Determining the coupling development mode and evolution process of the tourism industry–urbanization–ecological environment system is of great significance in promoting high-quality and sustainable development of tourism and the urban economy. In this study, an evaluation index system of the tourism–urbanization–ecological environment system was established, and the spatiotemporal differentiation of the coupling and coordination relationship of the tourism–urbanization–ecological environment system was analyzed for 35 major tourist cities in China from 2009 to 2018. The results show that the comprehensive development indices of the tourism industry subsystem and urbanization subsystem of China’s major tourist cities have steadily increased. The comprehensive development indices of large-sized and medium-sized cities in the east are relatively high. From 2009 to 2018, the coordination degree and coupling degree of the tourism–urbanization–ecological environment’’ system of 35 tourist cities showed an upward trend. The growth rate of the coupling coordination degree lags behind the growth rate of the coupling degree, and the overall system coordination level is still low. There are significant differences in the coupling degree and coupling coordination degree among the eastern, central, and western cities. This study offers both theoretical and practical implications for further equalizing the development level between the cities, as well as improving the overall coordination between the tourism industry, urbanization, and the ecological environment in China.

Tourism is crucial for promoting industrial development and is an important driver of China’s new type of urbanization. A tourism urbanization index system was constructed in three dimensions: the tourism industry, urbanization, and the ecological environment. The spatial–temporal differentiation characteristics and influencing factors of tourism urbanization in 35 major tourist cities in China from 2009 to 2018 were analyzed using the state space method, standard deviation ellipse, and spatial autocorrelation analysis. The results show the following. (1) Over time, the tourism industry index displays an upward trend, the urbanization index exhibits a more obvious upward trend, and the ecological environment index fluctuates strongly. Under the influence of all three factors, the tourism urbanization index shows a fluctuating rising trend. (2) Regarding the spatial distribution pattern, the development center of tourism urbanization shifts to the southeast, and the distribution direction is northeast-southwest. There is a significant agglomeration in global spatial autocorrelation. The local spatial correlation pattern is dominated by correlation characteristics and supplemented by different characteristics. (3) In terms of influencing factors, policy and regional development strategy, tourism resource endowment, economic development level, and traffic conditions are listed in descending order of influencing degree. Finally, we put forward some suggestions.

At the stage where China’s economic growth has shifted from high speed to high quality, how to build a sustainable development system with complementary high-quality resources through the integration of culture and tourism industries is the core issue. Since the 26 proposals for the integration of Beijing’s culture and tourism industries were put forward, Beijing is gradually building a sample of integrated culture and tourism development. In this paper, the theory of physics coupling is applied to the research on industrial integration, and a comprehensive evaluation index system is formulated. At the same time, the relative development model, coupling degree model, and coupling coordination degree model were used to empirically analyze the integrated development of the culture and tourism industries in Beijing from 2005 to 2017. The research results show that the degree of coupling and coordination of Beijing’s culture and tourism industry experienced three phases of mild imbalance, primary coordination, moderate coordination during the statistical period, and the integration effect gradually improved. Based on this, this article puts forward policy suggestions that are conducive to the further coordinated development of Beijing’s culture industry and tourism industry.

Firstly, this article uses the Entropy method to calculate the weights of economic development and ecological environment indicators in the eastern urban agglomeration of Qinghai Province from 2005 to 2019. Secondly, this article uses the calculated weights and linear weighting functions to construct evaluation models for economic development and ecological environment development, respectively. The results show that the comprehensive development level of the economic development in the eastern urban agglomeration of Qinghai Province cities is gradually rising, and the comprehensive development level of the ecological environment fluctuates slightly but the overall development trend is increasing. Then, using the Environmental-Economic Coordination degree evaluation model, quantitative analysis and evaluation of the Environmental-Economic system coordination degree, it is found that the coordinated development of the economic and ecological environment of the eastern urban agglomeration in Qinghai Province is relatively well. Finally, it analysis and proposes countermeasures and suggestions to promote the coordinated development of the economic and environmental system of the eastern urban agglomeration in Qinghai Province.

Correctly understanding and handling the relationships in the tea industry–tourism–ecological environment system is a prerequisite and foundation for the high-quality and sustainable development of the tea tourism industry. In this study, an evaluation index system of the tea industry–tourism–ecological environment system is established, the weight coefficient of each indicator is determined by the entropy weight method, and the coupling coordination degrees of Fujian Province and nine cities therein are evaluated by constructing a coupling coordination model from 2011 to 2019. The results indicate that the comprehensive development index of the tea industry–tourism–ecological environment system had an overall upward trend from 2011 to 2019, and the coupling coordination degree of the three systems changed from moderate maladjustment to high-quality coordination. There was spatial heterogeneity in the comprehensive development indices and coupling coordination degrees of the three systems, when considering the nine cities of Fujian Province. This study offers both theoretical and practical implications for further improving the development level and overall coordination between the tea industry, tourism, and the ecological environment in Fujian province.

