The generating, floating and collapsing of arc bubble is a special phenomenon in underwater flux-cored wet welding. The configuration changing process of bubble will change the stress on droplet and influence the droplet transfer process. In this study, the shape changing of bubble is captured in graphic and the real-time electric signal data is obtained. The impact of bubble floating and collapsing results in the globular repelled transfer mode, which also reduces the arc stability. A self-designed gas-shield cover is used as a bubble constraint device to improve the welding process stability and weld appearances by limiting the free floating and expansion of arc bubble. The relationships between the cover diameter and the characteristics of weld appearance are studied.

In this study, we unite two experimental traditions to examine the impact of discursive processes on political decision making. We directly manipulate the presence and timing of discussion in the “divide-the-dollar” game to assess the effects of discussion on participants' allocations and perceptions of the game's legitimacy. To investigate the influence of structure, we also manipulate the presence of a majority/minority cleavage among participants. The dependent measures in all instances are the players' allocations, the outcome of the game, and psychometric indicators of legitimacy perceptions. Results indicate that the presence of discussion can generate outcomes that are perceived as more equitable and fair in some circumstances—namely, when a cleavage is present. These findings establish the utility of this paradigm, as well as an important baseline for assessing the probable impacts of proposals to integrate deliberation into political decision making.

Gas metal arc welding has been generally accepted as the preferred joining technique due to its advantages in high production and automated welding applications. Separate control of arc energy and arc force is an essential way to improve the welding quality and to obtain the projected metal transfer mode. One of the most effective methods for obtaining separate control is to exert an additional force on the metal transfer process. In this paper, the droplet transfer process with additional mechanical force is studied. The welding system is composed of an oscillating wire feeder. The images of molten metal droplets are captured by a high-speed digital camera, and both the macroscopic appearance and the cross-sectional profiles of the weld beads are analysed. It is shown that the droplet transfer process can be significantly improved by wire electrode oscillation, and a projected spray transfer mode can be established at much lower currents. By increasing the oscillation frequency, the droplet transfer rate increases while the droplet size decreases. In addition, the improvement in the droplet transfer process with wire oscillation leads to an enhancement of the surface quality and a modification of the geometry of the weld beads that could be of importance for overlay cladding and rapid prototyping based on deposition by welding.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread globally and is currently having a damaging impact on nearly all countries in the world. The implementation of stringent measures to stop COVID-19 dissemination had an influence on healthcare services and associated procedures, possibly causing antibiotic consumption fluctuations. This paper aims to evaluate the immediate and long-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on antibiotic prescribing trends in outpatient care of the Portuguese public health sector, including in primary healthcare centers and hospitals, as well as on specific antibiotic groups known to be closely associated with increased resistance. Segmented regression analysis with interrupted time series data was used to analyze whether the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact in antibiotic prescribing tendencies at a national level. The outcomes from this quasi-experimental approach demonstrate that, at the beginning of the pandemic, a significant, immediate decrease in the overall antibiotic prescribing trends was noticed in the context of outpatient care in Portugal, followed by a statistically non-significant fall over the long term. The data also showed a significant reduction in the prescription of particular antibiotic classes (antibiotics from the Watch group, 3rd-generation cephalosporins, fluoroquinolones, and clarithromycin) upon COVID-19 emergence. These findings revealed an important disruption in antibiotics prescribing caused by the current public health emergency.

The purpose of this study was inquiring The Impact of the reciprocal Teaching Strategy on the Development of Achievement in Islamic Education in Seventh Grade Students in Jordan. To achieve goals of this study, a test has been developed to observe the Development of Achievement. The researcher adopted a quasi- experimental approach in which the experimental group consisting of (30) students was taught in accordance with reciprocal Teaching Strategy. At the same time, the controlled group consisting of (30 students) was taught in the traditional way. The tests and the motive measuring was applied prior and post- teaching on both groups. The Analysis of Covariance results (Test- t) indicated a significant difference at (α≤0.05) between the two groups, which is attributed to the reciprocal Teaching Strategy, in developing the Acquiring Concepts in Islamic , of Learning Islamic Education Course for the experimental group. The results also indicated variation in the performance of (the experimental group) students in the posttest of the reciprocal Teaching Strategy (in developing the Academic achievement The study recommended introducing the reciprocal Teaching Strategy in the teaching of Islamic Education Course, and conducting other similar studies in different educational stages.

