This paper presents a nine-bit integrator-based time-to-digital converter (I-TDC) realized in a 180 nm CMOS technology for the applications of indoor home-monitoring light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensors. The proposed I-TDC exploits a clock-free configuration so as to discard clock-related dynamic power consumption and some notorious issues such as skew, glitch, and synchronization. It consists of a one-dimensional (1D) flash TDC to generate coarse-control codes and an integrator with a peak detection and hold (PDH) circuit to produce fine-control codes. A thermometer-to-binary converter is added to the 1D flash TDC, yielding four-bit coarse codes so that the measured detection range can be represented by nine-bit digital codes in total. Test chips of the proposed I-TDC demonstrate the measured results of the 53 dB dynamic range, i.e., the maximum detection range of 33.6 m and the minimum range of 7.5 cm. The chip core occupies the area of 0.14 × 1.4 mm2, with the power dissipation of 1.6 mW from a single 1.2-V supply.

Background: Patients' satisfaction is an indicator of technical, instrumental, environmental, and interpersonal aspects of care. It shows how much the health service “as a whole organization” meets the patients’ psychosocial expectations and if the health professionals combine their technical competence with relational skills. The Treatment Perception Questionnaire (TPQ) is a brief instrument developed in the United Kingdom for research with substance abuse disorder populations. The present study aimed at evaluating the reliability and test-retest stability of the TPQ Italian translation in a sample of patients with solid and blood cancers. Methods: The TPQ was administered to 263 people with solid and blood cancers. Test-retest reliability was evaluated in a subgroup of 116 participants who completed the TPQ again after 3 months. Results: The reliability of TPQ was good. Cronbach’s alpha: 0.83 (95%CI: 0.79-0.86), 0.66 (0.59-0.72), 0.71 (0.65-0.769), respectively, in the total test, and in subscales on “staff perception”, and “program perception”. Test-retest reliability was 0.82 (0.77-0.87). The mean difference between the first and the second assessment was 1.0 (SD = 7.1; 95% CI -0.35 to 2.33). By plotting the differences and the means of the two assessments, 5/116 cases (4.3%) were outside the upper and lower limits of agreement. Conclusions: This study points out good reliability and test-retest stability of the TPQ in the oncology field. The TPQ can be used to assess variation over time about satisfaction with care in patients with oncological diseases, favoring the identification of unmet patients’ needs about the quality of the service.

In this study, we investigated a label-free time efficient biosensor to recognize growth factors (GF) in real time, which are of gran interesting in the regulation of cell division and tissue proliferation. The sensor is based on a system of shear horizontal surface acoustic wave (SH-SAW) immunosensor combined with a microfluidic chip, which detects GF samples in a dynamic mode. In order to prove this method, to our knowledge not previously used for this type of compounds, two different GFs were tested by two immunoreactions: neurotrophin-3 and fibroblast growth factor-2 using its polyclonal antibodies. GF detection was conducted via an enhanced sequential workflow to improve total test time of the immunoassay, which shows that this type of biosensor is a very promising method for ultra-fast recognition of these biomolecules due to its great advantages: portability, simplicity of use, reusability, low cost, and detection within a relatively short period of time. Finally, the biosensor is able to detect FGF-2 growth factor in a concentration wide range, from 1–25 µg/mL, for a total test time of ~15 min with a LOD of 130 ng/mL.

This study purpose was to determine the level of motor competence and differences in motor skills of preschool girls aged 5 to 7 from Serbia according to participation in organized physical activities.  Materials and methods. Ninety-one girls aged 5-7 years (mean  ± 6.4) were divided into three subsamples: control group, rhythmic gymnastics and sports school. Girls were assessed with the MABC-2 test. Descriptive statistics analyzed the basic characteristics of participants according to the level of motor competence. Furthermore, Pearson’s χ2 test for contingency tables, MANOVA and discriminant analysis were employed to find differences in motor proficiency among groups.  Results. Significant differences have been found in girls attending rhythmic gymnastics in aiming & catching on the upper bound of moderate effect size (p < 0.001, η2 = 139), and total test score moderate effect size (p = 0.006, η2 = 0.105) compared to girls who did not participate in organized physical activity. The discrimination coefficient explained the differences in girls in aiming and catching, with a contribution of 41.4%, balance skills with 24%, and a total test score of 22.9%. According to the level of motor competence, 61% from the control group and 40% from the sports school group scored below average in aiming & catching. The total test score of ≥ 50 percentile was achieved by 68.3% of girls in the control group, 84% in the sports school group, and 96% in rhythmic gymnastics.  Conclusion. This study confirms that sports practice contributes to the development of motor capabilities and influences individual differences in children’s scores. Our findings can contribute to understanding how important it is to promote object control skills games for girls and older preschoolers generally.

