The article focuses on the libraries and the publishing and book trading organizations established by Moscow students in the early twentieth century. These organizations were founded to make the textbooks more available, cheaper and less deficient than they were at the moment. As the resource of the textbooks, libraries of compatriots’ associations were widespread. At the Moscow University students publishing commissions (parts of benefit societies) printed lecture notes and examination programs. Library, publishing, and trading activities were tightly bound in these societies. In the Moscow Technical School and the Moscow Women High Courses the libraries and publishing houses functioned independently of each other and of economical organizations of students. The students Library of textbooks at the Moscow Agricultural Institute was really unique, as it combined library service with book publishing for a while. Book trade was usually managed by publishers. Besides students organizations within educational institutes, there functioned a cooperative bookstore and a publishing house at the same time, common for all Moscow students. A dream, that never came true, was a Students House and united library collections of textbooks in it. In spite of many complications, the cooperation was successful, and due to it, access to the textbooks was facilitated for many students.

Canadian publishing was inhibited from the beginning by Canada’s colonial origins and dependence on Great Britain and the USA. Few art books were published until quite recently; the relatively small, scattered population, the flooding of the market with British, American and (in Quebec) French books, and limited (at best) or non-existent sales outside Canada continue to be constraining factors. The necessity to include both English and French texts adds to the cost of book production in Canada. The publication of art books, and of exhibition catalogues, depends on the availability of government grants. Publications on the art of the North American Indian and Inuit peoples are an exception, attracting widespread interest and leading in some instances to co-publishing initiatives. In addition to the larger publishing houses, a number of small presses produce occasional art books, thanks to grants and in a few cases with the added benefit of sales abroad achieved through international networking. A government programme of support for Canadian publishing, launched in 1986, is continuing.

Pochaivska Lavra was one of the largest cultural centers in the XVIII - the first third of the XIX century. Pochaivs’ka Lavra Printing house, after the printing house of the Kyiv-Pechers’k Monastery, was one of most powerful publishing center in the Ukrainian lands. Until the end of the XVIII century it published about 250 editions in Cyrillic and about 200 editions in Latin and others languages. At present, relevant is unbiased and objective coverage of all aspects of the activity of the Pochayivs’ka Lavra at the period of the Basilians as the least studied and on the other hand as the most productive period, especially in the book publishing process. The purpose of this article is an attempt to determine the role of the Pochayiv monastery as the center of the unification of Ukrainians, analyzing the repertoire of the Pochayiv publishing house at the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century, the language of publications, their design and contacts with other publishing houses. It is concluded that the most productive activity of the Pochayiv printing house was Uniate period - XVIII - beginning of the XIX century. The typical features of the printing industry of this time were: a diverse repertoire of books that included the spiritual and secular literature of various Christian confessions, original and translated works of religious moralistic content, multilingual editions, and their high artistic level. The activity of the Pochayiv Assumption printing house extending beyond narrow confessional boundaries. Like the Kyiv editions were used not only by the Orthodox, but also by the Catholics of the Byzantine rite, the Pochaiv books and engravings spread among the Orthodox population of Ukraine. The undoubted merit of this cultural and spiritual center was that it continued the tradition of printing Ukrainian-language publications in conditions where the Kyiv- Pechers’ka printing house was deprived of such a possibility under the pressure of decrees of Russian secular and church authorities. The Pochayiv printing house maintained close contacts with other publishing centers - both Uniate and Orthodox. This is evidenced by the active using and reprint of their publications in Pochaiv. Despite the different denominations, there were close contacts between the Pochayiv Uniate and Kyiv-Pechers’k Orthodox printing houses. This testified to the spiritual unity of Ukrainian lands besides state borders, religious and administrative barriers of secular and church authorities.

