AbstractBanana plant is one type of plant that contains chemical compounds that can be used for treatment. One part of the plant that has not been fully utilized is the heart of the Ambon banana (Musa acuminate Colla). Banana flower is known to contain flavonoid compounds, phenols, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and coumarins. One of the compounds belonging to the flavonoid group which generally includes natural antioxidant compounds and has an antimicrobial function is phenolic compounds. The purpose of this study was to determine the total phenols, to examine the activity of antioxidants, antibacterials, and the ethanol extract of Ambon banana flower (Musa acuminate Colla). Determination of total phenol using the GAE (Gallic Acid Equivalence) method, antioxidant analysis using the FRAP method, and the antibacterial activity test using the paper disc method. The total phenol yield obtained was 17.7291 ± 0.102 mg GAE/g extract, the results from the antioxidant test were obtained with an EC50 value of 0.0628 µmolFe2+/g sampel extract, which means that the ethanolic extract of Ambon banana flower has a high antioxidant activity value, and antibacterial results in the extract. with a medium average (5-10 mm). From the results of tests carried out, the ethanol extract of Ambon banana flower has antioxidant activity and has little antibacterial power.Keywords : Banana plants; Ambon banana flower; antioxidants; antibacterial; total phenol AbstrakTanaman pisang merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman yang mengandung senyawa kimia yang dapat digunakan untuk pengobatan. Salah satu bagian tanaman yang belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal adalah jantung pisang ambon (Musa acuminate Colla). Jantung pisang diketahui mengandung senyawa flavonoid, fenol, alkaloid, tannin, saponin, dan kumarin. Salah satu senyawa yang termasuk golongan flavonoid yang umumnya termasuk senyawa antioksidan alami dan memiliki fungsi antimikroba yaitu senyawa fenolik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu penentuan total fenol, meneliti aktivitas antioksidan, antibakteri, dan pada ekstrak etanol jantung pisang ambon (Musa acuminate Colla). Penentuan total fenol menggunakan metode GAE (Equivalensi Asam Galat), analisis antioksidan menggunakan metode FRAP, dan uji aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan metode kertas cakram. Hasil total fenol yang diperoleh 17,7291 ± 0,102 mg GAE/g ekstrak, hasil dari uji antioksidan didapat dengan nilai EC50 pada ekstrak 0,0628 µmolFe2+/g sampel yang berarti ekstrak etanol jantung pisang ambon mempunyai nilai aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi, dan hasil antibakteri pada ekstrak dengan rata-rata sedang (5-10 mm). Dari hasil pengujian yang dilakukan ekstrak etanol jantung pisang ambon mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan dan mempunyai sedikit daya antibakteri. The research objectives were to identify the secondary metabolite components, total phenolic content and determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of red betel leaf (Piper crocatum Ruiz & Pav.). The extraction process was carried out by materation using ethanol as a solvent. Determination of total phenolic content was carried out colorimetrically with Folin-Ciocalteu reagent measured at a maximum wavelength of 765 nm. Determination of antioxidant activity using the DPPH method measured by spectrophotometry at a maximum wavelength of 517 nm. The results of phytochemical screening of the ethanolic extract of red betel leaf contain secondary metabolites, including flavonoid, phenolic, tannin, alkaloids, steroids, and triterpenoids. The total phenolic content of the red betel leaf ethanol extract was 0.949±0.003 mg GAE/g d.w. and has antioxidant activity (IC50) 84,656 including strong category as an antioxidant. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluated the quality parameters and analyzed the antioxidant activity of seroja leaves Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn. Methods: The quantification of the chemical compound was determined by its total phenol and flavonoid levels. The evaluate the antioxidant activity was determined by the comparability of the four common radical scavenging assays using 2,2′-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid (ABTS); 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical; cupric ion reducing antioxidant capacity (CUPRAC); ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP); and 2-thiobarbituric acid (TBA) methods. Results: The results of phytochemical screening for simplicia powder and 70% ethanol extract of seroja leaves contain secondary metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, coumarin, quinones, and triterpenoid steroids. The results of the determination of the quality parameters meet the requirements of quality and safety standard of the medicinal herb. The result of the determination of total phenol content from 70% ethanol extract of Seroja leaves was 181.62±0.82 mg GAE/g extract. The results of the determination of total flavonoid levels from 70% ethanol extract of seroja leaves amounted to 289.83±1.04 mg QE/g extract. The results of antioxidant activity tests using the ABTS, DPPH, and TBA methods showed IC50 respectively 287.7 mg/l, 22.3 mg/l, and 352.6 mg/l and CUPRAC and FRAP methods had an antioxidant capacity of 160.76±0.35 and 253.36±0.48 mg AAE/g extract. Conclusion: Seroja leaves (Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn.) have the potential to be used as an antioxidant medicinal herb and its extract meet the standard of quality control and safety.