Abstract Introduction: Canine Vector-borne disease (CVBD) has been an area of increasing interest in Europe over the last few decades, and there have been changes in the prevalence and distribution of many of these diseases. Monitoring CVBD infections in Europe is often done by individual countries, but aggregated data for the European countries are helpful to understand the distribution of CVBDs. Methods: We used an extensive retrospective database of results from point-of-care rapid enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) tests on dogs across Europe to identify distribution and seropositivity in animals tested for selected CVBDs (Anaplasma spp., Ehrlichia spp., Borrelia burgdorferi, Leishmania spp., and Dirofilaria immitis) from 2016 through 2020. Geographic distribution of positive tests and relative percent positive values were mapped by the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics classification for regions with sufficient test results for reporting.Results: A total of 404,617 samples corresponding with 1,134,648 canine results were available from dogs tested in 35 countries over the 5-year study period. Over this period the number of test results per year increased whereas test positivity decreased. Leishmania spp. had the largest increase in total test results from 25,000 results in 2016 to over 60,000 results in 2020. Test positivity for Leishmania spp. fell from 13.9% in 2016 to 9.4% in 2020. Test positivity fell for Anaplasma spp. (7.3% to 5.3%), Ehrlichia spp. (4.3% to 3.4%), and Borrelia burgdorferi (3.3% to 2.4%). D. immitis test positivity trended down with a high of 2.7% in 2016 and low of 1.8% in 2018. Leishmania spp. test positivity was highest in endemic areas and in several non-endemic countries with low numbers of test results. Co-positivity rates were significantly higher than expected for all pathogen test positive pairs except for Ehrlichia spp. with Borrelia burgdorferi and D. immitis with Borrelia burgdorferi.Conclusions: This study represents the largest data set on CVBD seropositivity in Europe to date. The increase in the number of test results and decreasing test positivity over the study period may reflect changes in testing behavior and increased screening of healthy animals. The Europe-wide mapping of CVBD provides expected test-positivity that can help inform veterinarians’ decisions on screening and improve prevention and identification of these important, sometimes zoonotic, diseases.

Abstract Objective: This study aimed to assess the utility of real-time remote auscultation using the cardiopulmonary simulators.Methods: In this open-label, randomized controlled trial, the researchers randomly assigned general internal medicine doctors to the real-time remote auscultation group (intervention group) or the classical auscultation group (control group). In the training session, participants listened to five different lung sounds and five cardiac sounds in a previously determined order with the correct classification. In the test session, participants had to classify the five lung sounds and five cardiac sounds in random order. For both sessions, the intervention group auscultated at a distance of 220 m, with an Internet-connected electronic stethoscope while watching the auscultation places on the computer screen. The control group performed direct auscultation using a classical stethoscope. The primary outcome was the total test score.Results: Twenty participants were included in the study. The total test scores of lung auscultation in the intervention (86%) and control (90%) groups were not significantly different (P = .54). The total test score of cardiac auscultation in the control group (94%) was superior to that in the intervention group (72%, P < .05). Valvular diseases were not misclassified as normal sounds in real-time remote cardiac auscultation. Discussion and Conclusions: The utility of real-time remote lung auscultation using an Internet-connected electronic stethoscope was comparable to that of classical lung auscultation. Classical cardiac auscultation was superior to real-time remote cardiac auscultation. However, real-time remote cardiac auscultation is useful for classifying valvular diseases and normal sounds. Feeding fish is a process that affects fish yields. Undisciplined feeding of fish resulted in decreased quality and quantity of fish. The potential for this problem can be reduced by implementing an IoT-based technology. That technology needs to have a monitoring system for remaining feed and the success of feeding. This study using a proximity sensor and infrared distance sensor for the monitoring system for the fish feeder. The results obtained are that the infrared distance sensor can provide information about the remaining fish feed more accurately after being calibrated, the average percentage error of the total test is 5,1%. While the proximity infrared sensor can provide information on the success of throwing feed, from the total testing of the proximity sensor, the success rate of detecting throw feed is 100%. Both information can be monitored via the Blynk platform on the user’s smartphone.

In this research, Medwave air and surface disinfection system (model:Klin20)selected to investigation effect , towards aerosolised enveloped viruses in room air. Phi6Pseudomonas syringae phage, a surrogate for coronavirus and influenza, was used in the trials Viral suspensions of Phi6 were aerosolised within the ukas accreditation Campden BRI aerobiology laboratory to achieve initial levels of ~106PFU/m3, representing very heavily contaminated air . Air samples were taken at 15 minute intervals and analysed to determine levels of Phi6 in the room air over a total test period of 135 minutes. On 3 separate days, paired trials were carried out with the Medwave switched onand with the units witched off as a control to determine baseline levels of virus in the air overtime. Trials carried out on the first two test days showed no reduction in viral titre compared with the control. Further investigation revealed that a wiring loom within the test unit had become disconnected during transport and the instrument was therefore not functioning correctly. Results from the trial showed that the level of Phi6 in the room air decreased rapidly from an initial titre of 6.12 log PFU/m3to undetectable levels (<1.78 log PFU/m3) after 45 minutes of operation, representing a log reduction of ≥4.00 logs compared with the control run with the unit switched off. The purpose of the study was to find out whether a short 6-week intervention on motor competence can reduce the Relative Age Effect (RAE) of preschool children born in the first quarter, compared to those born in the fourth quarter of the same year. Seventy-six preschool children (5.20 ± 0.54 years) from Lugo (Spain) participated. A quasi-experimental pre-post-test design was used with an intervention group (n = 32) and a control group (n = 44). The Movement Assessment Battery for Children-2 (MABC-2) was used to collect data before and after the intervention. The data show that, before the intervention, there are significant differences between the control and the intervention group in favor of the former (born in the first quarter of the year) in manual dexterity (p = 0.011), balance (p = 0.002), total test score (p = 0.008), and total percentile score (p = 0.010). After the application of the specific intervention, statistically significant differences were found in aiming and catching (p < 0.001), balance (p = 0.022), total test score (p = 0.001), and total percentile score (p < 0.001) in favor of the intervention group (born in the last quarter of the year). The results obtained suggest that the application of a specific intervention on MC could positively influence the improvement of MC in preschool children (boys and girls) and reduce the differences produced by the RAE.
