In the past two decades, China has achieved impressive progress and built competence in digital technology–enabled products, processes, business models, and hyperscale e-infrastructure. Driven by the globally largest internet user scale and fast catching up of information technologies, China’s strategy has been transformed from survival to growth and is transforming to market leadership. Now China has built its competence not only in telecommunication, consumer electronics, and PCs but also in some complex technology products like supercomputer systems. China has also witnessed the rise of hyperscale internet giants and the establishment of super e-commerce and mobile payment systems. However, there are still some great challenges that need to be overcome in some “bottleneck” technologies like the semiconductor and software sectors. China is thus seeking ways to move beyond the “global factory” model and cultivate its own technology-intensive industries and innovation capabilities. In the future, it is critical to maintain an open strategy among fierce global competition.

The advent of fintech is blowing a new wind into the financial industry. New business models have been created and consumers’ access to financial services is higher than ever. Internet-only banks based on advanced information technologies have emerged as a leader in the fintech industry, and these banks are fiercely competing with large banks using internet banking as a weapon to attract new customers. The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that influence customers’ intention to switch to internet-only banking services from traditional internet banking services in Korea. To this end, a research model was developed based on the push-pull-mooring model (PPM), which is a migration theory. The research model was analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings will provide the practitioners of the new internet-only bank with strategic guidance for attracting new customers and help practitioners of traditional banks to retain current customers.

Technologically, ultrajet mesodiagnostics (UJM) consists of local hydroerosive indentation by ultrajets (UJ) of water on the surface of the analyzed object (OA) and the subsequent study of the results of this minimally invasive microdestructive effect on its surface layer. Obviously, mathematical models’ construction of the functional relationship between the informative-physical signs of hydroerosive UJ destruction and the surface layer’s state parameters of various OA, primarily their defectiveness, is very important for the development of this potentially promising technology for ensuring the quality of critical products, mainly aviation and other industries. In this regard, the work proposes a probabilistic UJM model, which consists of analyzing the kinetics of the formation of an aggregate set of eroded particles, as a process caused by a combination of appropriate necessary and sufficient conditions for its implementation. The former include the topographic features of the microdefectiveness’ characteristics of the surface layer material, and the latter consist of a certain variational-force hydrodynamic effect of the diagnostic UJ on it. This approach made it possible to obtain calculated data related to probabilistic distribution of the UJ-eroded particles’ sizes of hypothetical OA, as a coordinate function describing the microdefects’ concentration in its surface layer. These functions are close to the available results of experimental UJM of typical and promising materials used in the manufacture of machinery technology.

This study analyzes the legal framework of e-taxation in the Turkish Republic. Tax service is commonly provided by using ICT in many countries. In e-government applications in Turkey, provision of e-tax service is one of the leading projects. Among the members of OECD, electronic tax return, payment systems and tax automation systems generated in this area have gained an increasing importance. Taxpayers fill the declarations electronically and also pay tax debts without going to the tax offices. E-taxation system is becoming widespread in Turkey. Implementation of the system in Turkey started in 1998 with VEDOP I and continued with 2004 VEDOP II and 2007 VEDOP III Projects. These applications are legislated by the Tax Procedure Law in Turkey. Thus, legal regulations on electronic recording are established on a legal basis. In this study, e-government tax applications in the Turkish Tax Law (e-tax return, e-books, e-signature, e-audit) and legal base of this application is examined. Information is given on how it is implemented by means of information technologies in Turkey. The main purpose of the study is to examine what legal regulations were enacted for registering and taxation in the use of information technologies and to determine the current situation in Turkey.

An emerging outcome of the popularization of the Internet are electronic commerce and payment systems, which present great opportunities for businesses, reduce transaction costs, and provide faster transaction times. More research has been conducted with new technologies like mobile Internet used by business models (Baek & Hong, 2003). However, before using the Internet, it is essential to provide security in transferring monetary value over the Internet. A number of protocols have been proposed for these secure payment systems, including NetBill, NetCheque, Open Market, iKP, Millicent, SET (Sherift, 1998), E-Cash (Brands, 1995), NetCash, CAFÉ (Mjolsnes, 1997), EMV cards (Khu-Smith & Mitchell, 2002), etc. These systems are designed to meet diverse requirements, each with particular attributes. Automation and intelligence is another issue that poses challenges in the development of e-commerce. Agent technology has been incorporated into the area of e-commerce to provide automation and intelligence for the e-trade process. An agent is a software program capable of accomplishing tasks autonomously on behalf of its user. Agents must provide trustworthy consistency and fault tolerance to avoid eavesdropping and fraud. Also, agents should have roaming capability so as to extend their capability well beyond the limitations of owners’ computers. To meet these requirements, this chapter will discuss some related components under the SAFER (Secure Agent Fabrication, Evolution, and Roaming) architecture (Zhu & Guan, 2000) and propose an agent-based payment scheme for SAFER. Different types of electronic payment systems have been developed to meet its diverse requirements, which generally include integrity, authorization, confidentiality, availability, and reliability for security requirements (Asokan, 1997). Payment systems can be classified in a variety of ways according to their characteristics (Dahab & Ferreira, 1998), such as the exchange model (cash-like, check-like, or hybrid), central authority contact (online or offline), hardware requirements (specific or general), payment amounts (micropayment), etc. Among the available payment schemes in the market, E-Cash is one of the best in terms of security, flexibility, and full anonymity. E-Cash is a cash-like online system that uses electronic coins as tokens. E-Cash has unique advantages, such as flexibility, integrity, and full anonymity that cannot be found in electronic check and credit card based systems. It uses cryptographic techniques to provide full anonymity. The agent-based payment scheme for SAFER adopts some similar principles and concepts of E-Cash.
