ABSTRACTRiboswitches are regulatory elements present in bacterial messenger RNA acting as sensors of small molecules and consequently playing a vital role in bacterial gene regulation. The SAM-II riboswitch is a class of riboswitches, that recognizes S-adenosyl methionine. It has been previously illustrated that the presence of Mg2+ ions stabilizes the pre-existing minor state of the riboswitch, which is structurally characterised by having a nucleated pseudoknot, leading to the increase of its probability. In this study, an analytical equilibrium model is developed to describe the impact of Mg2+ ions concentration on the folding of the SAM-II riboswitch, linking RNA folding and tertiary interactions energetics to ligand binding, and, hence enabling quantitative predictions. The method was used to study the role of the P1 helix sequence in determining the fraction of binding competent conformers of the SAM-II riboswitch, by simulating the Mg2+ titration curves of various mutants.Graphical abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the direct impact of knowledge donating behaviour on employees’ productivity and an indirect effect through social networking technologies. Social networking technologies play a vital role in the growth and learning of individuals and organizations in today’s competitive business environment. Recently, advancement in social networking technologies has brought a paradigm shift in the overall business environment and specific operational requirements. This study aimed to investigate the role of social networking (SN) between knowledge donating behaviour (KD) and employees’ productivity (EP). Methodology: For this purpose, data were gathered from targeted respondents belonged to the Universities and Banks located in the Northern Punjab region of Pakistan. Structural Equation Modelling technique using the SmartPLS was carried to statistically analyse the responses. Findings: The results showed that the hypothesized relationship between knowledge sharing behaviour (KSB) and employee’s productivity was significant and positively related, while social networking played a significant mediating role between this relationship. Implications: The findings provided useful insight to the managers and policymakers for planning effective use of social networking technologies to craft knowledge sharing behaviour among employees to create efficiencies and intended outcomes. Originality: The study has uniquely focused merging phenomenon of knowledge sharing behaviour in the service sector of Pakistan, specifically among academic and financial sector by exploring the impact of social networking technologies and provide valuable future direction for researchers to further extend the underlined idea in the wake of current Covid-19 Pandemic.

Anillin (ANLN), an actin-binding protein, reportedly plays a vital role in cell proliferation and migration, particularly in cytokinesis. Although there have been findings pointing to a contribution of ANLN to the development of cancer, the association of ANLN to cancer remains not fully understood. Here, we gather evidence to determine the applicability of ANLN as a prognostic tool for some types of cancer, and the impact that ANLN has on the hallmarks of cancer. We searched academic repositories including PubMed and Google Scholar to find and review studies related to cancer and ANLN. The conclusion is that ANLN could be a potent target for cancer treatment, but the roles ANLN, other than in cytokinesis and its influence on tumour microenvironment remodeling in cancer development, must be further elucidated, and specific ANLN inhibitors should be found.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection can induce alveolar macrophage apoptosis and autophagy, which play a vital role in eliminating pathogens. These two processes are usually not independent. Recently, autophagy has been found to interact with apoptosis during pathogen infections. Nevertheless, the role of autophagy in P. aeruginosa-infected cell apoptosis is unclear. In this study, we explored the impact of P. aeruginosa infection on autophagy and apoptosis in RAW264.7 cells. The autophagy activator rapamycin was used to stimulate autophagy and explore the role of autophagy on apoptosis in P. aeruginosa-infected RAW264.7 cells. The results indicated that P. aeruginosa infection induced autophagy and apoptosis in RAW264.7 cells, and that rapamycin could suppress P. aeruginosa-induced apoptosis by regulating the expression of apoptosis-related proteins. In addition, rapamycin scavenged the cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and diminished p-JNK, p-ERK1/2 and p-p38 expression of MAPK pathways in RAW264.7 cells infected with P. aeruginosa. In conclusion, the promotion of autophagy decreased P. aeruginosa-induced ROS accumulation and further attenuated the apoptosis of RAW264.7 cells through MAPK pathway. These results provide novel insights into host–pathogen interactions and highlight a potential role of autophagy in eliminating P. aeruginosa.

