Abstract. Background: Few investigations of patient perceptions of suicide prevention interventions exist, limiting our understanding of the processes and components of treatment that may be engaging and effective for high suicide-risk patients. Aims: Building on promising quantitative data that showed that adjunct mindfulness-based cognitive therapy to prevent suicidal behavior (MBCT-S) reduced suicidal thinking and depression among high suicide-risk patients, we subjected MBCT-S to qualitative inspection by patient participants. Method: Data were provided by 15 patients who completed MBCT-S during a focus group and/or via a survey. Qualitative data were coded using thematic analysis. Themes were summarized using descriptive analysis. Results: Most patients viewed the intervention as acceptable and feasible. Patients attributed MBCT-S treatment engagement and clinical improvement to improved emotion regulation. A minority of patients indicated that factors related to the group treatment modality were helpful. A small percentage of patients found that aspects of the treatment increased emotional distress and triggered suicidal thinking. These experiences, however, were described as fleeting and were not linked to suicidal behavior. Limitations: The sample size was small. Conclusion: Information gathered from this study may assist in refining MBCT-S and treatments to prevent suicidal behavior among high suicide-risk patients generally.

Abstract Objective: This paper will emphasize the necessity to improve education about pain, its close relationship with suicide, and effective suicide screening as well as management strategies for medical providers. Methods: A review of the relevant literature. Results: Chronic pain is a debilitating medical condition affecting a significant percentage of the population worldwide. Considerable evidence suggests that pain is an independent risk factor for suicide and inadequately managing pain has been identified as a risk for suicidal behavior. Additionally, medications used to treat pain may also contribute to suicidal behavior. Extensive research on pain highlights deficiencies in the clinical management of pain with more gaps in care when patients have pain in combination with mental illness and suicidal behavior. Conclusion: Providing trainees with additional knowledge and equipping them with relevant tools to screen and manage chronic pain efficiently is a potential strategy to mitigate suicide risk. Also, trainees need to be educated on how to screen for suicidality in individuals with pain and apply suicide prevention interventions. With additional research, it is the hope that novel treatment modalities will be developed to treat pain to improve the quality of life of individuals suffering from this condition and to decrease suicide risk in this patient population.

IntroductionSuicidality is still an understudied problem in Bulgaria especially on a subnational (regional) level.ObjectivesTo collect data on suicidality in two major regions of Bulgaria with a population over 250,000 each (Plovdiv and Pleven) for a six years period (2009–2015).AimsTo analyze demographic, health-related and other characteristics associated with suicidal behavior as well as motives and methods of suicide.MethodsData were extracted from relevant documentation (medical records, public health reports, etc.) and statistically processed upon collection.ResultsMajority of suicide victims were males between 45 and 64 years while most suicide attempts occurred among 18–29 years old females.Leading method of suicide was hanging, followed by jumping from high places and use of firearm.Prevailing suicidal motives were psychotic symptoms, serious somatic illnesses and family problems. Depression accounted for 25% of all suicide cases and in another 25% motivation could not be identified because of insufficient data. The proportion of unemployed among suicide committers was not significantly higher than that of employed and retired.ConclusionsSevere mental disorders are a major trigger of suicidal behavior.Personal relationships should be targeted by suicide prevention interventions.Somatic illnesses are increasingly important suicide risk factor driven by the ongoing process of population aging.Frontline healthcare professionals should be trained to explore underlying suicidal motives and actively probe for depression in each case of suicidal behavior.Unemployment related suicide risk is most likely mediated through an adaptation crisis mechanism induced by the abrupt change of social status.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Suicide is a global health issue accounting for at least 800,000 deaths per annum. Numerous models have been proposed that differ in their emphasis on the role of psychological, social, psychiatric and neurobiological factors in explaining suicide risk. Central to many models is a stress-diathesis component which states that suicidal behavior is the result of an interaction between acutely stressful events and a susceptibility to suicidal behavior (a diathesis). This article presents an overview of studies that demonstrate that stress and dysregulated hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis activity, as measured by cortisol levels, are important additional risk factors for suicide. Evidence for other putative stress-related suicide risk factors including childhood trauma, impaired executive function, impulsivity and disrupted sleep are considered together with the impact of family history of suicide, perinatal and epigenetic influences on suicide risk.

