The article presents the results of experimental research on the change of resistance of heating water flow in the home heating system under the influence of boiler work configuration changes. For the tests was used the research object in the form of a solid fuel heating boiler with automatic fuel feeding. The research facility was installed in an open-type heating network designed to reproduce the layout of the house heating system. During the tests, boiler operation was simulated for a few selected thermal loads most often found in individual heating. During the tests, the boiler worked with the power of: 10%, 30%, 50%, 80% and 100% of nominal boiler power. For each of the selected options, a series of flow resistance measurements were made using a U-type liquid manometer tube made by researchers. The obtained results of experimental research can be used as an aid in the case of designing home heating networks equipped with a solid fuel boiler.

A hydronic heating system is simply a piping arrangement conveying hot water to heat exchangers in order to provide space heating. A conventional hydronic heating system usually delivers hot supply water at 180 to 200 Fahrenheit temperature and has a dedicated space heating boiler. The hot water return temperature is usually about 140 Fahrenheit, meaning a 40 to 60 temperature difference between supply and return. The conventional hydronic heating system has a relatively constant circulated water flow rate and the temperature of the delivered hot water supply can be reset from outside air temperature. The water flow balancing of a conventional hydronic heating system is somewhat straightforward, although quite critical. The pipe sizing is determined on the basis of gallons per minute flow rate, the selected system pressure drop, and the maximum prudent velocity for the specific piping material. The circulating pump is selected on the basis of the required gallons per minute

The rise in gas prices causes them to switch to alternative fuels such as firewood, coal and fuel briquettes. Replacing a gas boiler with a solid fuel does not require much effort and such a solution was economically feasible given the high cost of electricity as well. However, to date, energy pricing has undergone a realignment. So the question remains how to really save energy and money of consumers. The purpose of the article was to analyze the cost of thermal energy during the heating period for individual buildings given the constant change in price and priorities for a particular fuel. Mathematical estimation of heat losses of an individual building was carried out, based on a number of assumptions and generalizations. Thanks to this technique, it is possible to estimate with sufficient accuracy for engineering calculations, consumption of natural gas, solid fuel and electricity to provide energy to the home heating system. As a result of the analysis, a number of features can be outlined. After rising gas prices, individual homeowners have made a sharp switch to solid fuel heating. In 2016, prices for alternative fuels, such as coal and fuel briquettes, were much lower than the price of gas for the population. Therefore, a solid fuel boiler unit was a good solution to the problems of Ukrainians in the fight against energy dependence. In 2020, the situation changed dramatically. The price of solid fuels has risen and it is difficult to find an alternative to gas now, taking into account the ease of operation of the gas boiler, as opposed to solid fuel. The sharp rise in the price of firewood and coal is associated with high demand and a sharp decrease in solid fuel resources. It should also be noted that the problem of ecology in Ukraine will continue to become increasingly important. Therefore, the use of solid fuel sources of heat will have to be consciously refuse in the near future. Application of local infrared heating system will allow to provide local heating of only some residential zones. Also, the installation of a two-zone or three-zone electricity meter and quality regulation of the infrared heating system will save energy.

The article discusses the issues of implementing the conversion of input signals of «smart» sensors for automation of the heating system, an algorithm for calculating the parameters of measuring circuits with a nonlinear element and an operational amplifier is developed. The issues of modeling cascade control of residential building heating systems are investigated. The results of the analysis and selection of parameters of the cascade control system are presented. An algorithm implementing the operation of a virtual object is given. The structures of management of residential building objects are proposed. The method of calculating the adjustment of the controller for cascade control is given. For the heating system stand, the procedure for setting the parameters of the process of PID control of the coolant temperature is considered. The results confirming the achievability of the proposed structural changes are obtained. The results of experimental studies are presented.

Experimental research on the pyrolysis and gasification of randomly packed straw pellets was conducted with an emphasis on the reactive properties of the shrinking porous structure of the pellets. The apparent kinetics of such pyrolysis was approximated by the random pore, grain, and volumetric models. The best approximation results were obtained with the grain and random pore models. The self-organized oscillations of the pellet conversion rate during pyrolysis were observed. Two complementary explanations of the phenomenon are proposed.

The coal-water slurry produced with Datong coal was tested in a home boiler for heating. The experiment results of dust collection with the new tube type electrostatic precipitation of fly ash of coal water slurry combustion fit the emission standard of air pollutants for boilers (GB 13271-2001). The parameters for the electrostatic precipitation are as follows: the drift velocity of fly ash of coal water slurry combustion, 10.39 cm/s, the number of the tube, 64, the size of the tube, 25.6cm×25.6cm×20cm, the power, 0.24kW.
