Bright yellow, interveinal chlorosis was observed for the first time on leaves of the older and mid-growth of cucurbit plants in southern Arizona and Sonora (Mexico) during September and October of 2006. Some cultivars exhibited substantial yield losses of 30 to 80%. In Arizona, symptoms were in Cucumis melo (muskmelon and honeydew melon) fields in the Yuma Valley and Hyder. In Sonora, honeydew and muskmelon, Cucurbita pepo (acorn, spaghetti, and summer [yellow and zucchini] squash), and Citrullus lanatus (watermelon) were symptomatic in Hermosillo, whereas, in Caborca, honeydew and cantaloupe developed similar symptoms. Interveinal chlorosis was observed in 60 to 100% of the plants in each field. Crops planted mid-to-late season were 100% infected, whereas, the early-season fields experienced approximately 60 to 80% incidence. All symptomatic fields in the Sonoran Desert and vicinity were infested by the whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Genn.), which was identified as the ‘B biotype’ on the basis of mitochondria COI sequence analysis (data not shown). Whitefly population levels were variable and ranged from 5 to 200 per plant. Total RNA was isolated from leaf samples collected from symptomatic plants using Tri Reagent (Molecular Research Center, Cincinnati, OH). Purified RNA was used in reverse transcriptase-PCR with primers specific to the Cucurbit yellow stunting disorder virus (CYSDV) coat protein (CP) gene (RNA2-deoxyribonucleotide coordinates 4927-4950 and 5657-5679) for the suspected whitefly-transmitted bipartite CYSDV (4). PCR yielded the CYSDV CP fragment, at 753 bp (GenBank Accession Nos. EF21058 and EF21059), which was cloned into pGEM T-Easy and sequenced in both directions using universal primers. The CYSDV CP nucleotide sequences (n = 16) obtained from acorn squash, honeydew melon, muskmelon, yellow squash, and watermelon had 99 to 100% identity. The Arizona (AZ) and Sonora (SON) CYSDV CP sequences shared 99 to 100% identity with previously described CYSDV isolates from the Eastern Hemisphere (GenBank Accession Nos. DQ903105 and DQ903108) and also with two isolates of CYSDV collected during 2004 from Zacapa Valley, Guatemala (GenBank Accession Nos. EF21060 and EF21061) (J. K. Brown, unpublished data). CYSDV is a member of the genus Crinivirus, family Closteroviridae. CYSDV was first identified in cucumber and melon crops in the Middle East approximately 15 years ago and 10 years ago in Spain (1). Most recently, this virus was introduced into Texas (2), Guatemala (J. K. Brown, unpublished data), and Arizona and California (3). CYSDV has therefore emerged as an important and potentially worldwide threat to the production of cultivated cucurbits (3). The threat appears to be significant in light of the introduction or establishment of the exotic B. tabaci biotypes B and Q vectors, which also originated in the Middle Eastern-North African-Mediterranean region. To our knowledge, this is the first report of CYSDV infecting field-grown C. pepo (four types) and watermelon, reported previously only as experimental laboratory hosts, and of CYSDV in two types of melon (C. melo) in Mexico. This paper presents a study on the migration into a soil structure of a pollutant, a liquid petroleum product. Accidental pollution with a liquid petroleum product can also be considered to crack a transport pipeline. This leads to the displacement of the pollutant in the soil structure, both horizontally and vertically. The study presents an analysis of the migration velocity in the soil structure, with certain physical properties, of both the soil and the pollutant petroleum product. The penetration of petroleum products to a certain depth in soil is influenced by its humidity, grain size and density, pollution intensity, viscosity and pollutant density. It was possible to calculate for the first time at the experimental laboratory level the depth of penetration of the pollutant.

This article aims to explore the concept of contemporary luxury tourism and try to associate it with the Iranian context. More specifically, feasibility and potential study of luxury tourism in Iran in terms of rarity and uniquely by considering the cultural factors. This paper investigates, the concept of luxury has changed over time. In addition, will stress on the importance of recognizing the potential of luxury travel and its diversity in Iran and bringing these topical international issues to a wide audience. The luxury travel market raised new demands for emerging destinations like Middle Eastern and South Asian countries. Furthermore, in recent years a large number of new destinations like Iran have emerged around the world and have started to compete and generate income in the international tourism market. According to analysis data in this paper, Iran like most countries in the Middle East has a natural competitive advantage in global luxury tourism. Thanks to the current conservative policy all its aesthetic aspects have been under protection for decades. However, the potential of this competitive advantage has not been reached. The research design in this paper consists of three stages to ensure rigorous scale development. The strategies, processes, techniques utilized in the collection of data or evidence for analysis in order to uncover new information or create a better understanding of this topic is driven from materials in the field of luxury and luxury travel during the last decades. In order to reduce this limitation, the researcher tried to have a generalization review. Data for this study were obtained during the COVID-19 crisis.

