It gives me very sincere pleasure to be able to offer you undeniable confirmation of the justice of my views respecting the Runic Obelisk at Ruthwell. I would not, indeed, have you suppose that I ever entertained the slightest doubt of having seized the general sense of the inscription; but, taking into consideration the fragmentary state of the legend itself, as well as the abrasion of many characters, which justified, indeed rendered necessary, a somewhat bold method of proceeding, I could not venture to hope that I had entirely escaped errors, which are in some degree inseparable from conjectural criticism. From the peculiar form of the Runic characters, which consist principally of straight lines and angles, they are especially liable to confusion when the slightest portion is abraded by age: and this is the case with the Ruthwell inscription in a very great degree. The task of restoring readings so injured by lapse of time, though not a hopeless, might fairly be considered a difficult one; and in this conviction, I was prepared to admit the probability that better versions than my own might at some time be substantiated. Circumstances have, however, now placed within my reach a complete, though modern, copy of the whole inscription, parts of which it cost me so much serious labour to decypher: and it is highly satisfactory to discover that in almost all the details of interpretation, I was proceeding upon sound and safe grounds. This naturally affords a gratification of a far higher character than the mere selfish pleasure derived from any personal feeling: and it is in the hope that some of your readers may be induced to bestow attention upon a system whose results are so strongly confirmed by further experience, that I again bring the subject before your notice.

Covid-19 is an unprecedented crisis that has affected almost all industry players including education. It has transformed our way of life and introduced a new normal to how things are done. As an effort to contain the outbreak of pandemic Covid-19, universities have shifted to online learning. In line with this, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has decided to execute open and distance learning (ODL) for the current semester until 31 December 2020. ODL introduces a different learning environment as compared to the traditional classroom that requires students to be self-reliant in learning new things. Hence, the purpose of the study is to explore students’ experiences in the process of knowledge transfer through ODL specifically for accounting subjects. A questionnaire was distributed to students who were taking the subject of Introduction to Financial Accounting and Introduction to Cost Accounting in UiTM Pahang Kampus Raub and a total of 206 responses were received. The study found over half of the students enjoy learning through ODL but only one-third were looking forward to having ODL for the next semester. Poor internet connection is the main reason found in the study that makes ODL not preferred by the students. At the same time, few features were highlighted by the students about ODL such as the advantage of pre-recorded video to catch up the new material and flexibility for them to learn at their own pace.

As the rare descent of Meteorites or Aërolites affords us the only real tangible evidence we possess respecting the mineral constituents which exist beyond the limits of our own globe, a great degree of interest must always be attached to these stray visitors ; and although much has been written on the subject at different times, it has hitherto taken the form either of a bare catalogue of the date and place of occurrence ; or of scattered notices dealing only with individual cases. My desire is to collect these various records as far as they relate to each meteoric stone which has been known, or has been said to have fallen in Great Britain, and to endeavour to give as complete an account as possible of every instance; including not only the historical facts, but also notices Of mineralogical observations and references to authorities.

The time specific character of the subject matter is an opportunity for future longitudinal research.Practical implications – Presently de-mergers are creating enormous wealth for shareholders. It is because of the negative synergy. Due to the demerger this negative synergy is removed and the value is unlocked. However, Investors should differentiate between genuine attempts at value creation and de-mergers undertaken to create hype around the stocks. Stay away from dubious companies that want to manipulate prices. Investors should focus on the quality of management and corporate governance record of the companyOriginality/value – The study is the first of its kind and hence original in nature.Article Type: Research paperKeyword(s): Demerger, Demerged Company, Resultant Company, Negative Synergy, Shareholders Wealth.

In the last couple of years, with the prolification of the Migrant Crisis and the defeat of the Islamic State, the return of the foreign fighters, who went form Europe to the Caliphate and joined the local conflict, as well as the problem of the homegrown terrorism have become the focal point of almost all national security strategies of European countries. The situation that followed drove the authors to set the possible approaches to solving this challenge to European security as a goal for their research. The subject of this article encompasses the process of deradicalization, as the only humane way to deal with the problem at hand, as well as the process of radicalization, as necessary for understanding the formation of the individuals that pose a threat to the security of Europe. The article also tackles the preventive work directed at those social groups that are deemed susceptible to radicalization, as well as the use of individualized and holistic approach to the radicalized individuals. Special consideration is given to the programs of deradicalization as a form of institutionalized way of dealing with this type of a security risk. In the conclusion the authors give their own view of what is the most adeqaute approach when working with radicalized individuals and the role of certain elements of society in it.

