contraindications for diving.

The paper discusses the features and usability of Electronic Performance Support Systems (EPSS) in education and improving the competence of adults. It is a serious problem for enterprises to search for employees (definite period, employment of students) for work that requires the use of business software. Learning (training) in the performance of tasks in such environment is an investment (requires time and expense). EPSS have been designed as tools to reduce the number of hours of training involving a trainer (human). These systems are coached - supported by people who use business software in their work on an ongoing basis. In the research we present how to implement them and in which way their popularization can help in hiring people without special pre-preparation, and only with the basic computer skills.