In this paper, the main concepts and the preliminary results related to a new approach for creating innovative green laboratory experiences in applied science and technology will be discussed. The term ebatronics is here introduced for the first time in the literature to indicate a kind of experimental laboratory based on the conjunction of wooden recycled materials and microcontroller based devices. In particular, tensegrity based systems are presented. A gallery of prototypes developed by the authors is shown. An intense set of photos will illustrate the real effectiveness of the proposed laboratory project.

The antlions (Myrmeleontidae) of Cyprus have been poorly studied and only 13 species were known from this biogeographically interesting island. In light of new field research, we provide an updated checklist to the Cypriot antlions, including seven species reported for the first time from the island. Of these, the findings of the Middle Eastern species Distoleon laticollis and Cueta kasyi are particularly noteworthy. The Cypriot antlion fauna appears dominated by widespread Mediterranean elements, with relatively few Middle Eastern and endemic species.

Research subject. The Savabeisky sulfide copper-nickel ore occurrence, located in the central part of the Khengur (Central Pay-Khoy) gabbro-dolerite complex of the Pay-Khoy, within the Yugorsky Peninsula, located in the Far North-East of the European part of Russia, in the Arkhangelsk region, between the Barents and Kara Seas.Materials and methods. Samples of copper-nickel ores with noble metal mineralization were studied. Palladium tellurides and bismuthtellurides were characterized using optical and scanning electron microscopy, electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), X-ray structural analysis and Raman spectroscopy.Results. Bismuthtellurides in the Paykhoysko-Vaigach-Yuzhnonovozemelskiy region – michenerite, merenskyite and unidentified palladium telluride of the kotulskite–merenskyite series with crystal formula Pd2(TeSbBi)3 – were found for the first time. The unit cell parameter of Pay-Khoy michenerite was calculated using X-ray diffraction analysis data: a = 6.638(2) Å. According to Raman spectroscopy, the palladium tellurides and bismuthtellurides of the Savabeisky ore occurrence were distinguished into 4 groups: Sb-kotulskite (does not contain Raman-active modes), unnamed PGM Pd2(TeSbBi)3 (bands in the range 95–103, 121–126 cm–1, obtained for the first time), Sb-merenskyite (band 126–135 cm–1), michenerite (bands with maxima 100 and 116 cm–1, obtained for the first time). The Kikuchi lines for michenerite and the mineral of the kotulskite–merenskyite series were obtained by the EBSD method.Conclusions. The diagnosis of palladium tellurides and bismuthtellurides is a rather complicated problem (wide variations in compositions, low hardness, small size, thin intergrowths of several individuals, the presence of impurities, etc.) affecting the determination of their mineral form and requiring an integrated approach. The Raman spectra of michenerite and unnamed PGM can be used as standards for the rapid identification of their natural forms, in contrast to EBSD, which requires improved sample preparation. The relatively high content of antimony in the ore minerals and noble metals minerals at the Savabeisky ore occurrence is the antimony metallogenic specificity characteristic of the entire Uralsko-Novozemelskiy province.

Patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), despite optimal evidence-based treatment, have a high residual risk of adverse outcomes. The favorable results of studies on cardiovascular safety and the effectiveness of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), including outcomes associated with heart failure, were the reason for studying the effectiveness in patients with HFrEF regardless of the T2D status. For the first time in the DAPA-HF study, the SGLT2 inhibitor dapagliflozin in patients with HFrEF showed a positive effect on hard endpoints. Data of the secondary analysis confirmed the effectiveness of dapagliflozin regardless of the T2D status, therapy, age, and quality of life. The results of DAPA-HF have become a serious statement for changing the standards of the guideline-recommended therapy of HFrEF.

A new race of cucurbit powdery mildew was observed for the first time on melon (Cucumis melo) in three research greenhouses in the Axarquia area of southern Spain during the spring of 2008. Fungal growth appeared as white powdery colonies initially restricted to the upper leaf surfaces. Morphological characteristics of colonies, conidiophores, conidia, germ tubes, and appressoria indicated that the powdery mildew fungus was Podosphaera fusca (also known as P. xanthii) (3), a fungal pathogen extensively reported in the area (1). However, the fungus developed on plants of melon cv. PMR 6, which is resistant to races 1 and 2 of P. fusca, suggesting that the fungus could belong to race 3, a race of P. fusca not yet reported in Spain. Race determination was carried out by inoculating the third true leaf of a set of differential melon genotypes that were maintained in a greenhouse. Symptoms and colonization observed on cvs. Rochet, PMR 45, PMR 6, and Edisto 47 indicated that the isolates belonged to race 3-5 of P. fusca. Fungal strains of races 1, 2, and 5 of P. fusca (all present in Spain) were used as controls. Pathotype designation was determined by inoculating different cucurbit genera and species (2). In addition to melon, the isolates were pathogenic on zucchini (Cucurbita pepo) cv. Diamant F1, but failed to infect cucumber (C. sativus) cv. Marketer and watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) cv. Sugar Baby; therefore, the isolates were pathotype BC (2). Races 1, 2, 4, and 5 of P. fusca have been previously reported in the area (1). This chapter begins by surveying the historical context of rape in Iraq through the narrative of Eazidi women who escaped enslavement by ISIS. It then discusses the theology of rape in Islam, which has motivated ISIS to commit rape and legitimized the rape of Eazidi women. The chapter then theorizes the social capital of Middle Eastern women. The chapter argues that, for the first time, the Eazidi community in Iraq is altering the social consequences of rape by developing empowerment methods that amount to a social revolution within the Eazidi community. This empowerment not only protects Eazidi women survivors from experiencing common post-rape consequences but also increases their capital, in all its Bourdieusian forms.

