The authors present a new and holistic conceptualization on the feeling of presence. This consists of several components. The first two propose a new definition of presence and the identification of a fourth component of presence called presence of action. The third component consists of a unified approach to presence taking into account technological, psychological, and ecological considerations. They have developed a model that identifies the processes leading to the feeling of presence. According to the model, two unconscious phases of judgment condition the emergence of presence. The first judgment concerns the credibility of the environment, which depends on the satisfaction of the user's intellectual and perceptual expectations.

The reliable operation of coal mining machinery acts as an important guarantee for safe productions in underground coal mines. The status monitoring and fault diagnosis of traditional coal mining machinery mainly rely on threshold judgments. However, a single judgment condition and a long fault propagation chain can be found in the method of threshold judgments, which make it difficult to accurately seek the fault type. By using the data analysis of state parameters for coal mining machinery, fault parameters and propagation paths can be analyzed effectively. This paper takes the cutting unit of a certain type of bolter miners as an example, a static and dynamic numerical analysis method of the cutting unit of bolter miners are established by virtue of FTA-Petri net models and BP-Firefly neural networks, which can provide a new perspective for fault diagnosis of coal mining machinery.

A long-lasting and unresolved debate in the field of aesthetics is whether beauty is inherent to the object of appreciation or to the subject contemplating it. Several studies suggest that physical features (e.g., symmetry, contrast) of an artwork influence aesthetic rating. Nevertheless, this objectivist approach fails to explain the idiosyncratic nature of aesthetic experiences (AE). Recent models propose a multi-process account of AE, integrating a subjective evaluation based on self-referential processing. This proposition seems coherent with neuroimaging studies showing activation of a common neural network during AE and self-reference. Nevertheless, behavioural data supporting this hypothesis is missing. We took advantage of the self-reference effect (SRE) in memory – the mnemonic advantage for material encoded in a self-related mode - to test the hypothesis that aesthetic judgement is based on self-related processes. We predicted that if aesthetic judgement recruits self-referential processing, incidentally encoding artworks in this condition should produce a similar mnemonic advantage as the SRE. To test this hypothesis, 30 participants incidentally encoded 60 painting in three conditions: self-reference, judgement of beauty and judgement of symmetry (control condition). We found that items encoded in the aesthetic judgment condition were as well recognized as those encoded in self-reference condition when participants gave extreme judgements on the beauty scale during encoding. These findings suggest that at least intense AEs activate an individual’s sense of self.

The compaction construction process is a critical operation in civil engineering projects. By establishing a construction simulation model, the compaction duration can be predicted to assist construction management. Existing studies have achieved adaptive modelling of input parameters from a Bayesian inference perspective, but usually assume the model as parametric distribution. Few studies adopt the nonparametric distribution to achieve robust inference, but still need to manually set hyper-parameters. In addition, the condition of when the roller stops moving ignores the impact of randomness of roller movement. In this paper, a new adaptive compaction construction simulation method is presented. The Bayesian field theory is innovatively adopted for input parameter adaptive modelling. Next, whether rollers have offset enough distance is used to determine the moment of stopping. Simulation experiments of the compaction process of a high earth dam project are demonstrated. The results indicate that the Bayesian field theory performs well in terms of accuracy and efficiency. When the size of roller speed dataset is 787,490, the Bayesian field theory costs only 1.54 s. The mean absolute error of predicted compaction duration reduces significantly with improved judgment condition. The proposed method can contribute to project resource planning, particularly in a high-frequency construction monitoring environment.

