Social media have become key tools for promoting and spreading the image of a tourist destination. In particular, these communication channels are critical for heritage destinations looking to boost awareness and attract a greater number of visitors. However, the tourism marketing literature has devoted limited attention to how these destinations project their image on social media. In order to cover this gap, this chapter focuses on analyzing the image projected by a specific heritage destination—Cuenca, a World Heritage City—on Facebook and Instagram. To this end, the chapter analyzes the posts, comments, and hashtags that have been published on the different tourism pages about Cuenca. The results of the analysis underscore the growing importance of the image projected by destinations on social networks. That said, there is a need to deepen our knowledge about the communication potential of these channels.

<p>Fotografi dan pariwisata saat ini dianggap tidak dapat dipisahkan. Secara umum, tren yang terjadi dalam fotografi serta teknologinya telah berubah secara signifikan dan telah menjadi jauh lebih kompleks dan berbasis <em>online</em><em> media</em>. Media sosial dan beberapa jejaring sosial telah muncul sebagai suatu fenomena yang sebagai sumber informasi online baru yang dibuat, diinisiasi, diedarkan dan digunakan oleh konsumen yang bermaksud untuk mendidik satu sama lain tentang produk, merek, layanan, kepribadian, dan masal. Pembahasan dalam penelitian ini adalah tentang <em>travel selfie</em> sebagai media alternatif promosi destinasi wisata. Obyek penelitian ini berdasarkan fenomena kebun bunga di sepanjang pinggir Jalan Jalur Lintas Selatan(JJLS) Desa Srigading, Kecamatan Sanden, Kabupaten Bantul, Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data yang akan dianalisis adalah hasil <em>interview</em> pengunjung dan pemilik kebun bunga. Juga dilakukan pengamatan foto-foto yang muncul di media sosial untuk melihat respon terhadap obyek wisata tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kategori paling populer terhadap suatu citra destinasi, dan selanjutnya analisa deskripsi dilakukan untuk mendapatkan model bahwa <em>travel selfie</em>dianggap sebagai elemen yang lebih penting untuk media alternatif destinasi wisata.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Kata Kunci: </strong>travel selfie, social media, destination image</p><p> </p><p> </p><p align="center"><strong><em>ABSTRACT</em></strong><strong><em>:</em></strong><em></em></p><h5><em>Photography and tourism are now considered inseparable. In general, trends in photography and technology have changed significantly and have become much more complex and online-based media. Social media and social networks have emerged as a phenomenon as a new source of online information created, initiated, circulated and used by consumers who intend to educate each other about products, brands, services, personalities, and the masses. The discussion in this study is about travel selfie as an alternative media promotion of tourist destinations. The object of this research is based on flower garden phenomenon along the edge of Jalan Jalur Lintas Selatan (JJLS) of Desa Srigading, Kecamatan Sanden, Kabupaten Bantul, Yogyakarta. This research uses qualitative approach with case study method. The data to be analyzed is the result of interviews of visitors and flower garden owners. Also observed photographs appearing on social media to see the response to these attractions. The explosion of content generated by users, in parallel with the spectacular growth of social media and the proliferation of mobile devices, is causing a paradigm shift in research. Surveys or interviews are no longer necessary to obtain users’ opinions, because researchers can get this information freely on social media. In the field of tourism, online travel reviews (OTRs) hosted on travel-related websites stand out. The objective of this article is to demonstrate the usefulness of OTRs to analyse the image of a tourist destination. For this, a theoretical and methodological framework is defined, as well as metrics that allow for measuring different aspects (designative, appraisive and prescriptive) of the tourist image. The model is applied to the region of Attica (Greece) through a random sample of 300,000 TripAdvisor OTRs about attractions, activities, restaurants and hotels written in English between 2013 and 2018. The results show trends, preferences, assessments, and opinions from the demand side, which can be useful for destination managers in optimising the distribution of available resources and promoting sustainability.

Tourists use social media to share their experiences and obtain information about travel and tourism destinations. Information shared by tourists is different than information published by destination marketing organizations (DMOs) in the sense that it does not include formal messages and photographs. Some researchers have proven that user-generated content (UGC) through social media exerts an influence on the perceived image of a tourist destination and the motivations for visiting it. Tourists and travelers tend to use a combination of official and unofficial information to make travel decisions. Nowadays, there are still plenty of opportunities to advance destination image research using social media. With these ideas in mind, this chapter aims to review different types of Web 2.0 platforms and discuss their influence on destination image formation and sustainability perception.

This article deals with the “Don Valley” the territorial cluster tourist destination media promotion specifics and such a tourist product as the enotours. The authors allocate the features of enological tourism promotion in the region. Structural changes in the tourism industry led to search for new forms of promotion of both traditional directions of tourism and the new tourist products. The pandemic 2020 largely paralyzed the tourist industry while the state measures taken to support this industry are insufficient. There is a need to make active use of all available resources to support tourism and the media resource in particular. The media promotion specifics of the “Don Valley” tourist destination of the territorial cluster have been investigated within the study, existing problems were identified and approaches were developed to solve them. The media promotion today is a promising method for promoting the tourist product. The social media usage problems in terms of promoting the wine tours and developing the “Don Valley” enogastronomic tourism of the territorial cluster are identified. The algorithm of work in a media space allowing attractivation of enological tourism, wine tours promotion, as well as solving some tasks to restore the tourist sector in the region, has been conceived.

Jatim Park 3 is a tourist destination in Batu City with the concept of a blend of tourism and education. There are several rides in Jatim Park 3, namely; Dino Park, Indonesian Music Gallery, Fun Tech Plaza, 6D Cinema, etc. Social media marketing trends are also found in the tourism industry in Indonesia and Jawa Timur Park 3 is a new place of entertainment and education in Batu Tourism City which is not yet widely known by the general public, considering that this tourist spot was only inaugurated in November 2017. So that JTP 3 needs to be vigorous to carry out marketing activities to introduce its products to the wider community. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of social media marketing, Brand Equity and destination image on visiting interests. The population in this study were all followers of Jatim Park 3 social media accounts in the form of facebook, by taking a sample of 150 people. Multiple linear regression and hypothesis testing are the analytical methods used, and the results of the research show that social media marketing influences visiting interests. Brand Equity / Brand Equity affects the interest in visiting. Destination image has no significant effect on visiting interest.

Abstract. Knowledge exchange via social media is crucial for organizational success. Yet, many employees only read others’ contributions without actively contributing their knowledge. We thus examined predictors of the willingness to contribute knowledge. Applying social identity theory and expectancy theory to knowledge exchange, we investigated the interplay of users’ identification with their organization and perceived usefulness of a social media tool. In two studies, identification facilitated users’ willingness to contribute knowledge – provided that the social media tool seemed useful (vs. not-useful). Interestingly, identification also raised the importance of acquiring knowledge collectively, which could in turn compensate for low usefulness of the tool. Hence, considering both social and media factors is crucial to enhance employees’ willingness to share knowledge via social media.
