When feeding 30-180-day old calves with mineral sorbent vodnite, the number of red blood cells increases by 4.17% (p≤0.05), the hemoglobin level increases by 9.4% (p≤0.05), total protein content by 6.44% (p≤0.01), albumin content by 4.60% (p≤0.001), the phagocytic activity of leukocytes by 12.42% (p≤0.05), the bactericidal activity by 6.47% (p≤0.05), the lysozyme activity by 10% (p≤0.05), the average daily weight gain of calves by 7.4%, the live weight by 7.6% (p≤0.01). In fresh cows fed with vodnite, physical and biochemical characteristic improve and the gross milk yield increases by 45–84 kg (p<0.05). Vodnite used for cattle increases the genetic productivity.

Abstract(An experiment with two groups of East Balkan pigs – castrated males (n=10) and females (n=10), was carried out to study the growth performance and fattening abilities of the animals from the weaning until slaughter. The pigs were included in the trial at 60 day age. The average live weight of the castrated males was 8. 65±1.08 kg and for the females, 8.5±0.62 kg.The pigs were reared using traditional technology, grazing on natural pastures in the Strandzha mountain, Bulgaria. In autumn, acorns were naturally present in their diet. According to the category, the animals additionally received ground organic feed (50% barley and 50% wheat). The trial lasted 304 days (from February to November, 2019). During this period the final live weight of the male castrated pigs reached 88.00 kg while that of the females was 84.4 kg. The difference, however, was not significant. Furthermore, no significant differences in the growth performance characteristics that could be attributed to the sex of the animals were observed. The average daily gain of both sexes tended to be lower in summer and higher in autumn. The feed conversion ratio was higher in summer. The animals showed high average daily weight gain at pasture when their live weight was over 50 kg.

A 42-day feeding trial was conducted to investigate the performance characteristics and cost benefit of feeding weaner rabbits cashew nut residue (CNR) based diets. Three dietary treatments containing: 0.10 and 20% CNR at the expense of maize on a weight for weight basis were used. Eighteen weaner rabbits (mixed breeds and sexes) were randomly divided into three groups of six rabbits each in a completely randomized design (CRD). The average daily weight gain, average daily feed intake and feed conversion ratio were not significantly influenced (P>0.05) by the dietary treatments. But rabbits fed 10% CNR based diet had the highest values for average daily weight gain and average daily feed intake while rabbits fed the control diet (0% CNR) had the least value for feed conversion ratio. No mortality was recorded for all the dietary treatments. The feed cost/kg diet (₦), feed cost/kg live weight gain (₦/kg) and cost of feed consumed/day (₦) decreased steadily with increasing level of cashew nut residue meal. The saving on feed cost (%) was not significantly affected (P>0.05) by the dietary treatments, but increased across the groups. However, the saving on feed to produce 1kg live weight was significantly (P<0.05) influenced by the CNR based diets. Rabbits fed 10% CNR based diet had the highest value of 9.66% than their counterparts fed other diets. It is concluded that cashew nut residue could be incorporated into rabbit diet at 10% without compromising the performance

Growth and reproductive performance traits are traits of economic importance for sheep selection and productivity improvement interventions. This study aimed at comparative evaluation of growth and reproductive performance traits of sheep in the highland and lowland agro-ecologies of northwestern Ethiopia. Data on growth performance traits were collected from 144 Washera (78 males and 66 females) lambs and 72 Gumuz (37 males and 35 females) lambs. Data on reproductive performance traits were collected from 260 Washera (130 rams and 130 ewes) sheep and 150 Gumuz (75 rams and 75 ewes) sheep. General linear model univariate procedure was employed to analyze the collected data. Breed, the interaction effect between breed and season of birth as well as the interaction effect between breed and type of birth all exerted very high significant effect (P<0.001) on live weight at all age groups. Breed type affected pre-weaning average daily weight gain significantly (P<0.01). Pre-weaning average daily weight gain of Washera (70 g/day) was found much better performance than 60 g/day of Gumuz. Breed type exerts significant (P<0.05) effect on age at first lambing, lambing interval, annual reproductive rate and number of lambs born per ewe life time. Average age at first lambing and lambing interval of Washera sheep were 11.69 months and 9.27 months, respectively. The corresponding values for Gumuz sheep were 12.51 months and 10.43 months, respectively. Production and reproduction performance values of traits varied across the two breeds and sexes as well. These values can be used to set up breeding objectives or goals for selective breeding of sheep giving special emphasis to growth traits believed to have medium heritability values.