To examine possible genetic connectivity between crop viruses found in Southeast Asia and Australia, Papaya ringspot virus biotype W (PRSV-W) isolates from cucurbits growing in East Timor and northern Australia were studied. East Timorese samples from cucumber (Cucumis sativus) or pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata and C. maxima) were sent to Australia on FTA cards. These samples and others of pumpkin, rockmelon, honeydew melon (Cucumis melo), or watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) growing in one location each in northwest, north, or northeast Australia were subjected to high throughput sequencing (HTS). When the 17 complete PRSV genomic sequences obtained by HTS were compared with 32 others from GenBank, the five from East Timor were in a different major phylogroup from the 12 Australian sequences. Moreover, the East Timorese and Australian sequences each formed their own minor phylogroups named VI and I, respectively. A Taiwanese sequence was closest to the East Timorese (89.6% nt dentity), and Mexican and Brazilian sequences were the closest to the Australian (92.3% nt identity). When coat protein gene (CP) sequences from the 17 new genomic sequences were compared with 126 others from GenBank, three Australian isolates sequenced more than 20 years ago grouped with the new Australian sequences, while the closest sequence to the East Timorese was from Thailand (93.1% nt identity). Recombination analysis revealed 13 recombination events among the 49 complete genomes. Two isolates from East Timor (TM50, TM32) and eight from GenBank were recombinants, but all 12 Australian isolates were non-recombinants. No evidence of genome connectivity between Australian and Southeast Asian PRSV populations was obtained. The strand-specific RNA library approach used optimized data collection for virus genome assembly. When an Australian PRSV isolate was inoculated to plants of zucchini (Cucurbita pepo), watermelon, rockmelon, and honeydew melon, they all developed systemic foliage symptoms characteristic of PRSV-W, but symptom severity varied among melon cultivars.

Abstract Rising numbers of psychoactive tryptamine derivatives have become available on the drug market over the last decade, making these naturally occurring or synthetically manufactured compounds highly relevant for forensic analyses. One of these compounds is 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (5-MeO-DMT), a constituent of the dried poison of Incilius alvarius (Colorado River toad), which has a history of ritual and/or recreational use. Still, comprehensive and validated qualitative as well as quantitative analytical data on the psychoactive components of this poison are scarce. In this study, samples of the poison of Incilius alvarius were collected from live toads in the Sonoran Desert, Arizona (USA), and analyzed with a set of complementary methods. Acetone/water (70/30, v/v) proved to be the solvent of choice for the extraction of tryptamine derivatives. Trace compounds were enriched, and overload with 5-MeO-DMT was prevented by chromatographic separation of 5-MeO-DMT prior to qualitative analyses. The method for quantification was validated. Attenuated total reflection–Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy was suitable to identify 5-MeO-DMT as the main tryptamine in samples of the poison. The combined evaluation of analytical data gained from gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS), high-performance liquid chromatography–quadrupole time-of-flight high-resolution MS (HPLC–qToF–HRMS) and HPLC–MS/MS confirmed the presence of 5-MeO-DMT, 5-MeO-N-methyltryptamine, 5-MeO-tryptamine, 5-MeO-tryptophol, 2-(5-methoxy-1H-indol-3-yl)-acetic-acid (5-MIAA), 5-HO-N-methyltryptamine, bufotenin, DMT and tryptophan. For the first time, 5-MeO-tryptamine and two positional isomers of hydroxylated MeO-DMT were detected in the poison of Incilius alvarius. The tryptamine present in the highest concentrations was 5-MeO-DMT (mean ± SD: 410,000 ± 30,000 mg/g). Mean concentrations of 5-MeO-tryptamine (490 ± 260 mg/g), 5-HO-N-methyltryptamine (270 ± 120 mg/g), bufotenin (2,800 ± 1,900 mg/g) and DMT (250 ± 80 mg/g) showed a relatively high variability between individual samples. The comprehensive analytical reference data of Incilius alvarius poison presented here might prove useful for forensic chemists.
