Summary Study aim: Was to investigate the relationship of anthropometrics with handgrip strength (HGS) among Nigerian school children.Material and methods: A total of 200 school children participated in this study. An electronic handgrip dynamometer was used to measure handgrip strength (HGS) in kg. Body height and body weight were measured with a wall-mounted stadiometer in meters and a bathroom weighing scale in kg, respectively. Body mass index (BMI) was then calculated using the formula weight (kg)/height (m2). Also, hand span of both hands was measured from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the small finger with the hand opened as wide as possible. The distance from the distal wrist crease up to the base of the middle finger was taken for palm length and the distal wrist crease to the tip of the middle finger was considered for the measurement of hand length. However, the relationship between HGS and anthropometric parameters was analyzed using Pearson’s product moment coefficient of correlation. Results: The outcome of this study showed that hand and palm length correlated disproportionately and insignificantly (p > 0.05) with both dominant and non-dominant HGS. Also, hand span was found to be a disproportionate correlate of HGS, though such a correlation was only significant (p < 0.05) with dominant HGS. However, BMI and handedness were observed to associate proportionately and significantly (p < 0.05) with HGS.Conclusion: This study therefore concluded that the most important determinants of HGS among Nigerian school children are BMI, handedness and hand span, and thus could be considered as markers of nutritional and health status, as well as physical fitness of these individuals.

Human beings perceive of the outside world by listening and reading skills; he also conveys his emotions, thoughts, dreams and impressions to his opponents with his speaking and writing skills. In other words, listening and reading comprehension, speaking and writing is the ability to explain. For this, developing reading, writing skills in primary school children is important. The relationship between this skills should be well understood and attention should be paid to these skills in education and training. This is a qualitative study trying to find out the students’ ability in applying the critical thinking skill while doing the TOEFL ITP reading test. The student participants were 140 university students in one of the private universities in Indonesia. In order to find out the answer, this research was firstly done by looking at the relationship of critical thinking and reading comprehension skill and investigating the level of students’ reading ability by contrasting their reading score to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The study found out that there was an inseparable connection between the students’ critical thinking skill and reading competence and that majority of the student participants were very weak in critical thinking and reading competence skills and so placed at the bottom level of the CEFR.

School children are the nation's next generation. Therefore, it is necessary to improve human resources from an early age. Providing good nutrition, will affect the growth and development of a child. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between eating and breakfast patterns and learning achievement of elementary school children. The type of research used is quantitative research with a literature study design. The literature used is literature published from 2013 to 2020. The results of data analysis show that there is a relationship between eating and breakfast patterns and learning achievement of elementary school children. The results of data analysis showed that there were 3 research locations, namely in Java 60% (6 articles), Sulawesi 30% (3 articles), Kalimantan 10% (1 article). Using correlation research 50%, analytic survey research 20%, and 30% other research. Data analysis was made in univariate and bivariate ways. The variables used in each study were diet, breakfast, and learning achievement. From this research, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between eating and breakfast patterns and learning achievement of elementary school children. So further research is expected to develop other factors that can affect student achievement.

Worm disease is a contagious disease and is a type of disease that is mostly experienced by children in Indonesia, which accounts for 80%. Personal hygiene, especially at the age of elementary school children, is very important, considering that at this age intestinal worm infections transmitted through the soil are very high. The aims of this study to determine the relationship of personal hygiene with the risk of helminthiasis in Elementry School. This research using quantitative with the type of research that is observational survey. The population in this study were all students of Elementry School and the sample of 77 peoples, the total sampling technique and method of collecting data by interviewing indirectly using a questionnaire sheet. The analysis of data is using chi-square then obtained a value of p = 0.037 <α = 0.05 there was a relationship between personal hygiene and the risk of worms. For this reason, it is hoped that the school will provide knowledge about personal hygiene such as every bath must use soap, wash hands with soap after defecation, wear footwear when playing outdoors, cut children's nails once a week, use clean drinking water, drink well-cooked water, not defecating in any place, providing latrines and clean water for school children to prevent worm infections.