In the Sverdlovsk region Holsteinized Black Pied cattle of the Ural type are bred which are represented by large, highly productive animals with a high genetic potential for productivity. Great importance is attached to the rearing replacement calves. The aim of the study was to study the dynamics of the live weight of replacement heifers from different seed bulls during rearing and its dependency on the age of the first insemination. The highest average daily weight gains were in the dairy period of heifers development, they ranged from 989 g for the daughters of the bull Thunderline to 1054 g for their peers from the bull Maximum. There were also high average daily gains during this period when rearing heifers from the bull Renigend. In the second period of rearing from 6 to 10 months of age there was a decrease in the average daily weight gain in all groups. Heifers from different seed bulls reach the required live weight for the first insemination at different ages. Maximum’s daughters, which had the weight of 399.4 kg at the age of 12.9 months. reached the required live weight most quickly. Their peers from other seed bulls reached the aforementioned live weight only at the age of 13.7 months.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the growth rate and selected carcass and meat quality parameters in bulls fed a high-grain diet and to compare the results with those obtained in bulls fed a diet based on preserved roughage. The trial included 18 Czech-Pied bulls fed a diet with a high proportion of concentrated feed and 18 Czech-Pied bulls fed a diet based on maize silage, used as a control group. The trial was launched after the weaning of calves. During the fattening period, live weight and average daily weight gain were monitored. The bulls were slaughtered at the live weight of 550–600 kg, the mean age at slaughter was 473 days for the high-grain diet group and 474 days for the control group. The carcasses were classified to SEUROP quality grades, and carcass gain and dressing percentage were calculated. Samples of <I>m. longissimus pars thoracis</I> were taken from five bulls in each group to examine selected meat quality parameters. In the period from weaning to slaughter the high-grain diet bulls and the control bulls achieved the average daily weight gain of 1.29 kg and 1.21 kg, respectively. Differences between the groups were not significant. The high-grain diet group showed higher average carcass weight and higher carcass weight gain, differences between the groups were not significant, either. As to meat quality parameters under study, a significant difference was found only in meat lightness (L*), with the mean value in the high-grain diet group being significantly (<I>P</I> ≤ 0.01) lower than in the control group. The other meat quality parameters did not show any significant differences between the groups. In this study, the high-grain diet gave similar performance as the maize silage-based diet in fattening bulls. The high-grain diet group and control group showed comparable average daily weight gain and selected carcass and meat quality parameters.

The study assessed the effect on performance and serum metabolites of ninety grower pigs fed extruded full-fat soyabean meal (ESBM) and cottonseed cake (CSC) as partial (-50%) and whole (100%) replacement  for groundnut cake (GNC) in practical-type  diets over 12 weeks feeding period. Ninety Large White X Landrace pigs average initial live weight of 30.50+1.4kg were randomly assigned to five dietary treatments and each treatment had three replicates The diets were iso-nitrogenous and iso-caloric. The ESBM in the diets showed an  improvement in average daily weight gain and eed conversion. Diet in which there was 50%replacement of GNC with ESBM gave the best  result (P<0.05). However, general trend showed a numerical increase with levels of ESBM and CSC in the diets. Serum albumin  and cholesterol levels were significantly (P<0.05) reduced by inclusion of extruded full-fat soyabean meal, and CSC while serum creatinine level was increased.

Against the background of the use of a probiotic feed additive at a rate of 0.3 g/kg and 0.4 g/kg of fodder, in experimental calves, compared with the controlanalogs, there was a significant increase in the average daily weight gain on the 15th day of the experiment by 4.60-4.90%, on the 30th day - by 5.87 - 6.34%, on the 60th day - by 7.48 - 7.81%, in the blood of animals the number of red blood cells increased by 3.69 - 4.54%, leukocytes - by 1.48 - 1.75%, hemoglobin - by 6.39 - 7.59%, in blood serum the level of total protein - by 3.28 - 3.31% (P<0.05), albumin - by 2.08 - 2.69% (P<0.05), globulins - by 3.70 - 4.20% (P<0.05), gamma globulins - by 12.41 - 12.91 % (P<0.01). Introduction to the diet of calves of the specified probiotic feed additive promoted a slight increase of immunoglobulins A in blood serum in the experimental calves, in relation to the control analogues, in both experimental groups of animals by 5.00% (P<0.05), immunoglobulins M - by 4.43 - 5.64% (P<0.01), immunoglobulins G - by 5.69 - 5.90% (P<0.05), increasing the preservation of calves - by 3.22 - 3.69% (P<0.05).

