The implementation of complementary medicine (CM) involves a large number of persons in Italy, and in the nineties, the percentage of Italian citizens adopting the most frequent and relevant practices of CM almost doubled. Appropriate academic education in CM is an important and fascinating challenge for current didactic systems in the Italian University. Already in 2004, the Joint Italian Conference of the Deans of the Faculties of Medicine and of the Presidents of Medical Degree Courses released an official statement regarding the relationship between CM and health area degree courses. The main teaching objectives embedded in the institutional framework proposed by the Joint Italian Conference are now finding specific implementation modalities in the University of Florence. For many years, the Florence Medical School has had strong and fruitful contacts with institutional bodies in Tuscany and, together with these institutions, has established a continuous dialogue with the world of CM. This exchange has given rise to various teaching activities within the academic setting. With specific reference to the undergraduate curriculum in Medicine and Surgery, a methodological course regarding CM has been designed and conducted, with selective attention being given to the CM practices having an enhanced rate of supportive scientific evidence, such as herbal medicine and acupuncture. With regard to the postgraduate curriculum, a Master degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and a Master in Clinical Phytotherapy are already active in the University of Florence and are having a remarkable success among the attending health professionals. This high degree of satisfaction well documents the importance, need and feasibility of structured academic education in CM and, in particular, of a methodological didactics such as those currently implemented in the Florence Medical School.

Abstract The quality of online education is of interest to universities around the world. Only high quality and cyclical evaluation are the conditions for obtaining students’ satisfaction with this form of education. In the pandemic era, digital dissemination and open education have become a special obligation of academic education. This paper aims to present the opinions of postgraduate students on the quality of e-learning forced by the Covid-19 pandemic. The study was conducted using an online survey questionnaire sent to all 173 MBA and Executive MBA (EMBA) students studying during the pandemic era in Poland's leading Business School, 40% of whom returned completed valid surveys. Students assessed aspects of e-learning such as teaching materials, communication with lecturers, the attractiveness of online classes, networking, strategies, and criteria for evaluating didactic activities, e-learning platform, and support received from the university. The results showed that although most examined aspects are perceived very well or well by the students, there is always some space for improvement. Despite the fact that the study was conducted on a small sample of students, their opinions obtained during the survey provide valuable information to universities about the quality of postgraduate e-learning from its main actors, that is, students. Based on this, the paper presents clear recommendations to universities on how the quality of online education could be managed and improved.

AbstractThe aim of this qualitative research is to analyze university students’ attitudes toward family entrepreneurship. The theoretical framework of the study analyzes the interaction between family business, ownership, and entrepreneurship education. 211 students from the University of Jyväskylä participated in the study during the basic business study course “Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Business Operations” in September 2007. 143 of those wrote a one page essay, either in Finnish or English, on family entrepreneurship and family business ownership. The students were told to write about the phenomena in their own words. The results were analyzed with content analysis in order to understand how to improve the development of family business entrepreneurship education. The results of the study show that family businesses are perceived through the concept of family: a family owns, works in, and manages a family business. Students perceive family businesses as small businesses that employ people locally. Entrepreneurship motivates students, but owning a family business was perceived as unattractive. The results of the study can be utilized in family business entrepreneurship education.

The study aimed to identify the reality of knowledge management and obstacles to its implementation and ways to develop it as seen by academics at the universities of Hebron and Alquds Open in Hebron. The study followed the analytical descriptive approach. The study population is composed of academics working at the universities of Hebron and Alquds Open in Hebron Governorate. To collect the data, a questionnaire was used consisting of (60) paragraphs. The sample size was (62) academic. The results indicate that the reality of knowledge management and its obstacles to development was generally high. The results also showed that the level of awareness of the concept of knowledge management was high. , And that knowledge recognition is a feature of modern management. The results also show that the most prominent constraints to knowledge management application are excessive centralization and complex administrative procedures. The results confirmed ways to develop knowledge management application. The results of the study showed that there are significant differences in the reality of knowledge management and the obstacles to its implementation and ways of activating it from the point of view of academics in the universities of Hebron and Alquds Open in Hebron Governorate due to variables :(gender, scientific qualification, years of service, age, university). While there were differences of statistical significance according to variable academic education. In light of the results, the study made a number of recommendations. The most important of these are the following:( The university should promote knowledge management applications through scientific activities and issue journals and publications to disseminate knowledge. The university policies should include supporting scientific research and researchers.

Thanks to easier operability and a growing range of functions, open source products are increasingly being used in teaching GIS to students of various course programs. The elaboration of such courses poses the challenge of taking into account different study paths, allowing for student autonomy (e-learning), and choosing the right software. The article suggests answers to these questions by presenting the classes offered at the University of Applied Sciences in Deggendorf and the University of Passau since winter 2010/11 as well as ideas for future course offers.

