In small-group problem-based learning (PBL), students work cooperatively to solve complex, real-world problems. The problems lead the students to learn basic concepts rather than being presented as applications of concepts they have already learned. The goals are for students to learn and be able to apply the disciplinary content, develop critical thinking abilities, and acquire skills of life-long learning, communication, and team building. PBL has been widely used in recent years in medical and related areas of professional education. In those settings each small group typically has its own faculty facilitator. PBL can be successfully adapted for teaching undergraduate and graduate basic science students, in part by having multiple groups meet in one room with a roving facilitator. This report describes a two-semester PBL sequence in organ-systems physiology. To keep the interest of a diverse group of seniors and graduate students, several types of problems were used: clinical, laboratory research-based, real-life scenarios, and published research articles. The majority of students have responded enthusiastically.

Arabic is the language of Muslim’s holy book, and reading it is obligatory for Muslims. In Islamic education, Arabic is the language that should be mastered as a means of understanding the original texts of the source of Islamic law. One of the important thing in learning Arabic is the method. Zam-Zam Muhammadiyyah Modern Islamic Boarding School implements a diffent model and method of learning Arabic compared to other Islamic boarding schools in the district of Cilongok. This is a qualitative research, through a case study using interview, observation and documentation techniques for collecting data and interactive analysis for analying data. The findings of this research are three models of Arabic learning in Pondok Pesantren. The first model is khiwar or muhadatsah, the second is mufrodat walls intended to make students familiar with Arabic vocabulary, and the third is Lughoh. The method and model of Arabic learning in the institution as described above is a combined method. There are at least three methods used, i.e. Communicative Problem-Based Learning Method, Audiolingual Method, and Grammar-Translation Method.

The purpose of this research is to improve the ability of prospective counselor in writing a research proposal through Problem Based Learning method/ Inquiry (PBL/I) and in particular its purpose is to (1) determine the increased activity of the prospective counselor in writing a research proposal with PBL/I method, and (2) the increase in the ability of prospective counselors in writing a research proposal. This study uses classroom action research with the research subjects were VII semester student majoring BK IAIN Batusangkar. The results of the study in the first cycle showed an increase in activity and the ability of prospective counselors in writing a research proposal. This increase is very varied in accordance with the capability and experience of the students. The results of the second cycle study showed mastery of each indicator, but the indicators are controlled and enhanced by the prospective counselor in the research proposal is; select and formulate the title of the actual and straightforward, choosing and using the concept/ theory/ reference that is current and relevant to support the research problem, enter the empirical facts in the background of the problem, restrict and define problems, formulate objectives in line with the formulation of research problems, formulating usability research, select and use the theory / concept of the actual, choose the appropriate method to the problem and research objectives, and the ability to follow the format of the research proposal.

The aim of this study was to design a learning environment supported by a problem-based learning method and to obtain students' views on this process. In this context, the Database Management Systems course was taught according to the problem-based learning method. The participants of the study consisted of 25 students from the 2nd-grade students studying in the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology in the spring semester of 2015 at Uludag University Faculty of Education. The research design of this study was the case study, which is one of the qualitative research designs. Data were obtained from the students via a semi-structured interview form. Descriptive analysis was applied to the data obtained from the interview. According to the results obtained from the analysis of the data, the students were generally satisfied with the problem-based learning practices. In addition, the students emphasized that it is important to have a sufficient level of necessary knowledge of the implementation of problem-based learning to design the classroom environment.

The need for energy is increasing. If fossil fuels continue to be consumed at this rate, they will disappear after a short period of time. Therefore, it is essential to use limited energy resources consciously. How early students wins this awareness, positive outcomes will be much more. The main purpose of the study is to make students aware of the problems from early ages and the object of this study is to find out how Problem Based Learning (PBL) affect the 5th grade students literacy improvement by using knowledge tests. It is an experimental study with a controlled group applied pre-test and final- test. It was carried out with the 5th grade students on 2013-2014 education year. A total of 36 students participated in the study. The involved in the experiment and control group were selected randomly. In the experiment group, the students were taught using activities prepared by Problem Based Learning and in control group, the students were taught using traditional methods. The duration for each group was 10 lesson hours. Data of search was derived using energy literacy knowledge test (ELKT). When researched the effect of Problem Based Learning method carried out on experiment group and traditional method carried out on control group, a significant distinction in favor of Problem Based Learning method was found out.
