Student interest in learning is a very important factor in determining student success in learning mathematics. Various attempts were made by educators and educational researchers to increase student interest in learning. This research is a classroom action research model by Kemmis and Mc Taggart that aims to describe the application of Guided Discovery learning in optimizing students' interest in learning mathematics. The increase in students' interest in learning mathematics is also supported by the results of student achievement. The research data consisted of students' interest in learning mathematics, learning achievement data, and observations of learning outcomes. Data on learning interest in mathematics is obtained through a questionnaire, data on learning achievement is obtained through tests and data on the results of observations of learning achievement are obtained through observation sheets during learning. In general, the results of the study showed that the average student interest in learning mathematics at 83.93 reached the good category. The completeness of student achievement test results reached 83.87% of students achieving the minimum completeness criteria with an average student score of 85.61. The percentage of teacher and student learning outcomes respectively at 83.80% and 76.91% reached the good category. Therefore it can be concluded that the Guided Discovery learning model can be applied to optimize students' interest in mathematics learning especially by paying attention to the results of reflections from this study.

<p><em>research was motivated by the problem of the low learning outcomes of fourth grade mathematics. This is because mathematics learning is still teacher centered or still dominated by teachers, teachers tend to still teach mathematics in an abstract/symbolic way where the learning method is contrary to the cognitive development of students. This study aims to determine whether there is an increase in mathematics learning outcomes using the Guided Discovery Learning method in fourth grade students of SD 4 Adiwarno. The research was conducted in March-April 2020 in the fourth grade of SD 4 Adiwarno, Mejobo District, Kudus Regency as the research subject. The results of the study showed that the results of learning mathematics in the initial conditions were only 33.33% of students who reached the KKM. There was an increase in the first cycle of learning outcomes to 50% of students and in the second cycle increased to 94.4% of students who reached the KKM. The author suggests elementary school teachers to apply the Guided Discovery Learning method in learning mathematics in order to improve student achievement.</em></p>

The purpose of study was to determine the ability in comprehending anecdote text through discovery learning method. The subject of this research is the students grade X MIPA 2 SMAN 3 Bengkulu city academic tear 2015/2016. Kind of the research is classroom action research. The data of this research is the ability in comprehending anecdote text and students and teacher’s abservation sheet. Based on the research that discovery learning can increase ability in comprehending anecdote text for the students grade X MIPA 2 SMAN 3 Bengkulu City. The result can be seen in score action research cycle I with the average score 70,42 it is good category and in action research cycle II 80,85 it is the best category. The classical learning achievement in cycle I 48,39% and in cycle II 87,05%, it means that there is significant increase between cycle I and cycle II.

Abstrak: Permasalahan penelitian bagaimana meningkatkan prestasi belajar pada materi pokok rumus segitiga dengan menerapkan metode discovery learning. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui peningkatan prestasi belajar siswa melalui penerapan metode discovery learning. Sumber data penelitian adalah siswa kelas X MM2 SMK Negeri 1 Kabanjahe Kabupaten Karo Provinsi Sumatera Utara pada semester genap tahun pelajaran 2018/2019 berjumlah 32 siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian penerapan menunjukan metode discovery learning dapat meningkatkan prestasi belajar pada siswa kelas X MM2 SMK Negeri 1 Kabanjahe materi pokok Rumus Segitiga. Hasil prasiklus ditemukan 13 siswa (48,15%) dari 32 siswa tuntas belajar. Hasil ini meningkat pada Siklus  menjadi 17 siswa tuntas belajar atau (62,96%), dan selanjutnya pada Siklus I mencapai 23 siswa tuntas belajar (85,19%). Rata-rata hasil belajar Matematika menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dari prasiklus sebesar 57,34 menjadi 64,69 pada Siklus I, lalu meningkat pada Siklus II sebesar 79,53. Dengan demikian penerapan metode discovery learning terbukti meningkatkan prestasi belajar Matematika materi rumus segitiga pada kelas X MM2 SMK Negeri 1 Kabanjahe, sehingga dapat untuk diterapkan. Kata kunci: Pembelajaran discovery learning, Prestasi belajar Matematika Abstract: The research problem is how to improve learning achievement on the subject matter of the triangle formula by applying the discovery learning method. The purpose of the study was to determine the increase in student achievement through the application of the discovery learning method. The source of the research data were students of class X MM2 SMK Negeri 1 Kabanjahe, Karo Regency, North Sumatra Province in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year totaling 32 students. Data collection was carried out quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the application research show that the discovery learning method can improve learning achievement in class X MM2 SMK Negeri 1 Kabanjahe with the subject matter of the Triangle Formula. Pre-cycle results found 13 students (48.15%) out of 32 students had completed their studies. This result increased in the cycle to 17 students who finished studying or (62.96%) and then in the cycle reached 23 students who finished learning (85.19%). The average mathematics learning outcomes showed a significant increase from pre-cycle of 57.34 to 64.69 in Cycle, then increased to 79.53 in Cycle I. Thus, the application of the discovery learning method is proven to improve learning achievement in mathematics with the triangle formula material in class X MM2 SMK Negeri 1 Kabanjahe, so it can be applied. Keywords: Discovery learning, Mathematics learning achievement