This essay is an element of dialogue between educational practices acquired in territorial education contexts and the University. In particular, starting from the 10-year long experience consolidated in three educational centres operating in border areas of the Province of Naples, a series of ‘key competences’ have been highlighted that are indispensable to the containment of social risk disadvantage in an inclusion (Bertolini 1977; Freire 2004; Rossi 2014; Sabatano 2015a, 2015b) and well-being project (Iavarone 2007, 2009) from an educational point of view. Such competencies have become subject of a ‘participatory didactic planning’ between expert educators working in these contexts and a university course on ‘Pedagogy of relationships’ within the Department of Motor Science and Well-Being at the University of Naples Parthenope. The participatory planning practice has set the most ambitious goal of achieving a ‘system methodology’ to be used in the curriculum-design of the university courses in order to make the academic education offer a proper link element between the educational demand of young people, the demand for professional skills in the territory and the emerging social needs in order to improve employability processes. The main results that this experience has highlighted can be deducted from the student’s satisfaction survey, as well as from the data collected and processed by the University Assessment Team, in the Department’s Joint Commission Reports, which show a clear and overall improvement of the communication processes between non-academic institutions collaborating with the University for the conduct of internships, training sessions and placement-targeted activities. The empirical evidence and the positive results obtained provide substantial comfort in considering that the experience gained can be a ‘good practice’ to be included in the didactic planning process of the courses, even in relation to the need to improve the educational and didactic offer with reference to the new quality assurance parameters (QA) for the periodic accreditation of the CdS according to the AVA-ANVUR legislation in force

AbstractThe history of Physical Education reports us that the physical exercises have emerged and have been perfected in accordance with the social order, evolving in direct relation with it. During this paper we will define the phenomenon of Physical education and sport as a discipline of academic education, starting from the general notions to the particular ones in the general physical training of the student actor. In this paper we try to highlight some similarities between the preparation of the actor and the preparation of the athlete for professional performance. We will present the theoretical framework with well-defined and accepted notions in both sports and theater. We will subsequently present the particular framework in which the theoretical principles in the sports field are taken over by the university theater programme and put into practice for the general preparation of the future actor. The article closes with the selection of some basic conclusions and recommendations appropriate to the topic under discussion

ABSTRACTIn recent years educational models have been changed in order to establish teaching-learning processes to set up profiles and professionalize the academic education actively. A didactic strategy is problem based learning (PBL). The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of PBL on university students’ through social meaning that it represent themselves. Method: it was used a mixed methodology. The analysis unit was social meaning about PBL, which was analyzed through the natural semantic network technique. The sample was composed by 93 psychology students of the University of Colima in three different grades (3, 5 and 7). The test used was an open question questionnaire type. The results obtained in the SAM group showed that the main defining words with highest social representativeness regarding to PBL are: research, learning, team, analysis and debate.RESUMENEn años recientes se han modificado los modelos educativos con el fin de establecer procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje que instauren perfiles y profesionalicen la formación universitaria de manera activa. Una estrategia didáctica es el aprendizaje basado en problemas (ABP). El objetivo de la presente investigación es analizar el impacto que tiene el ABP en los estudiantes universitarios a través del significado social que representa para los mismos. Se empleó una metodología mixta. La unidad de análisis fue el significado social del ABP, el cual se estudió a través de la técnica red semántica natural. La muestra estuvo conformada por 93 estudiantes de tres diferentes semestres (3, 5 y 7) de la Licenciatura en Psicología, Universidad de Colima. El instrumento utilizado fue un cuestionario con preguntas abiertas. Los resultados obtenidos en el conjunto SAM, muestran que las principales palabras definidoras con mayor representatividad respecto al ABP son: investigación, aprendizaje, equipo, análisis y debate. Contacto principal: [email protected]

During recent years, the increasing public demand for community college programs which lead to immediate employment has created something of an "identity crisis "for college faculty in British Columbia. Orginally, the college concept in this province reflected a comprehensive curriculum with a major emphasis upon academic programs which provide the student with transfer credit to the universities. However, comment in the public press and statements from the Ministry of Education indicate that the academic programs are very much out of favor and perhaps should be relegated to the universities. In view of the uncertainty which this situation has produced, it seemed important to take a new look at the college academic - transfer programs in 1977. The study which followed produced several important facts. Despite rumour to the contrary, enrollment in college academic programs has not declined over the past five years, but has remained at approximately 65%. The percentage of university transfer students actually transferring from colleges to universities has reached 16%, although there is considerable variation among the individual colleges. Studies indicate that only about half of the university transfer students actually " i n t e n d " to transfer to university. Obviously, many students in the university transfer programs are interested in general education or merely exploring their capacity or interest in academic study. At the University of British Columbia, the percentage of under- graduate students who have transferred from colleges has grown from 9% in 1969 to 18% in 1976. The majority of these students are successful in obtaining a university degree. Finally, it should be stated that the term "university transfer" is really a misnomer. The values of an academic education are just as real as ever, and transfer to university is not the sole criterion on which these programs should be judged. The academic programs of the community college meet the needs of a clientele served by no other institution, offer educational opportunity for a segment of society which has been ignored in the past and provide a major impact upon the quality of life in its immediate community.