Considering the importance of reducing system operating costs and controlling pollutant emissions by optimizing the operation of the integrated energy system, the energy supply structure of the integrated energy system and the joint multiobjective optimization dispatching structure is analyzed in this paper based on a day-ahead economic optimization dispatching model of the integrated energy system. Afterwards, the multiobjective optimization model of the integrated energy system is studied and multiobjective hierarchical progressive parallel algorithm based on improved NSGA-II is proposed according to the characteristics of the model. The algorithm improves the nondominated layer sorting algorithm, changes the convergence judgment condition while introducing the target reaching method to accelerate convergence, and introduces parallel computing technology according to the characteristics of the algorithm. The case shows that the proposed algorithm not only has advantages on the diversity in searching solutions but also can achieve better results in many aspects such as the iteration time and algorithm convergence which are required in practical engineering projects.

This paper proposed the normal contact searching method (NCSM), a novel method to search for the wheel–rail contact point, which utilizes the normal maximum penetration distance between wheel and rail as the judgment condition. The contact point found by the NCSM can better represent the center of the wheel–rail contact patch which is considered more reasonable than the commonly used vertical contact searching method (VCSM), the latter adopts the vertical minimum distance to determine the wheel–rail contact point. The differences between these two methods are analyzed and compared for the same contact point situation and with same motion parameters. The results show that, for the Chinese LMA wheelset and CHN60 rail profiles, these two methods have slight differences for the same contact point situation. For a wheelset with a lateral displacement less than 7.0[Formula: see text]mm and with no yawing, the NCSM’s contact point is very close to VCSM’s, so both methods are suitable for the dynamic calculation. For a wheelset with a lateral displacement greater than 7.0[Formula: see text]mm or with yawing, an unreasonable jump occurs at the wheel–rail contact point and wheelset angle root contact by applying VCSM, while the NCSM has only small discrete jump on the wheelset tread contact. In this case, the NCSM instead of VCSM should be used in the dynamic analysis.

We explored the how non-athletes, athletes doing mountain sports, and athletes doing sports other than mountain sports use five informational cues (relatedness, autonomy, competence, risk-taking, and weather conditions) for judging the degree of arousal and the degree of satisfaction experienced during mountain rambling. Participants gave their judgment of arousal and satisfaction in 32 scenarios constructed from the orthogonal combination of these information cues. All three groups integrated the informational cues in the same way. The impact of relatedness and the impact risk-taking varied according to the judgment condition.

Based on the novel enhanced quantum representation for quantum image (NEQR), a new blind quantum steganography scheme is proposed. In this scheme, an improved quantum representation of text utilizing American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) is provided that uses two qubit sequences to store the same quantum text message. The general embedding process of the scheme is as follows: First, the cover image of size [Formula: see text] will be divided into eight blocks of size [Formula: see text] and the secret quantum text of size [Formula: see text] is scrambled by Gray code transform method. Then, the disorder quantum text is embedded into the eight blocks of cover image employing the Gray code as a judgment condition. Meanwhile, the corresponding quantum circuits are drawn. Through the analysis of all quantum circuits, it can be concluded that the scheme has a lower complexity that is [Formula: see text]. And the performance of the proposed scheme is analyzed in terms of simulation results of three items: visual quality, capacity and robustness.

The navigable depth, affecting economic value, needs to be determined in ports and waterways with thickness of silt layer. Through the studies of silt samples, it is found that the relationship between viscosity and specific weight follows the cubic polynomial equations. A new method is proposed for determining the navigable Specific Weight, that is, the same increment of the viscosity and the specific weight () is regarded as the judgment condition for the navigable Specific Weight.

This paper mainly discussed the non-linear characteristics of photovoltaic cell and the importance of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) strategy. Most of MPPT control methods had the shortcomings of inaccuracy, tardiness, complexity and big fluctuations nearby the MPP which greatly reduced the efficiency of large photovoltaic power generation system. Double fuzzy logic control (DFLC) method can solve this problem The judgment condition of choosing FLC was listed in which FLC 1 targeted to less shake and made the curve become more smooth and steady nearby the MPP, FLC 2 was combined by fuzzy control and PID algorithm, and both of them aim to realize the optimization control of PV system. The results of simulation show that the proposed control strategy can track the MPP of PV system very accurately and quickly along with the rapid change of the ambient environment.