In this paper are presented the growth performances (live weight, average daily weight gain, feed consumption and feed conversion ratio) of broilers Hybro G+ provenience. Feeding, zoohygienic and zootechnical measures met technological normative for this provenience. Broilers were fed with the complete feed mixtures (producer ?Dren?, Novi Sad) with added anticoccidial salinomycine in the amount of 66 mg/kg up to 35. day of fattening. In last week of the fattening period, salinomycine was not added (drug waiting period is 5 days). Live weight of broilers at the end of trial was 1959.74 g to 2750.48 g (average 2340.62 g). During the fattening period, average daily weight gain was 54.70 ? 5.03 g; it was in the range 45.71-64.39 g. Average daily feed consumption was 87.97 g for all fattening period and feed conversion ratio was 87.97 g.

The rams of the Askanian meat-wool breed, grown and kept in the conditions of the steppe zone of the south of Ukraine, were investigated for their adaptive capacity and adaptation to the conditions of the lowland regions of Zakarpattja. It was found that the physiological response of the rams to the maximum air temperature was characterized by a slight increase in body temperature and pulse, and a significant increase in respiratory rate per 1 minute. The good adaptive properties of the Askanian meat and wool breed rams are indicated by the high breeding capacity of ewes, at 97%, in both farms. The ewes of the breed prekos with a live weight of 55.9–58.9 kg were involved in the breeding process, and the Askanian rams with a live weight of 93.3–95.1 kg. It was studied the influence of crossbred crossing of crossbred Askanian sheep of meat and wool breed on the development of productive and reproductive features of Zakarpattja sheep ewes of the breed prekos with the purpose of obtaining mixed breeds with improved economic performance. It is proven by theory and practice that one of the main criteria for the rational management of sheep breeding in modern conditions is the study of individual features of growth and development of young sheep. In a market economy, increasing the meat productivity of sheep is an important factor that determines the level of economic efficiency of the industry. Obtained progeny at the age of 4–8 months had a higher intensity of growth. Thus, the average daily weight gain of lambs in the control group was 234 g, and experimental — 265 g, which is 11.3% more than in the control. The average daily weight gain of the bright control group was 205 g, and the experimental one — 244 g, which is 11.9% more than in the control group. At the age of 8 months, the fat mass of slaughtered animals ranged from 32–36 kg and the carcass weight was 15–18 kg with good fat irrigation. The classification of sheep carcasses by fat irrigation according to the EUROP system corresponded to the average level of coverage of carcasses with fat, that is, the whole carcass was covered with a thin layer of fat, at the base of the tail — small accumulations of fat, the kidneys partially or completely covered with a thin layer of fat, with a slight fatty water between visible intercostal muscles .The balanced feeding of experimental animals had a positive effect on the increase in live birth weight and their viability. The minimum selection parameters of breeding sheep ewes, which are involved in the breeding process, are also set for obtaining animals with high multi-farrowing and combined productivity.

The aim of this work was to analyze the growth abilities of bull and heifer calves (n = 190) of the Charolais breed calved in one herd from 2006 to 2011. The evaluation was carried out during the period of calf raising, focusing to the effects of sex, parity and the mating method on live birth weight (BLW) and the live weight at 120 (LW120), 210 (LW210) and 365 (LW365) days of life, as well as the average daily weight gain reached by the age of 120 (G120), 210 (G210), and 365 (G365) days. Statistical analysis was carried out with the use of the SAS 9.3 program. The effect of sex on the live weight and average daily weight gain was statistically significant on the level of P < 0.01 always in favour of the bull calves (BLW +3.05 kg, LW120 +29.35 kg, LW210 +36.98 kg, and LW365 +117.23 kg). The lowest live birth weight was detected in the calves of primiparous cows (BLW = 45.46 kg; P < 0.01). The higher parity, the higher live birth weight was determined, with maximum values in cows from the fourth calving. The trends were similar in live weight at 120, 210 and 365 days of age, when significance level was P < 0.05. The parity effect on the average daily weight gain (G120, G210 a G365) was statistically insignificant (P > 0.05). The effect of embryo transfer (ET) and other commonly used reproduction methods (insemination and natural mating, AI/PP) was evaluated as well as. The calves born after embryo transfer showed a significantly (P < 0.01) higher the live birth weight as well as weight at different ages (BLW +5.85 kg, LW120 +18.15 kg, LW210 +22.94 kg and LW365 +35.43 kg), and G120 only (+100 g×day−1; P < 0.05). These results pointed the suitability of using the biotechnological reproduction methods, especially in relation to the total weight of the reared and fattened animals.