The objective of this research is to describe the presence of synergy between the fatwa Commission of MUI of North Maluku and other fatwa institutions within Islamic organisations in issuing a fatwa on the deviation of Ja’fariya Shi’ism of Nawawi Husni (Ong). This is also to identify factors which lead to the synergy, and conversely, other obstacles that did not lead them to synergy. The research applied qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. The qualitative data is collected by using techniques of interview, documentary study, and library inquiry. The case of the study is the fatwa of MUI of North Maluku, No. 45, Year 2015 on the deviation of teaching spread by Nawawi Husni (Ong) on behalf of Ja’fariya Shi’ism. The research discovers that there was no synergy between the fatwa Commission of MUI of North Maluku and other fatwa institutions within Islamic organisations. The fatwa Commission of MUI of North Maluku did not officially involve other fatwa institutions within Islamic organisations when discussing the draft of the fatwa, well in fact, they were usually involved in the previous meetings before the idea whether the MUI need to issue a fatwa or not. This includes several factors such as 1) the emergency situation as the inter-citizen conflict had emerged; 2) it was not easy to coordinate with other fatwa institutions; 3) the have been representatives of Islamic organisations in the board of MUI of the Province of North Maluku

Transnational crime in the territory of Indonesia is increasingly motivated by several pushes and pull factors. First, Indonesia's strategic position makes many people tempted to anchor to Indonesia to make Indonesia a transit country and live and develop. This is worrying because it cannot be denied that foreigners enter a country in an illegal way and cross borders. Second, state borders without immigration documents or other valid documents will create new problems, which of course, can lead to criminal issues. Of course, a policy of equitable borders and controls is the answer to this problem.Another thing that cannot be left out is that establishing a positive law that is firm and binding is the key to the success of this policy. This research study uses normative legal research methods with qualitative data collection juxtaposed with descriptive analysis techniques so that the existing problems regarding transnational crimes, especially human smuggling, can be presented comprehensively and informatively. Outreach to the community as the first informant is one of the keys to community-based surveillance and enforcement management. It is hoped that with the coordination and synergy of problems related to foreign nationals who are the perpetrators of human smuggling crimes, it is expected that it can decrease statistically so that the selective policy principle that is aspired is that only foreigners who provide benefits and have valid documents can enter Indonesian territory and give services to Indonesia's national progress.

Dear producers and consumers of knowledge, I would like to share the happiness of being with you again with 9th Volume 1th first issue of Pegem Journal of Education and Instruction (PEGEGOG) in 2019. I hope you could find time to have a rest after your busy schedule. Initially, I want to thank you for the increasing interest for our journal. There has been 98 articles sent for publication to our journal. This is good news for our journal. On the other hand, I have to indicate that there were critical problems in terms of format within these articles as stated in the previous issue. First of all, unfortunately we had to reject some articles as in many of them there were texts very similar to ones in different articles. At first step, we scan all articles in i-Thenticate program to determine the exact quotations from other resources. After this scan, we reject the articles detected to have exact quotations at a high rate without initiating peer-review process. Apart from that, we also send back the articles not written in an academic format not to disturb our reviewers unnecessarily. One of the problems with the articles submitted to our journal and we had to reject was about data analysis. The data is the raw information collected from related resources through research aims. These should be analyzed in parallel with these aims. It is necessary to analyze them using statistics for quantitative data and methods such as content analysis or descriptive analysis for qualitative data. Analysis provides the data being transformed into findings and make sense. Especially, in some of document analysis and some qualitative studies, it is seen that data are presented as findings. In some others, data are presented being only described. It is essential that the studies are formed in an article format obeying the rules by the journal and presented for publication afterwards. As always, we present the ten articles got through peer-review process and given DOI number to you dear producers and consumers of knowledge. I wish these studies conducted in various fields of educational sciences will be useful and contribute to theoretical knowledge within the field. Hope to meet within the next issue. Sincerely yours,
