The socio-economic role of homestead land plots and private farms is studied, definitions of their terms are given, the role of the homestead land Fund in ensuring food security of the country and increasing the export potential of fruit and vegetable products is considered. The reasons for the higher efficiency of growing agricultural products in private farms in comparison with other forms of farming, as well as the features of the use of homestead land plots, are studied.

Abstract. This paper deals with the description and assessment of uncertainties in land use data derived from Remote Sensing observations, in the context of hydrological studies. Land use is a categorical regionalised variable reporting the main socio-economic role each location has, where the role is inferred from the pattern of occupation of land. The properties of this pattern that are relevant to hydrological processes have to be known with some accuracy in order to obtain reliable results; hence, uncertainty in land use data may lead to uncertainty in model predictions. There are two main uncertainties surrounding land use data, positional and categorical. The first one is briefly addressed and the second one is explored in more depth, including the factors that influence it. We (1) argue that the conventional method used to assess categorical uncertainty, the confusion matrix, is insufficient to propagate uncertainty through distributed hydrologic models; (2) report some alternative methods to tackle this and other insufficiencies; (3) stress the role of metadata as a more reliable means to assess the degree of distrust with which these data should be used; and (4) suggest some practical recommendations.

The role of the agricultural sector as a provider of food and non-food sources is directly related to the 2030 SDGs target of eradicating poverty and hunger. In Kubu Raya, one of the developing areas in the agricultural sector is Rasau Jaya District, with main crops being food crops and vegetables for food security. Agricultural land in Rasau Jaya District is dominated by peatlands with 14,371,392 hectares area. This study aims to determine the form of peatland use into potential land, the role of agriculture as a provider of food and non-food sources, and the form of its use. The method used is remote sensing method and survey method. The results showed that land use in the Rasau Jaya District included rice fields, gardens, fields, moor, yards, settlements, forests, shrubs, water bodies, and vacant land. Food crop agricultural products are used to meet food needs as well as non-food needs such as education and health. Most people use the harvest for personal consumption and for sale. There are still not many people in Rasau Jaya District who process agricultural products into a product. Farmers sell their crops in several ways, among others: directly sold to consumers, sold directly to the market by opening their own kiosks, deposited with middlemen and agents, and taken by investors who invest in farmers. Keywords: peatlands, food security, food crops

Fresh and processed vegetables are included in our diet every day. It is due to vegetables that the human body receives the bulk of the vitamins and minerals necessary for life. Given the special role of the vegetable growing industry in providing the population with the necessary fortified products, topical issues of increasing the efficiency and investment attractiveness of the industry are of strategic importance for the country's food security and solving the problem of import substitution of fresh vegetable products.

AbstractTrade in agricultural products is one of the most dynamically developing segments of the global market. The feature of the contemporary stage of world food trade development is that the leading exporters are also the largest food importers, combining the benefits of the international division of labor with the development of domestic agricultural production. In the paper, the role of foreign trade in ensuring food security has been evaluated by comparing the global index of food security and the share of imported food in the domestic market. As a result, the countries of the world have been divided into 4 groups. The first two groups include countries that ensure their citizens a high level of food security through imports, as well as or through their own efficient agricultural production. The third and fourth groups include countries which are not agrarian developed. The problems of hunger and malnutrition in these countries can potentially be solved with the help of foreign trade and increased efforts of the international community.

This study will explore the production approach of the food security regime in Indonesia, which increasingly marginalized peasant during the COVID-19 pandemic. The production approach emphasizes the role of global governance by encouraging trade liberalization and the large role of corporations to control the supply chain from upstream to downstream creating vulnerability to peasant. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a decline in market share of peasant agricultural products due to the closure of the wholesale market that supplies hotels and restaurants. The results of the study show that government policy during the COVID-19 pandemic increasingly benefited food corporations by easing operating hours for modern retailers and fixing selling prices that benefited corporations. Meanwhile, peasant are increasingly marginalized during the Corona virus outbreak in the operation of the food security regime with restrictions on the operation of traditional markets, price adjustments at the farm level, and the involvement of agribusiness application companies that are envisaged to help marketing, but in reality do not necessarily give selling prices which is beneficial due to the low bargaining power of  peasant.

Purpose: We examined whether participation in a food box program has a positive effect on fruit and vegetable consumption and food security. Methods: Participants and nonparticipants in a food box program were surveyed to determine differences between the two groups and change over time. Results: Fruit and vegetable intake declined in those who left the program after several months, and intake of fruit, carrots, and vegetables was lower among those who had left than among those who remained in the program. Food insecurity was associated with lower intakes of fruit and vegetables. Conclusions: Participation in a food box program can provide some benefit in terms of increased fruit and vegetable consumption for those who use the program regularly. Increasing the frequency of the box and encouraging continued use may improve these effects.

Abstract Economic growth encourages development growth in the Gerbangkertosusila (or can be shortened as GKS) region, which is a challenge for the agricultural sector. The phenomenon of changing the function of paddy fields to developed land because of the high demand for land can threaten the food security of a region. This research will model the trend of land use change and its impact on food security in GKS region in the next 20 years using cellular automata methods and quantitative statistics. Data collection was carried out by literature studies, field observations and interviews through questionnaires to relevant stakeholders. The results of the spatial modeling analysis of the paddy field conversion trend show that there are three regions that have the highest conversion rate of paddy fields in the GKS region, namely Sidoarjo, Gresik and Surabaya City. After further analysis related to food demand projections and rice production projections is carried out, Surabaya and Sidoarjo Regency is currently experiencing a food deficit which could last even in the years ahead. Having this result, the role of several other regencies such as Lamongan and Mojokerto Regency is needed in maintaining food security in the GKS region.

Subject. This article explores the condition of the food market of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Objectives. The article aims to develop proposals and recommendations to improve the food security of the Republic. Methods. For the study, we used analysis and synthesis, comparison, and observation. Results. The article identifies the specific features of the food market of Yakutia, due to the economic and geographical situation. It offers some recommendations for food security in the Republic. Conclusions. To improve the food security of the Republic, it is necessary to strengthen the economic role of the ulus (district) food markets in the formation of their own financial and economic resources and reduce the operational costs that increase the volume of product losses.