Entrepreneurship is the engine for social and economic growth of any society. It drives people toward wealth and job creation, which leads to better lives for people in the society. There has been growing interest in entrepreneurship research recently. This paper attempted to assess the impact of family in Nepalese society. This was viewed as essential in a country in which more than 125 ethnic communities are found. The findings show that family has some impact in people to become entrepreneurship but it was not strongly substantiated by statistical tests. It was found that entrepreneur’s parental profession plays some role in entrepreneurship development in Nepal which was similar to some findings that parental profession plays vital role in the choice of profession in children.Journal of Nepalese Bussiness Studies Vol. 9, No. 1, 2015 pp. 37-47

This paper looks at the vital role of industrial research and development (R&D). The increased outsourcing of industrial R&D is contrasted with a resource-based view of competitive advantage which maintains capabilities that are valuable, rare, imitable, and non-substitutable (VRIN), and should be internalized in the firm. Traditional business formation literature is also supportive of keeping R&D “inhouse”. R&D outsourcing research is leveraged to posit possible reasons for the increased amount of outsourced R&D. Testable propositions are included that look at factors for R&D outsource decisions and also the impact of these decisions on firm performance. An R&D entropy statistic is introduced as well as several R&D characteristics useful in the decision-making process to create R&D.

The common denominator of the European Union’s (EU) strategic long-run documents is the role of total factor productivity in fostering future growth and competitiveness. Hence, this article analyses the impact of total factor productivity on export competitiveness in EU new member states (NMS). As opposed to the stagnation of the growth of total factor productivity in the advanced economies, EU NMS exhibited stronger growth that was interrupted due to the 2008 economic and financial crisis. After the crisis, the growth continued but it was not as strong as before. The results of the empirical analysis confirm the vital role of total factor productivity for the export competitiveness of the EU NMS. However, the results also point to the fact that the impact of total factor productivity on export competitiveness is not that beneficial in the countries where the value of total factor productivity has not returned to the pre-crisis level.

Ownership structure or the stakeholder structure of an organization often play significant role in operations decision, monitoring and control. This as a result possesses influences over process and hence performance. On the other hand, the role of stakeholders and respective conflict of interests can also be not ruled out. Under such circumstances, assessing the impact of organizational structure or stakeholder pattern and firm performance becomes inevitable to assess. In addition, the relationship between the investment pattern and respective conflicts of interests is inevitable to be examined. To ensure investment security corporate governance has played vital role that suggests assessing the inter-relationship between the stakeholder pattern and firm performance. With this motivation, in this paper an empirical study has been done to examine the impact of internal shareholding patterns on the associated firm’s performance. In this paper we have performed an empirical study where the aforementioned relationship has been examined for Indian listed NIFTY 50 companies for the duration of the financial year 2011 to 2016. Our empirical results provide evidence that insider shareholding is positively and significantly related to the firm performance as measured by market capitalization; market value by book value and Tobin’s Q.

The impact of this current pandemic on society, in general, is increasingly visible, and we find ourselves in a permanent state of transformation due to the dizzying proliferation of technologies. This pandemic expedites the vital role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that drives the modern world in education as well as in all other areas. On the other hand, as schools and higher education institutions rapidly move their learning, teaching, and assessment online in response to the worldwide pandemic, academics feel improvised, inefficiently supported, and deeply fearful.

This research is subjected to the study of the impact of street scape on human psychology. The study mainly focuses on the importance of the design of sidewalks on the street so that it can’t become the space for the criminal activities as described by the journalist jane Jacobs. The research also aims to study the role of urbanization in changing the street scaping of the cities. The study comprises of the statistical data which is the output of the survey conducted by the researcher and live case study of the streets of two cities i.e. Chandigarh and Pune.42% Part of the city are imbued with streets and therefore they play a vital role on the psychology of a human being. Keeping this in mind, the research is made on how streets could be designed in a manner that create the surrounding safe and happier to live.

ABSTRACT The biomechanical and biochemical properties of connective tissues are determined by the composition and quality of their extracellular matrix. This, in turn, is highly dependent on the function and organisation of the secretory pathway. The Golgi complex plays a vital role in directing matrix output by co-ordinating the post-translational modification and proteolytic processing of matrix components prior to their secretion. These modifications have broad impacts on the secretion and subsequent assembly of matrix components, as well as their function in the extracellular environment. In this Review, we highlight the role of the Golgi in the formation of an adaptable, healthy matrix, with a focus on proteoglycan and procollagen secretion as example cargoes. We then discuss the impact of Golgi dysfunction on connective tissue in the context of human disease and ageing.