Lithuanian integration in the financial Eurozone and Lithuanian publishing business development in the European Union and outside it, becomes an important problem requiring a solution. Promoting the dissemination of printed books and literacy in Lithuania and beyond, to properly introduce the achievements of Lithuania in foreign countries, it is important to ensure Lithuanian letter, educational and scientific book publishing development. The article examines the characteristics of the international marketing publishing, the world and Lithuanian state publishing houses on the basis of foreign and Lithuanian scientists theoretical insights about the instruments of international marketing opportunities, developing proposals for publishing business integration of new economic conditions. Lietuvai integruojantis į finansinę euro zoną, Lietuvos leidybos verslo plėtra Europos Sąjungoje bei už jos ribų tampa svarbia problema, kurią reikia spręsti. The influence of readers on the communication of the publishing organization in the modern media space was analysed in this study. The main objective was to find out the role of readers in the communication of book publishers in Ukraine. To achieve the objective of the study, the author used the method of analysis of scientific sources and the method of scientific generalization. The author also applied the method of observation through polling the visitors of the Book Arsenal in Kyiv and the Book Forum in Lviv during 2016-2018. It was explored that among the visitors of the largest Ukrainian book publishing forums, one-third of the active media consumers were interested in the events of the book publishing market, they created and distributed media content by themselves. It was proved that active consumers became prosumers and effectively influenced the communication policy of the publishing houses. It was recommended to the publishers’ PR-managers to properly consider modern changes in the media space which influence the readership activity, to adopt a culture of interaction with the readers, to use them as an effective source of dissemination of information about book novelties, and to try turn them into promoters of the publishing houses’ brands.

The article deals with general state of the national book publishing business of the 20s – 30s of the 20th century. The author reveals and analyses the publications of the university book collection valuable in terms of content, design, and time of printing. The history and destiny of some books of educational, scientific and fiction literature are researched. The author’s attention is focused on the problems of book publishing process in Ukraine, in particular books of social, economic, agricultural and technical content. The activity of well-known Ukrainian publishing houses of this period is analysed and a bibliographic review of the repertoire of the publications is given. The author notes a significant percentage of academic literature among Ukrainian book production, in particular the works of scientists in various fields of knowledge.The role and place of publishing houses of the regional level are determined. The literature devoted to the World War I is an important contribution to the development of the Ukrainian publishing space. General picture of preparation and printing of works of Ukrainian fiction literature and popular science editions from various branches of knowledge is created. The attention of publishing houses was paid to the preparation of textbooks for rural schools. the creation of popular serial publications was a special feature. Lviv magazines, bulletins on the history and geography of Ukrainian lands are valuable in terms of content. Materials on censorship oppression and seizure of books on Ukrainian science, literature and art are provided. A number of local history publications related to the national book heritage are revealed and analysed, in particular by D.I. Yavornitsky, I.I. Ohienko, L.V. Pisarzhevsky and others. During the scientific research, the author tries to highlight the unknown and forgotten pages of book printing in Ukraine, which are related to development and inhibition of social, economic and political processes.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the statistical parameters, qualitative characteristics of the Ukrainian (as well as the Soviet in general) book publishing, publishing houses, groups of publications, printing, the press of the 1920s through the prism of the then-Bolshevik worldview in combination with the national-indigenous beliefs of A Press of the Ukrainian SSR to the 15th Anniversary of October (1932). Descriptive, comparative, inductive, deductive methods, as well as methods of systematization and generalization were used to analyze this work, fit it into the context of the development of national and world book publishing and periodicals, formulate conclusions. Ukrainian scientists of the Soviet era have bypassed the work of M. Aguf, fearing accusations of nationalism, and researchers of the period of independence do not pay attention to her because of her biased attitude as being openly engaged. There is a certain overlap in the book: for example, the characteristic of the publishing production of 1917–18 years in Ukraine is overlooked, the overt court falsifications in the IED case are recounted and so on. M. Aguf is constantly guided by the Communist Party guidelines and perspective in covering the development and problems of book publishing. However, it relies primarily on statistics, which enables it to characterize trends in the quantitative and qualitative development of book publishing, the dominance of propaganda-political, anti-religious literature in publishing portfolios, the centralization of the publishing sphere, the press and party-state control over them.At the same time, M. Aguf notes the significant growth of Ukrainian-language publications, publications in the languages ​​of other national minorities, Scientific, technical, reference literature, classical and contemporary fiction Ukrainian literature, the achievements of rooting in this field. It outlines IT and significant problems with the staff in the publishing and periodical sphere, development of the Union and republican printing and paper industry, book distribution, satisfaction of the Reader Queries. M. Aguf's book describes the 1920s as a very fruitful period in the development of not only the Ukrainian Soviet, but also the national book publishing.
