AbstractDuring a routine osteology class for undergraduate students in Government Medical College, Kozhikode, Kerala, a median defect of posterior arch was found in the atlas of a cadaver. It was not a fracture as the edges were regular, round and smooth.There was no associated anomalies. These midline defects of posterior arch of atlas are sub divided both morphologically (types A-E) and clinically (sub groups 1-5) depending on the extent of absence of posterior arch and presence or absence of the posterior tubercle.The author presents a rare anomaly of a posterior arch partial aplasia which could be congenital. Since major neurologic deficits can be produced by a minor trauma, it is crucial to recognize this anomaly.

Background: Internet has become an essential part of one’s life in this modern era where technology is taking over the world. Risk of Internet addiction (IA) has increased in this year 2020, due to Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, where most of time students are restricted to their homes thus relying on social media to be in touch with outer world, moreover surfing of web, as well as online learning practices increased their screen and internet exposure time. Hence, we conducted a study to assess internet addiction among medical undergraduate students of Government Medical College in Agra.Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 600 medical undergraduate students of S.N. Medical College, Agra. A self-administered, pre-validated questionnaire was used and a total of 488 students responded. E-questionnaire consist of questions about demographic information and internet usage pattern, it also contains Young’s IA test scale to measure internet addiction. Data obtained was analyzed and inferences were drawn.Results: The prevalence of IA was 61.5%. Mean ± Standard deviation (SD) age of the participants was 22.27±1.59 years and 48.36% were males. IA was significantly associated with male students, higher family income group and higher year of academic course. IA was also statistically significant with higher number of years since using internet, greater screen and internet usage time.Conclusion: Internet addiction is a growing problem among students of professional courses especially in medical colleges. IA has psychological, physical, and social impact on student’s life. So, it is necessary to develop strategies for prevention of internet addiction.

Psoas minor is long, slender skeletal muscle it lies anterior to psoas major. It is an inconstant muscle. It was absent in 40-70% of subjects. To determine the frequency and morphometry of psoas minor muscle.: 20 cadavers were dissected during routine dissection for undergraduate students at Ayaan institute of medical sciences, Moinabad, Hyderabad and Government medical college, Mahabubnagar. Bilateral variations were observed in one specimen, unilateral variations were observed in two specimens.: Out of forty specimens Psoas minor was present in three specimens. In one specimen bilateral variations observed, other two specimens unilateral. If it is present, clinical importance to radiologists, surgeons and physiotherapists as it can mimic certain abdominal emergencies.

This study was conducted to determine the clinical evaluation and various etiological factors of secondary seizures in patients admitted to Government Medical College, Nagpur. We evaluated 58 patients of secondary seizures from Dec 2011 to Oct 2013. Secondary seizures were defined as case of seizure with CT (brain) or MRI (brain) abnormality1. Out of 58 cases 35 were males and 23 were females. Mean age of study subjects was 34.85. The commonest presenting feature was generalized tonic clonic convulsions (42 patients) followed by focal seizures (16 patients).  Todd’s palsy was observed in 4 cases. Aura was present in 24 cases. According to CT brain scan the aetiology was – neurocysticercosis (34.48%), post stroke (27.59%), tuberculoma (24.14%). Space occupying lesions(SOLs) were present in 8 patients, out of whom 4 had brain tumour, 2 patients had brain abscess, 1 had hydatid cyst and 1 had metastasis. Majority of lesions were located in frontal region (58.62%), followed by in parietal region (44.83%), in temporal region (25.86%) and in occipital region (13.79 % patients). In our study neurocysticercosis was found to be the commonest cause of secondary seizures. As in a meta-analysis it was found that cysticidal drugs result in better outcome in patients of neurocysticecosis, we recommend that the patients of secondary seizures should be identified for the aetiology and treated at the earliest2.

Background: Adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes are related to pregnancies spaced too closely together. Objective of present study was to compare the expulsion rate and complications between post placental IUCD insertion between caesarean section and vaginal delivery.Methods: This study was a prospective comparative study conducted in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at Agartala Government Medical College over 1.5 Years (January 2016-June2017) All cases at term pregnancy delivering by caesarean section and vaginal delivery were divided into two different groups. Sample size of 105 in each group. Subjects recruited from-obstetrics OPD and casualty of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GB Pant Hospital expulsion rate and complications. Comparative evaluation of Expulsion rate and complications following post placental IUCD insertion between caesarean section and vaginal delivery at the end of six months, one year and one and half year.Results: There was no significant difference in either complications between the two groups (P value-.913) or outcomes (p value-.035). Expulsion rate 18.2% following vaginal delivery compared to those with intracaesarean insertion i.e 3.8%.Conclusions: The complications associated with postplacental Intrauterine device insertion is insignificant, still the awareness, acceptance and continuation are very low. Therefore Information, education Communication activity by the field workers must be enhanced to overcome this knowledge gap.

Objective: To investigate the incidence and spectrum of neuroimaging ndings and their prognostic role in hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Government Medical College Nagpur along with their correlation with D-Dimer Values and GCS . Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of 774 COVID-19 conrmed patients admitted to Government Medical College st st Nagpur between 1 April 2020 and 31 October 2020. Clinical data were extracted from electronic medical records, and particularly data of all neurological symptoms were extracted from the imaging reports. Four neuro-radiologists evaluated all neuroimaging studies for acute neuroimaging ndings related to COVID-19. Plasma D-dimer levels were measured using a particle-enhanced, immunoturbidimetric assay on admission in the 116 patients who came for evaluation of neurological symptoms. Moreover ,the patients were classied into different groups as mild, moderate and severe based on their GCS scores and was assessed with respect to their neuro-imaging ndings. Results: 15 % of the admitted patients suffered from neurological symptoms. Acute stroke was the most common nding in the patients with positive neuroimaging ndings resulting in 34.4% of the patients with positive neuroimaging ndings. Other ndings were subacute infarcts (13.8%), Chronic lacunar infarcts (20.6%) , Intraparenchymal hemorrhage in 10.4 %, hypertensive encephalopathy in 7 % and subarachanoid hemorrhage in 3.4 %. Plasma median D-dimer levels were signicantly (P฀ =฀ 0.000) higher in Acute stroke patients as compared to COVID 19 positive patients who had negative CT scan imaging features(0.88; interquartile range [IQR], 0.28–2.11 mg/L and 0.31; IQR, 0.17–0.74 mg/L). Patients who have positive neuroimaging ndings presented with a lower GCS whereas patients who had negative neuroimaging ndings presented with a higher GCS. Conclusions: Our study demonstrates acute stroke is the most common neuroloimaging nding in hospitalized COVID 19 Patients. Moreover D-Dimer values are highly predictive of acute ischemic stroke. Patients with positive neuro-imaging ndings have poor GCS scores.