Uncaria gambier Roxb is a plant from the Rubiaceae family, belongs to the Bajakah group and has been used empirically in the treatment of various types of diseases in the community. Besides being one of the industrial plants and export commodities produced in Sumatra and Kalimantan, gambier leaves is also used frequently in Indonesia, both for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. As a result, market demand both nationally and internationally have increased. The aim of this research are determination of antioxidant activity of ethanol extract and aqueous extract of gambir claw using 1,1-diphenil-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and determination of total phenol using Calcetau folin reagent. Gambier plant samples were taken in the forest area around the Tanjungpura University campus, the claws were separated and dried at room temperature, then powdered and extracted by maceration using 70% ethanol pa and aquadest, then the extract was concentrated until it was ready to be tested for antioxidant activity and determination of total phenol. The total phenolic ethanol extract and aqueous extract of gambir claw were 224.66 mg GAE/g extract (GEA : Gallic Acid Eqivalent) and 299.08 mg GAE/g extract, respectively, while the antioxidant potential (IC50) was 39.566 μg/mL and 65.140 μg/mL, and the IC50 for comparison of Vitamin C was 7.02 μg/mL.

AbstractThis study aims to obtain fresh and instant drink formulas from ginger, nutmeg and lemongrass that are accepted by the panelists and have the best antioxidant activity. This study used the RAL method with 6 treatments 3 replications, and fresh drink formulations of FA1: ginger 300mL, nutmeg 100mL, lemongrass 100mL, FA2: ginger 300mL, nutmeg 50mL, lemongrass 150mL, FA3: ginger 300mL, nutmeg 25mL, lemongrass 175 mL and instant drinks FA4: ginger 300mL, nutmeg 100mL, lemongrass 100mL, FA5: ginger 300mL, 50mL of nutmeg, 150mL of lemongrass, FA6: ginger 300mL, nutmeg 25mL, lemongrass 175 mL, then analyzed for total phenol content, antioxidant activity as an antidote to free radicals, then using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that the highest total phenol content was in the FA3 treatment of 10.81 mgGAE / g, and the lowest was in the FA4 treatment of 0.22 mgGAE / g. The results of the analysis of antioxidant activity as an antidote to DPPH free radicals at a concentration of 100ppm showed that the highest percentage of inhibition was obtained in the FA3 treatment of 52.18% and the lowest was in the FA4 treatment, namely 42.59%. Whereas for the IC50 value, the highest value was found in the FA3 treatment with a concentration of 56.8 ppm, and the lowest was in the FA4 treatment with a concentration of 116.05 ppm. The best treatment based on the sensory test of instant drinks, the most preferred by the panelists was in the FA5 treatment with a value of 4.35, and the lowest was in the FA6 treatment with a value of 4. The results of this study can be concluded that the fresh drinks that have the best total phenols are found in the FA3 treatment, where as for instant drinks that have the best total phenols in the FA5 treatment, and for fresh drinks and instant drinks that have the best antioxidant activity are in the FA3 treatment, for pelyan persistic preferences testing FA5.Keywords: Ginger, Nutmeg, Lemongrass, Total Phenol, Antioxidant.

Garlic (Allium sativum L.), ginger emprit (Zingiber officinale var Amarum) and red ginger (Zingiber officinale var Rubrum) contain active compounds from the phenol group which have antioxidant properties. This study aims to determine the ratio of antioxidant activity of red ginger and ginger in garlic-based liquid preparations using DPPH reagent (1.1 diphenyl-2 picrylhydrazyl) and determine its correlation with total phenol and vitamin C levels contained in both liquid preparations. Total phenol content was determined by reacting folin-ciocalteu and vitamin C levels were determined by titrimetric method. Total phenol levels are expressed as mg GAE (Gallic Acid Equivalent) per gram of preparation, antioxidant activity is expressed as IC50 (µg / mL), and vitamin C is expressed as percent (%). The results show that total phenol content of emprit and red ginger in garlic-based preparation were 80,296 mgGAE / g preparations and 159,164 mgGAE / g preparations respectively, antioxidant activity (IC50) for each preparation were 3,310 µg / mL and 2,075 µg / mL respectively and the vitamin C level were 4.338% and 6.372%. Correlation test showed the very strong and significant correlation existed between antioxidant activity and the total phenol levels in both emprit and red ginger-garlic preparation but no significant correlation detected between antioxidant activity and vitamin C levels of both preparations.

Many plants are used empirically as antioxidant. Plants that are frequently used in Indonesian communities are Zingiber officinale and Piper retrofractum. The aim of this research was to investigate the in vitro antioxidant activity of single ethanolic extract and the combinations ofZ. officinale and P. retrofratum using free radical scavenging DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. Z. officinale and P. retrofratum were extracted by maceration using 95% ethanol for 3 x 24 hours. Antioxidant activity was evaluated using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. The concentration of the extract (μg/mL) that was required to scavenge 50% of free radicals (IC50)was calculatedusing the percent scavenging activities of six different extract concentrations. The results showed that the single ethanolic extract of Z. Officinalle produced the highest antioxidant activity with IC50of 56 μg/mL, while the antioxidant  activity of the single ethanolic extract of  P. retrofractum produced an IC50 of 3.445 μg/mL. The IC50 of combination of Z. officinale and P. retrofratum ethanolic extracts at concentration ratios of 1: 2, 1 : 1, and 2 : 1 were 148 μg/mL, 85 μg/mL, and 73 μg/mL.Keywords: Zingiber officinale, Piper retrfratum, Antioxidant, DPPH