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan keefektifan pembelajaran matematika berbasis masalah dan pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing ditinjau dari hasil belajar kognitif dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas VIII SMP. Penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta tahun pelajaran 2014/2015 yang terdiri atas sembilan kelas. Sampel penelitianmenggunakan kelas VIII.8 dan VIII.. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) pembelajaran berbasis masalah efektif ditinjau dari hasil belajar kognitif dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas VIII SMP, (2) pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing efektif ditinjau dari hasil belajar kognitif dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas VIII SMP, dan (3) pembelajaran berbasis masalah lebih efektif daripada pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing ditinjau dari hasil belajar kognitif dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas VIII SMP.Kata Kunci: pembelajaran berbasis masalah, pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing, hasil belajar kognitif, dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif The effectiveness of mathematics problem-based learning and guided discovery learning viewed from the cognitive learning achievement and creative thinking skill AbstractThis research aimed to describe the comparison of the effectiveness of mathematics problem-based learning and guided discovery learning in term of the cognitive learning achievement and creative thinking skill of grade VIII students of junior high school. This research was a quasi-experimental design. The research population included all of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta in the academic year of 2014/2015 which consisted of nine classes, The sample was classess VIII.8 and VIII.9 randomly selected. The result shows that: (1) mathematics problem-based learning was  effective in terms of the cognitive learning achievement and creative thinking skill of grade VIII students of junior high school, (2) mathematics guided discovery learning was effective  in terms of the cognitive learning achievement and creative thinking skill of grade VIII students of junior high school, and (3) mathematics problem-based learning was more effective than guided discovery learning in terms of the cognitive learning achievement and creative thinking skill of grade VIII students of junior high school.Keywords: problem-based learning, guided discovery learning, cognitive learning achievement and creative thinking skill

This research is triggered by the learning process that is still yet to direct the active role of students learning. Based on the result of observation that the teacher is more dominant in the activity of learning than the students due to the students were lack of understanding towards the subject matter resulted in the lack of activeness of students in the classroom.  Based on the background study, it is needed to apply a method of learning that is able to enhance students’ activity and improving the score. One of them by applied the guided discovery learning method. The goal of this research is to know the learning outcomes improvement of the students when using guided discovery learning method on operated Electromagnetic Control System and Operation course in SMK Muhammadiyah Padang. The type of this research is quasi-experimental with one group pre-test post-test design. The population of this research was second year student of group one that registered at 2015/2016 academic year which 26 person of students. The instruments of research was objective tests that has been conducted a test of the validity, reliability, the difficulty level and the different index level. The data were analyzed by using gain score test. Based on the result, the students who achieve value of minimum completeness criteria (MCC) before using the guided discovery learning method was 7,7%. While the students who achieve minimum completeness criteria after using guided discovery learning method was 87,46%. Based on gained score test, the score of the students were increase in Middle Category. So, the implementation of guided discovery learning method can improve student learning outcomes on Electromagnetic Control System and Operation courses.

This study aims to improve science learning outcomes of fourth grade students of SDN 29 Koto Panjang, Ranah Pesisir sub district using guided discovery learning method. This type of research is a classroom action research. The subjects of this study were students of grade IV-A SDN 29 Koto Panjang, Ranah Pesisir sub-district, which consisted of 28 students, consisting of 13 male students and 15 female students. Researchers used an action research model from Kemmis and Taggart. This study was conducted in two cycles of action. In the first cycle is done in one meeting while in the second cycle two meetings. At each cycle there are activities of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The instruments used are observation and test sheets. Prior to use in the study, tests were empirically validated and expert judgment. Test reliability is calculated using AlphaCronbach. The observational data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively while the test result was analyzed descriptively quantitative percentage. The results of the first cycle study showed that the percentage of students whose value above the new KKM reached 71.43%, so it still can not achieve the criteria of research success. In cycle II, the steps of applying discovery learning method to improve student's success are done by giving motivation, dividing the smaller group members and heterogeneous member, and giving the opportunity to do group presentation on the result of the practice in front of the class. The percentage of student scores above KKM in cycle II increased to 89.29%. Based on the results of the research, it can be seen that guided discovey method can improve science learning outcomes.

This research focuses to produce learning material of science lesson for Junior High School at the eighth grade in the topic of mirror using guided discovery learning method. This research consists of three steps with design one group pretest-posttest. Analyze data by using descriptive analyze N-Gain, T-Test, and ANOVAs one way. The results of this research are learning material of lesson what have been developed, generally, in the good category. Implementation of lesson plan is good. More student activities are making hypothesis, writing identification of variables and doing experiment to each group are 9.9%, 9.8%, and 9.8%. The result of research showed that average N-Gains for each indicator of critical thinking skill are middle category. That is cleared of inferential analyzes t-Test what showed that there is significant differences between pretest and posttests on the result of critical thinking skill tests and  tests of lesson, include of analyze by ANOVAs one way.. The other results are that based on analyzes of maximum criteria completeness (KKM), guided discovery learning method gives influence of result student cognitive test for three groups which is complete. The response of students to instruction with guided discovery learning method is good. Based on the result of research, conclusion of this research is the instruction of physics or science by using guided discovery learning can develop critical thinking skill and complete results of student cognitive lesson. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran IPA fisika siswa SMP kelas VIII pada sub materi cermin dengan metode (guided discovery). Penelitian ini terdiri dari 3 tahap dengan rancangan menggunakan one group pretest-posttest design. Analisis data dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif N-Gain, T-Test, dan Anava Satu Jalur. Temuan dari hasil penelitian ini yaitu perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan secara umum berkategori baik. Keterlaksanaan RPP berkategori baik. Aktivitas siswa yang dominan adalah membuat hipotesis, menuliskan identifikasi variabel-variabel percobaan  dan melakukan percobaan untuk setiap kelompok berturut-turut adalah 9.9 %, 9.8%, dan 9.8%. Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa Ngain rata-rata keterampilan berpikir kritis berada pada kategori sedang. Temuan lain bahwa berdasarkan tinjauan KKM, metode pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing juga memberikan pengaruh pada penguasaan konsep siswa untuk ketiga kelompok berada pada kategori tuntas. Respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan metode guided discovery dinilai baik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran IPA fisika dengan metode guided discovery dapat melatih keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP serta mampu menuntaskan penguasaan konsep kognitif siswa.