This research attempted to explore the effects of divergent and convergent tasks on the successful reading of EFL students at the preparatory stage. To verify the analysis, the null hypothesis was established that states "There are no differences of statistical significance at the level of (0,05) among the mean of scores of the experimental group who study according to divergent and convergent task technique and the mean of the scores of the control group who study according to the regular method".  The experimental approach is used by designing two equivalent experimental groups of 32 students studying the technique proposed, and an 8-week (2019-2020) control group of 32 students, three classes each week using the Google Classroom Platform and Telegram. The present study utilized the platform Google Classroom (GC) and Telegram as an educational platform to assist students during their course learning process. The writing skills test was administered after checking with the experts. The results show that there are statistical differences at level (0,05) between the average of the experimental and control groups' reading skills and those of the experimental group. This difference is because the experimental group uses divergent and convergent tasks.

This evaluation is presented as part of the Effectiveness Review Series 2018/19 on women’s empowerment. The BASIC START (Building Autonomous and Stable Institutions and Communities through Socially Cohesive, Transparent, Accountable and Responsive Transition) in the Bangsamoro' project was carried out in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) in the Philippines between April 2015 and August 2017, by Oxfam together with four implementing partners: Al Mujadilah Development Foundation (AMDF), United Youth of the Philippines Women (UnYPhil-Women), Tarbilang Foundation, and Women Engaged in Action on 1325 (WE Act 1325). The project aimed to promote women's empowerment and peacebuilding in the region. A quasi-experimental approach was used to assess the impact of the project activities in strengthening women’s empowerment. The evaluation used Oxfam's Women's Empowerment (WE) index. Overall, the evaluation found that the BASIC START project had a positive impact on Women's Empowerment in all three levels investigated – personal, relational and environmental. A case study is made on the tack driving assembly of a boot and shoe lasting machine, and relates to the impact noise occurring during part of the machine cycle. Much of the noise is radiated due to vibrations at several frequencies of the tack driver lifting lever, which is excited by the direct application of impacts during the tack driving process. An experimental approach in applying noise reduction principles to various components of the assembly has been preferred to a more complex theoretical treatment, since the identification of the mechanism of impact noise generation and its subsequent abatement is directly relevant to most machine designers faced with the possibility of impact noise problems in other types of machinery. Small design changes, based on the knowledge gained from the experimental investigations, have resulted in noise reductions from 10 to 14 dB being achieved.

Abstract This study aims at exploring the phenomenon of psychological transportation in translation from an experimental approach. Firstly, we investigate whether the emotions depicted in source texts may influence the level of transportation experienced by translators. Secondly, we try to determine whether different levels of transportation in the texts can make a difference in terms of translation performance. Based on previous work about narrative transportation in products of fiction, as well as the phenomenon known as the “paradox of pleasurable sadness”, we depart from the hypothesis that sad texts lead to a higher degree of psychological transportation than happy texts (H1). Taking into account previous theories and empirical results about the benefits of visualization and emotional engagement in translation, we also predict that highly-transported participants will render higher-quality (H2) and more creative translations (H3) than low-transported participants. For this purpose, a pilot study was conducted consisting of two literary translation tasks with opposing-valence texts (happy vs. sad). Lack of statistically significant differences for our hypothesis suggests that some adjustments in the methodology would be needed to achieve conclusive results; however, we believe that further research on the impact of transportation in translation quality and creativity is still worthwhile.
