The Commonwealth Government is increasing its emphasis on public health andquality of care, which will require a capacity to measure health outcomes and developstrategies for continuous improvement. The reforms being considered by the Councilof Australian Governments (COAG) are designed to improve the quality of healthservices by allowing the Commonwealth to concentrate on broader strategic analysisand performance measures. The health industry will need to take a pivotal role inimproving service delivery through collaboration with industry leaders and aimingfor best practice.

Одним из последствий осуществления медицинской деятельности в разнообразных хозяйственных формах является изменение экономического положения работников здравоохранения. От количества и качества их труда зависит экономический результат деятельности лечебно-профилактических учреждений (ЛПУ) в целом. В статье приводится сравнительный анализ занимающихся подготовкой экономистов в области здравоохранения по различным критериям. Подчеркивается необходимость непрерывного совершенствования подготовки управленческих кадров в области экономики здравоохранения в современных условиях развития общества. One of the consequences of the implementation of medical activities in various economic forms is a change in the economic situation of health care workers. The number and quality of their work depends on the economic result of the activities of medical and preventive institutions (LPU) as a whole. The article presents a comparative analysis of the health economists who are engaged in training according to various criteria. The necessity of continuous improvement of training of managerial personnel in the field of health economics in the modern conditions of society development is emphasized.

The effect of government spending on population’s health has received attention over the past decades. This study re-examines the link between government health expenditures and health outcomes to establish whether government intervention in the health sector improves outcomes. The study uses annual data for the period 1980–2014 on Ghana. The ordinary least squares (OLS) and the two-stage least squares (2SLS) estimators are employed for analyses; the regression estimates are then used to conduct cost-effectiveness analysis. The results show that, aside from income, public health expenditure contributed to the improvements in health outcomes in Ghana for the period. We find that, overall, increasing public health expenditure by 10% averts 0.102–4.4 infant and under-five deaths in every 1000 live births while increasing life expectancy at birth by 0.77–47 days in a year. For each health outcome indicator, the effect of income dominates that of public spending. The cost per childhood mortality averted ranged from US$0.20 to US$16, whereas the cost per extra life year gained ranged from US$7 to US$593.33 (2005 US$) during the period. Although the health effect of income outweighs that of public health spending, high (and rising) income inequality makes government intervention necessary. In this respect, development policy should consider raising health sector investment inter alia to improve health conditions.

In this current 21st-century global competitive market, employee empowerment plays a significant role in building the internal resource-based capacity of business survival towards meeting and exceeding ever-increasing market needs. The tertiary health institutions saddled with the responsibility of providing acute healthcare services significantly require effective commitment of their healthcare workers in promoting quality of service delivery towards achieving result-oriented healthcare quality assurance outcome. However, the Nigerian health sector has been characterised with diverse challenges in sustaining quality assurance due to lack of leadership commitment in empowering caregivers in the sector effectively. To a large extent, this has weakened the adequate performance of employees, and also, contributed to the observed increase in morbidity and mortality rate in the Nigerian health centres. This aim of this paper is to critically analyse the impact of employees' empowerment on the perceived quality of service delivery in the context of the Nigerian healthcare institutions.

Abstract SIGNIFICANCE. Older adults can contribute wisdom, skills, and time to communities. The public health sector has unique capabilities for creating conditions that promote health, foster community connections, and quality of life. METHODS. Two frameworks provide public health (PH) with core strategies to improve outcomes for all older adults. The Framework for Creating an Age-Friendly Public Health System (AFPHS) supports the PH role, as demonstrated by 37 of Florida’s 67 county health departments that are piloting the AFPHS Framework. The Healthy Brain Initiative’s (HBI) State and Local Public Health Partnerships to Address Dementia is a framework for action used by PH to promote cognitive health, improve care for cognitive impairment, and increase caregiving supports. Both frameworks call for utilizing regional data and cross-sector partnerships. IMPLICATIONS. PH can contribute to community-wide initiatives to promote well-being and community connections for older adults. Cross-sector partnerships can start by using available tools and planning guides.

Introduction: Bangladesh is facing many challenges in health care that are similar to other developing countries. In Bangladesh standard of paramedical, nursing, pharmacy and public health education are expanding rapidly which needs to call for assessment and evaluation to be up to date in the respective fields. Study aims to assess the expansion of Nursing, Paramedical & Public health Education in Govt. & non Govt. sectors & its implication on quality of education. Methods: This was a descriptive type of cross sectional explorative study, conducted among the teachers and student of different institutes. Questionnaire was developed and a FGD was done. Then the data was analyzed. Results: At present situation, the numbers of non govt. organizations are more than govt. organizations (127 vs. 85). SWOT analyses showed the overall strength of the institutions were the scope for further improvements and the political commitments for expansion. Weaknesses lie in the lack of adequate infrastructure, suboptimal technical and laboratory facilities and teaching staffs. Opportunities were, increasing demand and provision of jobs at home and abroad. Possible threats were loss of quality services, recognition and registration of the institutes. Regarding the overall organization of the courses, 43% of the students voted as good and 100% of the teachers showed positive opinion. Regarding the teaching-learning procedure, 41% of the teachers strongly agreed about the perfect selection of the students. 48.3% teachers agreed about the adequacy of the number of teachers. 47.8% students also agreed with the competency of the teachers. Nearly one third teachers as well as students agreed about the good physical environment of the institute. About 35% and 36% of the teachers and the students respectively agreed about the transparency of the assessment systems. Conclusions: Present Bangladesh Govt. has implemented various initiatives regarding health sector reform. Proper funding, management, monitoring and evaluation can improve present situation and thus help in the development of better institutional output. Abstract The paper addresses the first step of the 5S methodology, a widespread methodology in organizations that has as its primary focus the continuous improvement of the quality of material goods production processes or customer service delivery. This methodology has a very good application area within the defence system because this field is essentially based on a very strong organizational culture with a number of specific rigor and standards that contribute to the implementation of the five concrete stages of this methodology. In a synthetic analysis of these types of organizations, it is obvious that these activities necessary for the application of this useful tool for the organization of jobs have a solid foundation but it should be restructured according to the criteria set out in the 5S methodology.

Drug regulation plays pivotal role in any country because the purpose of drug regulation is to promote and to protect public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy and quality of drugs. Drug regulation should cover all products for which medicinal claims are made and all aspects of drugs like manufacturing, import, export, distribution, dispensing, promotion, sell and supply. But unfortunately drug regulation does not meet these requirements in India as legislation omits or exempts certain areas of pharmaceutical activity from the scope of control in India. Although there are so many deficiencies, lacunae and hurdles in Indian drug regulation, there is a wider scope for drug regulation in India because government is taking positive steps to reform it. One can say India is a vast ocean of opportunities. Hence it is tried to analyse the drug regulation of India using the framework of SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). SWOT analysis aids to find out possible ways to overcome the weaknesses and threats, and to utilize the strengths and opportunities properly
