Sexual Health and Sexual Behavior

Both academic and lay definitions of sex vary. However, definitions generally gravitate around reproduction and the experience of pleasure. Some theoretical approaches, such as psychoanalysis and evolutionary psychology, have positioned sexuality at the center of psychological phenomena. Much research has also linked sex to health and disease. On the one hand, certain sexual thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and identities have been described as pathological. Over time, some of these have been accepted as normal (especially homosexuality), while new forms of pathology have also been proposed (e.g., “porn addiction”). On the other hand, some aspects of sexuality are being researched due to their relevance to public health (e.g., sex education) or to counseling (e.g., assisted reproduction). Sex research has always been controversial, paradoxically receiving both positive attention and disdain. These contradictory social forces have arguably affected both the content and the scientific quality of sex research.

The European Parliament (EP) symbolizes many of the struggles that characterize the process of European integration and is at the core of many theoretical and empirical debates about representation, accountability, and legitimacy. This chapter draws on a variety of theoretical approaches to explain the complex role the EP plays in the political system of the European Union (EU). It starts with a brief overview of the history and functions of the assembly, followed by a theoretical explanation of its empowerment over time. Then, it determines the extent to which the EP is capable of influencing policymaking, both in legislative and non-legislative domains, as well as for the appointment of the Commission. It presents the political structure of the assembly and underlines the role of parliamentary groups and committees. It discusses the representativeness of the EP and the democratic quality of its internal functioning. Finally, it addresses current and future challenges for the EP.

Unified and precise terminology in any field of specialization ensures the scientific quality of the text. Dictionaries should be considered a particularly significant source of terminology due to having authority criterion. The present research examines 450 Latvian terminological dictionaries that have been published between 1990 and 2020. The article intends to highlight the path of Latvian terminography by giving insight into publishing practice; for this article, three publishing houses have been selected – Zinātne, Avots, Zvaigzne ABC. The interview of three editors provides an insight into several questions that have emerged over time, during the study of terminological dictionaries. The article’s main goal is to reveal several practical aspects of publishing terminological dictionaries in Latvia – marketing policy of dictionary publishing, lack of dictionary users’ feedback and review deficiency, the relevance of officially approved terminological dictionaries, etc. The conclusion of the research is that regularly issued official terminological dictionaries and updated terminological databases should provide a milestone for fields’ specialists and other dictionary users. It would greatly facilitate the work of translators and specialists in the field and reduce the publishing of low-quality resources.

The purpose of this article is to identify what are the human resources processes to be implemented in orthodontic practices to both improve the management of patients, but also the profitability of the structure in terms of both organization and financial. The work on the cohesion of the teams will create a collective commitment which depends on the one hand on the quality of the recruitment of the employees, and then on the motivation levers set up within the teams and maintained over time. In the teams the intergenerational collaboration must be managed and optimized. On the other hand, the orthodontist leader must have a clear strategy and clear objectives to be able to communicate effectively. He must also know the communication tools according to the circumstances to convey the messages he needs.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of second-crop corn harvested with different moisture contents as a function of time before drying. The corn grains were harvested with moisture content of 28.5, 22.4, 21 and 19%, and submitted to a temporary storage for ten days, simulating the time between harvesting and drying. Quality was subsequently evaluated every two days, based on the commercial classification of the grains, sanity test and dry bulk density. The results showed that: the increase in moisture content at harvest affects the physical and sanitary quality of second-crop corn, and this effect is aggravated over time; the moisture content of 19% is the one that least affects grain quality during the ten days of temporary storage.

In recent years, excessive monetization of football and professionalism among the players have been argued to have affected the quality of the match in different ways. On the one hand, playing football has become a high-income profession and the players are highly motivated; on the other hand, stronger teams have higher incomes and therefore afford better players leading to an even stronger appearance in tournaments that can make the game more imbalanced and hence predictable. To quantify and document this observation, in this work, we take a minimalist network science approach to measure the predictability of football over 26 years in major European leagues. We show that over time, the games in major leagues have indeed become more predictable. We provide further support for this observation by showing that inequality between teams has increased and the home-field advantage has been vanishing ubiquitously. We do not include any direct analysis on the effects of monetization on football’s predictability or therefore, lack of excitement; however, we propose several hypotheses which could be tested in future analyses.

Scientific production analisys of EAD brazilian articlesAbstractDifferent studies, guided by different theoretical approaches, seek to understand the specifics of Distance Learning (EAD) and its applications. Thus, it is necessary to revise Brazilian articles on the subject seeking to know what we know and point out the gaps in the area. This study analyzes Brazilian scientific articles related to EAD in the period from 2000 to 2009 in the BVS-Psi and Scielo. databases It was considered the keyword "Distance Education" and presence of an abstract for the selected article. We analyzed 306 abstracts resulting from the initial search and only 82 of these referred to the object of this research area and / or possessed abstracts for analysis. The analyzed articles were from 46 scientific journals, being the journal Education and Research, with Qualis A1, the one who showed the highest number of publications (N = 7). Most studies were from multiple authors (70.7%) and female authors (62%), being the years 2006 and 2007 with the largest number of publications in the area. Regarding the type of article, there was equivalence between the amount of productions of theoretical paper and of research studies, with the ones in the Education area being predominant. It was concluded that, as an area in constant expansion, it is necessary a greater incentive to studies on the subject as well as tightening of magazines with regard to quality of the published abstracts, given the lack of fundamental information and standardization thereof. Keywords: Virtual Learning, Scientific Production; Metascience; Scientometrics.

The article proposes an accounting methodology for marketing tools to stimulate sales distributed over time and certain recommendations for calculating the value of the accounting object Obligation to Customer. Conclusions and Relevance. The current Belarusian and Russian regulatory legal acts governing the accounting procedure for marketing tools to stimulate sales are covering just some issues related to marketing activity accounting. There is no differentiation between accounting for sales transactions using marketing promotion tools distributed over time and the one for sales transactions using marketing promotion tools not distributed over time. This necessitates further scientific research in the field of accounting for marketing promotion tools distributed over time. The results of the study can be useful in practical activities of enterprises, certain provisions of the legislation in the field of accounting for marketing, and educational activities in terms of methods of accounting for marketing tools to stimulate sales.

Abstract. Borderline Intellectual Functioning (BIF) refers to a global IQ ranging from 71 to 84, and it represents a condition of clinical attention for its association with other disorders and its influence on the outcomes of treatments and, in general, quality of life and adaptation. Furthermore, its definition has changed over time causing a relevant clinical impact. For this reason, a systematic review of the literature on this topic can promote an understanding of what has been studied, and can differentiate what is currently attributable to BIF from that which cannot be associated with this kind of intellectual functioning. Using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) criteria, we have conducted a review of the literature about BIF. The results suggest that this condition is still associated with mental retardation, and only a few studies have focused specifically on this condition.