The right to work has been recognized as a fundamental human right in almost all international human rights documents and in the constitutions of many countries. This right has been recognized and guaranteed as a fundamental human right also in the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey. However, not only recognizing and guaranteeing "work" as a fundamental human right but also regulating its implementation and functioning within the framework of laws is of great importance. The concept of overwork is a concept that has been mentioned in the Labor Law regarding the implementation and functioning of the concept of work and it is regulated in our Labor Law No. 4857. In order to talk about overwork, a limited working time is required. In this context, upon determining the maximum number of hours a worker can work per week by drawing a limit on working hours in Labor Law No. 4857, overwork, which is the subject of work exceeding this period, is defined. Furthermore, the types of overwork that arise depending on the reasons for overworking, as well as the jobs that cannot be overworked, are regulated in the same Law.

Security is one of the most common terms in the modern world. This statement is supported by the fact that the term security is used in a wide range of areas. The subject of this paper is national security and the challenges, risks and threats to that security in contemporary international relations. The purpose of the work is twofold. First, to show the diversity of theoretical understanding of the term challenge, risk and threat by various authors. On the other hand, the overriding goal is to analyze the relationship to the challenges, risks and threats in different countries. When it comes to national security, challenges, risks and threats, most often, are identified in a document called the national security strategy. This document, as one of the highest in the hierarchy of political acts of every state, when it comes to security, is passed by almost all modern states of the world. The analysis of numerous national security strategies has revealed that it is possible to identify: 1) the challenges, risks and threats that appear in all strategies, 2) the challenges, risks and threats of security that appear in most strategies, and 3) the challenges, risks and threats of security which are country specific.

Slade's Case is of such significance in the history of the common law that it has, quite properly, been the subject of more scrutiny and discussion in recent years than any other case of the same age. The foundation of all this discussion has been Coke's report, which is the only full report in print. The accuracy and completeness of Coke's version have hardly been challenged, and the discussions have assumed that it contains almost all there is to know about the case. This assumption must be discarded if we are to understand the contemporary significance of the case.

The paper presents the issues related to the green economy in the agricultural sector. In order to discuss it, an analysis of the subject literature was carried out and some selected statistical data describing the process of greening of agriculture were presented. The timeframe of the analysis covered the years 2010-2015. The GUS and Eurostat were the source of the used values. Studies have shown that almost all EU countries have increased the area of organic agricultural land in the surveyed period (except for Great Britain). In addition, the article presents the results of pilot studies conducted in the Lodz Region, aimed at diagnosing key barriers to the development of the green economy in rural areas. According to the research, the insufficient level of knowledge of farmers in this area is an important obstacle to building a green economy in rural areas.

Sugar was a topic of interest for the Spanish online press during 2017 and 2018. This is demonstrated by the 245 texts that were published in five online newspapers: abc.es, elpais.com, elconfidencial.com, eldiario.es, and lavanguardia.com. This study focuses on a comparative analysis of the informational treatment, relevance, themes, frames, comments, and stylistic resources that each of these media displayed. The quantification and evolution of the content corroborate that this topic is consolidated on the news agenda of the media and has been evolving towards the themes of Nutrition/Health, to the detriment of content in the field of Economy/Politics. Looking at the most relevant frames, nuances are observed in each of the newspapers studied. When the subject of sugar is approached from an economic or political angle, all the media highlight the frame of solutions/measures, whether they be corporate or institutional. However, abc.es and lavanguardia.com also place emphasis on the Conflict frameworks, which is hardly relevant for the rest. The emphasis is placed on the Evidence/Revelation frameworks in the texts about Nutrition/Health, except again for abc.es, which prioritized the Consequences frameworks. Almost all the newspapers use resources close to service journalism, and a pedagogical vocation emerges from the headlines. Above all, abc.es and (to a lesser extent) elconfidencial.com use a more informative tone. Readers’ comments are very scarce despite the tone of complaint and alarm of much of the content, focusing on Nutrition/Health issues, on elpais.com and eldiario.es.