Abstract The relationship between socioeconomic and ecological environment become a significant factor influencing the sustainable development of resource-based cities (RBCs), the transformation of RBCs is a key component of regional high-quality development. A comprehensive evaluation indicator system was constructed to research the coupling coordination level of RBCs in this paper, the dynamic DM model and the CCD model were adopted to measure the comprehensive level of the coupling coordination degree between socioeconomic and ecological environment of the 9 resource-based cities in Sichuan province. The results showed that the coupling coordination level was not ideal. Only two cities were located to the moderate coordination, and other cities were located to the primary coordination or tiny coordination. In addition, there was a significant different between SE and EE, and the comprehensive evaluation score of SE was lower than that of EE in eight RBCs, which accounting for 88.89%. Based on this, the policy suggestions for the sustainable development of different type of RBCs were provided. This study offers a model of China’s experience that might be benefit for achieving sustainable development goals (SGDs) of other cities and countries.

With the rapid development of economy, the scale of the logistics industry is also expanding rapidly, which brings great convenience to economy and trade, and becomes one of the pillar industries of national economy. However, with the development of economy and logistics, the problem of ecological environment is becoming more and more prominent. Through the design of economic development, logistics development, and the ecological environment index system, the economic development, logistics development and eco-environment development level of 30 provinces and cities in China from 2008 to 2017 are analyzed by using the entropy method and coupling coordination degree model, and the spatial characteristics of regional economic development, logistics development, and ecological environment are analyzed by using ArcGIS software. The results show that the coupling coordination of economic development, logistics development and ecological environment in most provinces and cities in China is at the mediate coupling level, and only Shanghai, Anhui, and Fujian in the Eastern region have reached the high-quality coupling level; there are significant temporal and spatial differences in the coupling and coordinated development between economic development, logistics development and ecological environment. The level of coupling coordination in the western region has always been at a low level, while the level of coupling coordination in most of the central and eastern regions is relatively high. There are situations where the level of coupling coordination is not high; the coordinated growth of economic development, logistics development, and ecological environment is mainly driven by economic development and logistics development. However, the level of ecological environment has been lagging behind the level of economic and logistics development. In the future development, it is necessary to give full play to the role of the logistics industry in economic development, weigh the relationship between the development of the logistics industry and ecological environmental protection, actively develop green logistics, and the level of coordinated development among economic development, logistics development and ecological environment.

The construction of minority characteristic tourist towns and the coordinated development of the tourism industry is an important way for ethnic minority tourist towns to improve their economic, social, resource, and environmental development levels. This article analyzed the mechanism of the coupling and coordination relationship between the construction system of ethnic minority characteristic tourist towns and the tourism industry system from three aspects: economy, society, and resource environment. Taking Longji Town as the research object, we constructed an index system for the coupling and coordinated development of the two systems. By using the coupling coordination degree model to analyze the coordinated development of Longji Town construction and tourism industry from 2013 to 2018, we found that the two systems generally show an upward development trend, and the degree of coupling coordination has changed from barely coupling coordination to good coupling coordination. The construction level of Longji Town and the degree of coupling coordination of the tourism industry system were manifested as the lagging development of the town construction level and the lagging tourism industry development alternately. The leading role of the development of Longji’s tourism industry in the construction of small towns was fluctuating and lacked stability. According to the research results, a policy reference for the sustainable development path of minority characteristic tourist towns was proposed.

The case study for this analysis is Henan province in China, where sustainability is a central issue for tourism development due to the area’s enormous and unexploited potential for cultural tourism. We construct a cultural tourism industry competitiveness evaluation index from cultural resource competitiveness, economic development support competitiveness, ecological environment competitiveness and basic guarantee competitiveness, and also construct a tourism flow evaluation index from tourist flow, consumption flow and effect flow. For this study, we then adopt an Entropy-TOPSIS and Coupling Coordination model to analyze the characteristics of coupling and coordinated development of them from 2009 to 2019. The empirical results show that (1) the comprehensive development index of cultural tourism industry competitiveness and tourism flow exhibits a fluctuating rise trend and maintains good development momentum; and (2) the coupling coordination degree between the cultural tourism industry competitiveness and tourism flow in Henan Province as a whole is gradually improving and the coupling coordination level developed from extreme disorder to grudging coordination, but it is unpromising in some parts of cities. Some recommendations are provided to promote the coupling and coordinated development of cultural tourism industry competitiveness and tourism flow for cities.
