The essays in this dossier are the result of the course  “Interreligious and intercultural dialogue from a decolonial perspective”, which took place between May and June 2017 at the CEIICH in the UNAM. In this course, I proposed to link a decolonial theoretical perspective to the topic of “intercultural dialogue” and, beyond, to “interreligious dialogue”; anyhow, this last topic turned out to be the point of departure to explore more profound dialogues, linked no only to religious phenomena but to sacred traditions and spiritualities. During the course, emphasis was put on this last aspect due to the fact that the topic of “the Divine” (in its different expressions), although central to decoloniality, has been poorly studied. Moreover, it has been marginalized within secularized social sciences —and this not just in Mexico, but in most occidentalized universities throughout the globe. This vacuum towards the study of “the Divine” —and, beyond, its limitation through a concept of culture (which is, at the same time, associated to the colonized and to the “other” of modernity)— led the participants of this volume to research deeper that which philosopher Enrique Dussel has described as the “spaces denied and oppressed by modernity”.

National culture is determined primarily by the fact that each of its individuals shares the beliefs and values that are inherent in a particular territory. At the same time, global economic and technological exchange form an environment that al-lows people to participate in cultural exchange and expand the boundaries of national culture or limit the penetration of foreign language culture into society. The relevance of the study is determined by the fact that the formation of national cul-ture is possible and as a protective mechanism for identifying one's identity. The aim of the article is to reveal the features of the formation of national culture with-in the framework of integration associations and integration into the structure of social development. The authors conducted an analysis of the essence of geocul-ture, generalized interpretations of the concept of "strategy", and proposed a defi-nition of the category "geocultural strategy". Geo-culture is determined by the main factor in the development of intercultural dialogue on the platform of economic, social and legal discourse.

The article focuses on promoting intercultural cooperation and strengthening international community on the example of UNESCO World Heritage sites, inscribed into the World Heritage List that is being formed on the basis of the World Heritage Convention of 1972. UNESCO is a universal intergovernmental UN structure responsible for international cooperation in the sphere of education, science, culture and communication. One of the main activities of the Organization is the world heritage conservation and intercultural dialogue. The article analyzes the UNESCO role in the geopolitical architectonics of Eurasia in which the World Heritage gains a qualitatively new meaning. In the context of a sustainable development the integration of promoting intercultural interaction and heritage safeguarding becomes particularly urgent. The article deals with several initiatives aimed at enhancing the cultural component of the Eurasian integration, including the goals and perspectives of discussion platforms set up for experience exchange in the sphere of World Heritage sites’ conservation and their management. The article seeks to identify the most important challenges and goals of the cooperation strategy between UNESCO and the institutions concerned in the field of the intercultural dialogue promotion in the Eurasian area that seems to be very important both for Russia and the CIS countries, and for the perspectives of the emerging global civilization of the future

Abstract Cultural translation phenomena are per se an intercultural product. Exchange and interaction take place every day in our globalized world. Especially with respect to music, a translational perspective can broaden the horizon of research projects in a very fruitful way. Music always combines elements from different cultures, periods and styles and can, in that way, serve as a medium of intercultural dialogue, which affects the participants of the dialogue not only on a rational, but also on an emotional level – and helps to cross borders and build bridges between different cultures. In my analysis, I take a look at the legacy of the Beatles and how it is performatively unfolded by the Spanish-Chilean band the Recalls, based in Germany. Different cultures intermingle in such appropriation and show a joyful (postmodern) handling to create a very special, discrete type of music and self-staging. Thus, music as a product of intercultural dialogue can become a chance for a successful interaction between different cultures.

Em um contexto de agravamento dos desafios ecológicos, o artigo busca investigar a contribuição de modelos ecológicos adotados por países andinos, mais especificamente do Equador e da Bolívia – “Bem viver” ou “Viver bem” – considerando que vêm sendo apresentados como proposta à construção adaptada de um modelo de Estado Ecológico de Direito no ordenamento jurídico brasileiro.  Realizou-se revisão bibliográfica, com pesquisa qualitativa de abordagem puramente teórica e propósito exploratório, a fim de demonstrar a base essencialmente cultural dos modelos que estruturam o giro biocêntrico no novo constitucionalismo latino-americano. Demonstra-se necessidade de cautela na importação de tais modelos, uma vez que possuem bases estruturais e realidades culturais, sociais e políticas distintas das verificadas no Brasil. Finaliza-se com ênfase ao diálogo intercultural na superação de desafios e refundação da realidade ambiental no país, avançando em direção à concepção de um Estado Ecológico de Direito brasileiro. In a context of aggravating ecological challenges, the article seeks to investigate the contribution of ecological models adopted by Andean countries, more specifically from Ecuador and Bolivia - “Well live” or “Live well” - considering that they have been presented as a proposal to the adapted construction of an ecological law model in the Brazilian legal system. A bibliographic review was carried out, with qualitative research, a purely theoretical approach and exploratory purpose in order to demonstrate the cultural basis that structure the biocentric perspective in the new Latin American constitucionalism. It demonstrates the need for caution in the importation of such models, since they have structural bases and cultural, social and political realities different from those verified in Brazil. It finalizes with an emphasis on intercultural dialogue in overcoming challenges and rebuilding the environmental reality in the country, moving towards the concept of an Ecological State of Brazilian Law.

Intercultural communication involves verbal and nonverbal messages. The communication process is conducted not only by means of verbal messages but also by other elements that constitute body language. This process becomes significantly more complicated when cultural contexts are also taken into account. A message which is unambiguously understood and interpreted by the representatives of one culture may have quite a different interpretation in other cultures. It is therefore highly important to take cultural context into consideration during business talks. Being ignorant of this aspect can significantly impact the results of negotiations. Are we doomed to failure caused by cultural differentiation, then? Is the cultural aspect of communication an insurmountable barrier? Certainly not. It is obvious in talks with foreigners that one cannot avoid mistakes and misunderstandings resulting from the inaccurate interpretation of words and gestures. During a time of globalization, mergers and takeovers, intercultural communication is unavoidable. Every new intercultural dialogue brings new experiences and reduces the risk of faux pas based on cultural differences.
