Abstract Farmers raise cattle for various purposes, such as a source of cash income, investment function, and socio-cultural function. The research objective was to analyze farmers’ preferences in raising Peranakan Ongole (PO) as local beef cattle breed based on the purpose of raising livestock. This study involved 8 farmers from Klaten District, Central Java. Klaten Regency was chosen as a research location because it received PO cows as a grant from the Ministry of Agriculture. Respondents were selected purposively according to the criteria of being a livestock group administrator and being experience in raising PO as local beef cattle breed for ≥10 years. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to determine the priority of beef cattle criteria that are used by farmers to develop their business. There were three criteria and six factors used in this analysis. These criteria were cash income, investment function, and socio-culture function. Whereas, the six factors used were cattle breed, selling price, adaptability, reproductive ability, body size, and the physical appearance of the livestock. This study was conducted from November 2018 to January 2019 in coastal waters of Wonogiri Regency, Central Java Province. Data collection were made using the triangulation method. In addition, data analyses were performed using AWOT (Analythical Hierarchy Procedure and Strenght-Weakness-Opportunity-Threats) which was the combination of SWOT and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) techniques. The results showed that the problems of lobster management in Wonogiri Regency was the unreported catch and the unwillingness to release small-size- and berried-female lobsters. The best strategy for lobster management in Wonogiri Regency was shown in the 2nd quadrant (strategi Strength-Threats). Thus, the priority strategies would be the development of friendly lobster fishing gear with score a value 35.4% and the second priority is strengthening the role of collectors in controlling catches with a value of 30.5%.

It indicated that almost 50% of the population in Donorejo has not been economically prosperous and the development of Donorejo has not implemented optimally. To find out the proper development strategy, the Analytical Hierarchy Process was used as a method based on stakeholder assessment in the Donorejo. The used priorities were based on four aspects, namely human resource development, regional promotion, development of supporting infrastructure, and public services. The obtained results indicated that development of supporting infrastructure is a priority for the development of Donorejo. This outcome can be used as a reference to optimize the village development.

Abstract The position of Tegal City in the North Coast Line (Pantura) of Central Java is very strategic, because it is the Hinterland for the surrounding area. This requires good conditions of roads and intersections. In this study, an attempt was made to apply coordinated signalized intersections, using the Area Traffic Control System, for 4 selected intersections. There are 3 alternatives proposed, namely Alternative I, which uses the Area Traffic Control System, Alternative II, which is autonomous control of intersections, and Alternative III, which does not need to coordinate the intersection. By using the Analytical Hierarchy Process method, respondents' support for Alternative I is 61.01%, for Alternative II is 27.19%, and for Alternative III is 12.12%. Kata-kata kunci: simpang, simpang bersinyal, pengendalian simpang, Area Traffic Control System

Mining activities often cause land damage. Land damage can be monitored from time to time, so it canbe controlled and solved. This research was conducted in Semin, Gunungkidul Regency, SpecialRegion of Yogyakarta, from November 2017 until March 2018. Semin area consist of many miningactivities and also directly adjacent with Central Java Province in the east and north. Therefore, thestudy of land damage caused by mining activities in this area is very important. The purpose of thisresearch is to know and study the condition of land damage caused by current mining activities. Themethod used in this research is weighting method by using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) tosome parameters which mostly refers to the Decision of Governor of DIY Number 63 year 2003 asobserved parameter, that is 1) The character of rock compilation of excavation, 2) rock fracturing level3) Utilization and management of top soil, 4) Depth of excavation / height of wall, 5) Limit of slope ofexcavation, 6) Reclamation time, 7) Amount of erosion, 8) River flow / sedimentation. The level ofdamage is divided into three, based on the value, that is 1) Good (1.00-1.66), 2) Medium (1.67 - 2.33),and 3) Damaged (2.34 - 3.00). Total mine sites observed were 81 mine sites. There are 10 mine sitesincluded in the Good category, 68 mine sites belonging to the Medium category, and 3 mine sites inthe Damaged category.

Findings – The results indicated priorities which are recommended to include in the policy toward the function of the land conversion in Central Java. They are: first, the application of laws that regulate land conversion mechanism; second, tightening or restricting and prohibiting rules for anyone who wants to change the function of agricultural land; and finally, zoning or clustering region based on urban spatial and land use. Research limitations/implications – This study suggests that the government is expected to invest directly for agriculture and plantation by avoiding the use of existing rice field. Practical implications – It is also advisable for government to utilize the available unused land. Originality/value – This paper captures factual condition of the decrease of the land use for agriculture which has been very critical issues in any agrarian countries.
